Wanna See BUBBA HO-TEP At ComiCon With QUINT'!

Published at:  Jul 25, 2002 9:30:27 AM CDT

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Well... yes, please. I’ve seen it already, but that crowd... that movie... oh, man, I can just imagine the response. They’re gonna have to steamclean those seats afterwards. And speaking of unsightly stains, here’s everyone’s favorite crusty seaman with the details:

Ahoy there, squirts! The resident crusty seaman, Quint, here to let you folks know about a few things going on at the San Diego Comic Con next week.

I'm gonna be there taking pictures, doing interviews and keeping my eyes peeled for the coolest news I can possibly find. If you've been reading your favorite
movie news, action figure or comic book websites in the last week, you know all the cool shit going down at the Con this year. Thursday has Guillermo del Toro, Ron Pearlman and Mignola doing a panel on HELLBOY. Friday is busier with Weta's Richard Taylor doing his 2 hour long movie make-up and weaponary panel, MGM's sneak looks at Bulletproof Monk and Die Another Day, Columbia/Revolution's sneak looks at XXX and Tooth Fairy and a big House of the Dead panel taking up most of the day...

And good God... Saturday is filled with panels on Star Wars, The Core (with Hillary Swank there), Lord of the Rings, Ecks Vs. Sever (with Lucy Lui and Ray Park), Dreamcatcher (with Jason Lee there), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Matrix: Reloaded, The Hulk, Daredevil (with director Mark Steven Johnson and Bullseye himself (not to mention the new BATMAN) Colin Farrell and X-Men 2... with some exclusive footage shown by director Bryan Singer.

Whew... Lots of cool shit going down this year. To add on to the coolness, director Don Coscarelli is bringing Bubba Ho-tep, the Bruce Campbell as Elvis Vs A Soul-Sucking Mummy flick.

He sent me an email detailing how to get your passes. Here's what he had to say!

Comicon will be hosting a special sneak preview of Bruce Campbell's new film, "Bubba Ho-tep" on Thursday August 1st at 9PM. A limited amount of free passes will available at the Xmachina/Phantasm booth #2606 on the Comicon exhibit floor. To receive your free pass you must go to the booth on Wednesday or Thursday and say the following words, "Quint sent me". Come early as seating is very limited!

When: Thursday August 1, 9:00 P.M.

Where: UA 14 - Horton Plaza

475 Horton Plaza, San Diego, CA 92101

-----------

There you have it, squirts. Good luck on getting those passes! You won't be disappointed. I have to be going, but I hope to see you folks around at the con. Feel free to say hi if you see me running about. You can also email me at aicnquint@aol.com or give me a call on my cell phone: 512-663-9146. See you folks there!

-Quint

I’ll be at ComiCon, too, this year, and plan to spend much time with Quint. Should be a blast, and I hope to see many of you down there as well.

"Moriarty" out.

That is the very definition of commitment to the fans. Quint, not smart, but commendable. I'd call you, but the charges would cripple me.

Woo Hoo! The plan was to go see the premiere of Donnie Yen's kung fu flick at 7PM on Thursday. Oh, how plans have changed! Bubba Ho-Tep, here we come!!!! The neatest thing about pre-registering for all four days - we're gonna see everything on Wednesday night, ala Preview Night!!! Another Woo Hoo!

    You know what?

    by osgood sigerson

[pissed off rant begins here]I'd love to go to the Comicon. But I live on the east coast, so I get nothing. No Comicon, no WizardWorld, not even a $tar Wars $aleabration. Can't make it to Toronto. Okay Bubba Ho-Tep guys, bring this to New York at least. I can manage a trip there. If it's already been there, I'll just mutter to myself in the corner. You know what, I'm moving to San Diego and praying that I don't live in the Babylon 5 universe. So sick of this crap. [end pissed off rant]

    No Farrell or Campbell

    by jackiee

    FYI:
Colin Farrell has had to cancel at the last minute because of a family emergency. Bruce Campbell will be at another event, on the East Coast, that weekend.

Lots of other unannounced Hollywood folks will be at the show--iit's always interesting to see who shows up. I know that Ray Harryhausen, for instance, is scheduled to be signing at one of the exhibitor booths.
