Cool News
HOUSE OF A 1000 CORPSES has a lion to roar for it!
Hey folks, Harry here... with an update that will please as well as disturb all or some of you. First the good news... HOUSE OF A 1000 CORPSES has a distributor in MGM. Second the bad news, it will be cut to an R for release. Third, that probably means we'll get an Unrated DVD release at some point and we'll finally get a chance to see this sucker! Here ya go....
Hey hey hey,
It's finally happened. The controversial (=
masterpiece) movie "House of 1000 Corpses" has finally
gotten a distributor and a (tentative) release date
(month, anyway). MGM has picked up the movie, at a cut
up R rated state. I've been wanting to see this for
soooo long. Ever since I heard about it, then saw the
teaser, like ... two years ago. Hopefully we'll get a
director's cut on video, but you never know. Zombie's
planning on releasing it at halloween (which we
already sort of knew), so it looks like there's more
to look forward to in the coming months.
Just thought that'd all interest you. Here's the link

Keep up the good work. I'll post in with whatever else
interests me that I think I've discovered before
anyone else has.

And I'm jazzed to see this, since I don't exactly live in a hotbed of independent film. Even if I have to wait for DVD, well at least it'll be on DVD, and I can watch it then. Bitchin. And I hope I cut off a "first" bitch, too.
-
I have been fallowing HO1000C since I first saw the teaser way back, and It's good to finally know that zombie's project is finally getting out there, Cut down or not.
-
I thought the reason that Universal dropped it was because Rob Zombie didn't want to cut it to an R rating. Now, in order to get distribution from MGM, he cuts it for an R?!!! Is there something to the Universal fiasco that I missed that clears this up or did Rob just decide to give in finally? In any case, it's gonna be some scary shit.
-
...anyone want to take bets on how long until the deal falls apart and we have to wait another 2 years to see this flick? sk
-
Are you all THAT geeky that your dying to see THIS! Ugh, man.... What do I expect from people who think Bruce Campbell is the greatest actor of our time instead of an average actor in mostly average corny movies. Bond1217@aol.com

This is coming from the studio that released SHOWGIRLS for chrissakes?! I hate censorship...:-P

I love the smell of foundering movie studios in the morning

Thank MGM's pathetic box office for this. They must be getting desperate to pick this up after it was turned down by everyone (no reflection on the film). Glad it's getting a release, even though I don't think it's my cup of tea, per se.

Examples:
Happiness -
Hail Mary -
LIE (although it was pretty good)-
A Cook, A Thief, A Wife and her Lover, or whatever that dumb movie was. -

House of 1000 Totally Irrelevant, Inexplicably Arrogant Psuedo-I
by nocureforfools
that's the sequal. it's just been greenlighted. it should be playing on a direct-to-video screen near you sometime in the next 30 years or so. you know, sometime during the inevtiable retro 90s era of pop-culture marketing. man, how can you be retro-retro? that will be certainly be something to see.

and I remember Rob Zombie saying somewhere that he didn't have to make any drastic changes and was happy with it. I could be totally off, but I remember reading that a couple of places.
-
They are desperate to get their grubby hands on any low cost picture to save them from inevitable bankruptcy. The lion in the logo might as well be replaced by a kitten. But it is nice to know that this movie will finally go into wide release after so long, and that any studio has the courage to pick it up. I have a feeling Universal dumped this picture because they have never really had a unanimously hated motion picture before, and they don't intend to take that chance. But I don't think this is going be unanimously hated. I think it will become another mega horror cult classic, like Evil Dead, even if it doesn't get much reception in theatres. True cult classics never do. And anyway, I'm sure that after such MGM tankers as Rollerball, they make this movie look good to the MGM execs.

No cure for fools -- hey man i'm no fan of rob zombie but to say he's an irrelevant one-hit wonder rock star has-been is pretty fucking stupid. the guy has been all over the place for over a decade now. personnally, i'm kinda sick of him, but your assertion was fucken dum. he's got a huge fan base, and has for a long time. sincerely, fun guy
-
Hmm... Someone's being a tad sour-grapesy?
One-hit-wonder? Zombie's been consistently putting out good music since White Zombie's debut release, and Thunderkiss '65, More Human Than Human, Supercharger Heaven, Electric Head, Dragula and Living Dead Girl have ALL done well, even if Dragula IS probably the best-known.
Extensions? Jeez, the guy's been growing his 'locks for YEARS now.. he's famed for the damn things. And yes, I've seen them up close, they're real. Smell real, too, after a gig!
OK, he can be a bit of an arrogant bugger, but so can most people when put under any sort of media spotlight. I've known worse...
What ANY of your statement had to do with the movie, however, is anyone's guess... -
Is there a lot of sexual content in this movie? Because no film gets rated NC-17 for violence and gore alone.
-
Didn't Romero's entire dead trillogy get and X/NC-17 rating with no sex in the movies what so ever?
-
Oh, and if I'm not mistaken Universal dumped HOA1000C DESPITE the fact the Rob was willing to cut it for an R rating. They just didn't want to release the movie. This is when that woman at Universal decided that horror movies weren't for her studio. This is also why 'Spawn of Chuckie' will never get made. I just hope a theatre in my area will play this movie so I don't have to wait till video
-
Sure Ill see the R rated version than wait for the unrated DVD ......you know it's coming. Pls....oh pls......I want a good horror movie!!! Oh by the way, fuck all boy bands.
-
...what the HELL, that's gonna be a disappointment! I prefer uncut, unrated version over edited bullshit! I'm one of a few who actually saw the longer director's cut version of 1900 (the NC-17 version that had a very limited release in theatre in 1993 and disappeared never to see the light of day on video) on NTSC tape converted from PAL U.K. 18 cert. version and I think the longer cut version is better than an edited R rated version. I hate the MPAA and the studio mind control. Why don't they follow up the success of Y Tu Mama Tambien by releasing House of 1000 Corpses unrated?
-
can you say "Patch Adams".
-
I saw this film(if you could even call it that)last year at a free preview screening where they seek the audience's input. Let me tell you that this movie is absolutely horrible. It is a cinematic abortion. Its not the subject matter that I have a problem with (I am a fan of Rob Zombie), but the it has absolutely no story, some of the worst direction I have ever seen, not to mention horrible acting, lame effects, awful camerawork and even worse editing.
-
i've never heard of it but now i have it seems so cool my nuts are gonna bust rob the zombie dude would make an interesting director
-
As someone who's been paying attention to good Mr. Zombie for an awfully damn long time now, I'm glad that MGM is going to release his flick. While his directorial skills may be questionable, his love for the Genre ISN'T. If nothing else, it
should be an interesting change
from slick and shiny focus-grouped, market-tested, mass-produced, first-weekend 'blockbusters'. I'll admit that as Rob's cult of personality grows, his musical output is deteriorating in quality
, but I can still respect the man
for not bending his schtick to fit mainstream tastes. I put him into the Slipknot-System of a Down category of shit that has no logical explanation for its mass popularity. His remix-friendly
post-industrial heavy pop couldn't be farther from White Zombie's New-York Art-Noise Pigfuck, I say, "Go Motherfucker, Go" Abuse the entertainment industry as much as they'll let you, Robbo. -
....New York art-noise pigfuck. Before they did the Sample-heavy
Black Sabbath Go-Go dancing "La
Sexorcisto" album, that is. And
"AstroCreep 2000" is STILL one of
the best albums of the 90's. -
trhat's it
-
Heard about this a few weeks back when Episode II was released(and being bootlegged online and overseas). Corpses star Bill Moseley said Zombie reshot or shot some new stuff for the film since Lions Gate picked it up. Moseley is one of the leads in Marcus Cook's soon-to-be-helmed DEAD PLANET.
-
that film project by Rob Zombie? God, what a sell-out. (the guy not the movie; haven't seen the movie) If Mr. Zombie was half as cool as he thinks he is, he'd still be fronting for White Zombie instead of producing that lame-ass repetitive as hell techno bullshit he's been been doing ever since he discovered Trent Reznor. Dumbass.
-
If we're so stupid, why are you even on this site? Moron. WHO'S LAUGHING NOW... UH-HUH, UH-HUH... WHO'S LAUGHING NOW... HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, .......... I'll swallow your soul, I'll swallow your soul (gasp). Swallow this, bitch!
-
Yes, films do get NC-17 rating for violence alone. It doesn't happen that much nowadays (at least that I know of) because not too many films have extreme violence in them. But....all three Dawn and Day of the Dead got X ratings for their violence. Scarface was originally rated X because of the violence. There were a few more, but I can't remember them right now.
-
This movie better be as horrifying
as the video for "Never Gonna Stop." That thing gives me
nightmares every time I see it.
There have been very few decent
American horror movies for awhile-
they're all about teenage models
getting stalked by masked morons.
