When And Where You Can See The Next STAR WARS EPISODE TWO Trailer'!'!'!

Published at:  Feb 28, 2002 4:01:59 PM CST

Hey folks... Harry here in London, England. Out my window I can see that big clock that Gorgo attacked, the downtown devastated by the evil turmoil of QUATERMASS AND THE PIT and earlier today I stopped by Moriarty's arch-enemy's pad at 221B Baker Street... He's gotten rich, has his own statue, and wants to work with me to show Moriarty up. Holmes claims that there could be a screening in England of the film that the trailer below is for... Is he just the damnbable liar that Moriarty always called him? Can he disguise me as a 12 year old British School Girl (a sexy one?)? We'll have to wait and see. Meanwhile I have received word from the great EL ZOIDO about this story that Entertainment Weekly is running about FOX debuting the next STAR WARS trailer... a 2 1/2 minute one filled with Jedi Fighting and Mace Windu showdown stuff. March 10th right after MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE and before X-FILES!!! Sounds cool. If Holmes drops the ball, I'll be glued to my tv.

It will be the new home of a past "poster". To find out who, check the email address. From a topical perspective, the above TalkBack article is entertaining, fairly well-written, and not too revealing. Keep up the good work! P.S. by the_tao_of_eric

I admit, I really want this film to be good. I enjoy certain things about The Phantom Menace, but it's no secret that it wasn't the film we all wanted it to be. We secretly wanted Luke, Han and Leia back on the big screen. Many of us are Star Wars addicts. I was really hesitant at first to think this movie could be any good. After all, just look at his last film. But after viewing the trailer several times, reading the synopsis and several script reviews, I think it could turn out to be an enjoyable movie. By the way, Willow is a piece of shit. I seriously hope that dude was joking. I really like Lord of the Rings and I hope we get to have a great Star Wars movie as well because they're both awesome. Later.

I still say Mace Windu is going to turn trator.

    by killgore

"Et tu, Mace!" We all know how fond Lucas is of referencing mythical tales and biblical accounts. He has already set it up by paralleling Anakin to Jesus (immaculate conception, being the prophesied seed that will bring unity) and given him twelve apostles ( the twelve Jedi of the council) so the question that begs to be be ask is "Who is Judas?" I say Mace, because we know it is not Yoda, and if it was anyone else, who'd care? He is the only one in which turning traitor would be a shock. Plus, as we see here, he has a purple lightsaber. Lucas equates red lightsabers as evil and blue and green as good. Mace displays a visual duplicity. Every piece of information serves a purpose and the lightsaber serves as a visual clue. As for Anakin, I think he will turn to the darkside by giving into the emperor's (Satan's) temptation of giving all the kingdoms of the galaxy in exchange for one act of worship. Reguardless, it is going to make a fine contextual read along with Joseph Campbell's criticisms.

    Romance

    by ernst blofeld

From that trailer with Anakin and Padme, I don't think the romance side is being handled too badly. It may seem somewhat cheesy, but that's often what happens to you with love - you say cheesy things. Most of wish we could spout off wondrous lines of movie style dialogue - but we dont. Anyone who doesn't recognise this feeling and emotion obviously hasn't been in love. Hmm, you should get out more methinks. Actually I really should back to that troublesome Mr Bond, I seem to be becoming a tad emotional in my old age (you try being dropped down a 100ft chimney...). P.S Harry - if you don't read a copy of Empire Magazine while in Blighty and don't agree its the best magazine ever, you dont deserve to have any fantasies involving schoolgirls...

  • I am sick buying into the media's attempt to glorify the firefighters and police officers as REAL HEROS. It is a preprogrammed, knee-jerk reaction we have men forced to digest. "When I say FIREMAN, your little heart will go pittypat and fill up with pride. Conversely, when I say terrorist, you will shudder and say 'nuke those Arab faggots'". No one is willing to think for themselves but instead willfully chug and dispense this dreck. Americans are manipulated into buying into these arbitrary labels when in fact they mean nothing.

    Spike Milligan

    by gabba-uk

I mailed Harry with the news of Spikes death as it broke but I'm sure Harry was in transit towords old Blighty. Many of you guys on the other side of the Pond may never of heard of Spike but without him You wouldn't have Monty Python and all the other pretenders to the Crown of King of Modern British Comedy. You wouldn't have got Peter Sellers as it was the meeting of the two along with Harry Secombe and Micheal Bentine that created the Goons on BBC radio. Eddie Izzard today described him as the Godfather of British Comedy. His Death is front page news here so Harry will know all about Spike by the time he gets to his booksigning on Friday. In fact Harry while you are in Borders buy some of Spike books. You will laugh your ass off. By the way so I'm not totally off topic, how cool is that shot of Sam Jackson with light sabre out? Don't you just want the next line he says to be 'Well I'm mushroom cloud laying mother fucker you Cloned assholes!!' I'll leave with what the Daily Mirror had on it's front page today. A picture of a gravestone with what Spike once said he wanted his to say. "I told you I was ill." Farewell Spike you will be missed but not forgotten.

Are you saying that firefighters and police officer's aren't heroes? Look at their jobs, for fuck's sake. They spend every day saving people's homes, arresting criminals, and saving people's lives. And at the same time they get burned, suffocated, shot at, and have a fucking building fall on them. All while getting shitty pay. And worst of all, stupid snot-nosed shitheads who have probably been arrested for all types of stupid-teenage things spend their days mouthing off about them on a movie website. Dickweek.

Dickweek? Is that some gay porn you subscribe to?

    by killgore

I am duly impressed that you could conjure such thoughts yourself. You missed my point completely. I am not commenting on firefighters or officers themselves, but upon the media and the thoughtless way everybody buys into it. Case in point, how could you possibly be moved to do anything but hurl after being subjected to the Superbowl halftime-show laser light tribute spectacular for the "REAL HEROS". And that is what this CBS special is pandering to. By the way, I love the way that instead of addressing an argument, those that post resort to inventing personal attacks on character. Posters respond to coherence by saying, "well then you are a stinky-head who farts and smells his own farts and likes the smell of his own farts and you buy Dickweek gay porn because you like homosex and blah, blah blah (yay me I am winning an argument!)." That is a juvenile fallacy in thought. You should have learned that in any freshman Principals of Thinking class.

    by lobanhaki

I also have to take issue, gently, with those who are calling fanatically for people to hero-worship the firefighters and policemen out there. All in all, these people are heroes, but how can you possibly presume to tell other people who and what they can admire? The case for admiration for these people has been made. There is no need to belittle others, and to belittle the importance of culture, art and storytelling, in order to make these people stand out. What can be done is simply this: Write your best stories, make your best movies, and take the things you care about, and weave through the fibers of truth and understanding the tapestry of your expression. You cannot stop others from saying their peace, but nobody is necessarily stopping you from making your point either. And ridicule does not constitute such obstruction, unless you really care that much about other people's opinion, and that little about your own.

    by zarles

I really didn't want to get into this, but Killgore, listen to yourself. You sound like a putz, so I call you a putz. Plain and simple. Yes, I'll agree with you up and down that the American media (and the UK media, and the South American media, and the Czechoslovakian media, and pretty much every media source you can name) is very sensationalist and incredibly schlocky at times. Don't even get me started on the brutality of UK tabloids. But, back to the subject that's way off subject at the same time - the way you phrased yourself back in your first post sounded really damn insulting to those fire fighters and police officers. Go back and read it for yourself, and perhaps if you can stop patting yourself on the back about how much sense you're making, or about how all of us are fucking idiots for having the audacity to disagree with you, maybe you'll see it. Enough of this shit... Star Wars kicks ass, and I'm gonna leave it at that. Oh, and Dickweek magazine is pretty fucking incredible, too...

Previously, I commented about the possibility of Mace turning traitor. The purple lightsaber presents a visual duplicity in its color. George said blue for good guys and red for bad. It is inevitable. Mace will be instrumental in the destruction of the Jedi and forcing Obi-Wan Thursday and Yoda into exile.
