What does HULK and the classic video game DigDug have in common'
Hey folks, Harry here with a Dig Dug style report about the Hulk's movements in San Francisco. I've also heard tale that there will be a major action sequence on the Golden Gate Bridge, which has seen action in SUPERMAN and IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA, but from the looks of things, this'll be the biggest amount of damage that the Bay Area will have seen since Harryhausen unleashed that giant pentopus on it way back in the fifties. Here ya go...
Hey Harry,
Got a couple of scoops for ya on THE HULK since this past week they were
filming near to some business functions I was attending. Got to watch them
film for a few days...
I'm sure that if you have been following the recent on-line reports you
know that Hulky himself goes on a rampage throughout the streets of San
Francisco. Yet rather than unleashing a wrecking on everything above
ground, the Green One actually gets under the street. Wanted to add my two
cents to the whole thing.
Ang Lee and Co, were filming this past week at the top of Montgomery Street
where the Hulk runs up hill, underground, hitting his head on the underside
of the street bouncing the parked cars in a wave-like fashion as he passes
underneath them. As the top of this steep hill he smashes his way through
the concrete, flipping an old Volkswagon van which hits the nearby
cars. One by one in a domino-like effect the cars slide down the hill,
running and bumping into each other. When good ol' Betty (Jennifer
Connelly, dressed in a maroon sweater and jeans) sees the 15-foot Hulk
(yes, you heard correctly), he relaxes and begins to change back into Dr.
Banner. They embrace, completely surrounded by SWAT and National Guard
soldiers. Sam Elliot, dressed in Desert-Storm-like garb, approaches them
from behind.
People, from what I could tell from the crew, they are very excited to be
working on this project and Ang is really putting his whole heart into this
film. With the Hulk, along with T3 and a couple of Matrixes thrown in
there for good measure, next summer is shaping up to be quite a treat.
anon
These first two shots were by David, the first one is the hole in the ground that the Hulk pops out of, you can see Dennis Muren in the baseball cap with plumes of Metalunan hair coming out, and in the second shot... You'll find a big grey head about 15 feet off the ground, that'll give you an idea of scale for The Hulk... who apparently is about Mighty Joe Young size or slightly bigger...

This next shot comes from THX CANUTRON and depicts an aerial view of the disaster. Enjoy...

The rest of these come from our pal, Hank Donat, enjoy...
Hi, Harry. These photos of the Hulk shoot in San Francisco are 100% cooler
than the ones I sent you last week! The Hulk will burst out from under the
street and knock over a cable car. The photos also show the S.W.A.T. trucks,
soldier extras, and the guns used to fight the Hulk.
Enjoy the shots - I'd love to see them on Aint-it-Cool.
All the best,
Hank Donat
