SXSW: The Official Winners!!!

Harry here, Haven't seen many of these below, but my faves of the fest so far, with still 4 more days to go are (no particular order) CQ, ZIGZAG, KHALID, CAT'S MEOW, HOME MOVIE. But I still have so much more to see. Here ya go....

MANITO: Directed by Eric Eason. Produced by Jesse Scolaro, Allen Bain. Synopsis: Growing up in Washington Heights, the former crack-cocaine capital of the world, two brothers try to transcend the residue of violence that enshrouds their community.

THE MISANTHROPE: Directed by Allen Colombo. Produced by Rachel Davis. Synopsis: A boozing sixth grade teacher is roped into directing the annual school play. When he decides to have the kids perform Moliere's The Misanthrope, he finally gets the attention he's been seeking.

MODERN DAYDREAMS: ISLANDS IN THE SKY: Directed by Mitchell Rose. Produced by Ashley Roland, Jamey Hampton, Mitchell Rose. Synopsis: Four people weave 50 feet in the air atop four cherry-pickers, aloft and aloof in their ivory towers.

SPECIAL JURY AWARD FOR DOCUMENTARY SHORT HAZLO POR CUBA: Directed by David Ellsworth. Produced by David Ellsworth, Stephen O'Dell. Synopsis: An experimental documentary shot in Havana, Cuba, which explores the city's street life in an architectural context.

JURY AWARD FOR BEST ANIMATED SHORT PROFILES IN SCIENCE, Directed by Wes Kim. Produced by Wes Kim; Assoc Prod: Jessica L Rose, Nick Simons, Jennifer Matte. Synopsis: Dr. Albert Chung is a pioneer in the field of time-lapse photography. Though plagued by technical problems and his layabout son, Dr. Chung presses onward until he makes a surprising discovery.

Synopsis: An experimental animation film featuring the creation, evolution, and journey of humanoid sculptures through time-lapsed envrionments. VESSEL WRESTLING: Directed by Lisa Yu. Produced by Lisa Yu. Synopsis: A woman serves dinner. She waits. Stuff happens. Everything happens.

JURY AWARD FOR BEST EXPERIMENTAL SHORT N.EW Y.ORK C.ASINO, Directed by Kyle Henry. Produced by Kyle Henry. Synopsis: Everything changed. Nothing changed. There's got to be a morning after, and what awaits is credit card debt. SPECIAL JURY AWARD FOR EXPERIMENTAL SHORT CANDIDE, Directed by John Davis. Synopsis: A village asleep, as the average TV watcher roams through the happy-go-lucky world of publicity. In this paradise, a feeling of discomfort lurks, as cartoon sounds attempt to reassure us it’s all a game; just like the reflex of the baby monkey seeking protection through its artificial mother.

INTERVIEW WITH SPIKE JONZE, Directed by Jonah Kaplan. Produced by Jonah Kaplan, Jannat Gargi. Synopsis: An interview with director Spike Jonze goes horribly awry.
