    2nd Trailer DID Suck!

    by hexen

I saw the 2nd ICE AGE trailer at Apple yesterday and agree with everyone else, it has managed to pretty much crush all hope of this being something special - the first trailer with the rat and the acorn was brilliantly executed! - but the 2nd trailer undoes all that with badly drawn CG and a really weak "seen it all before" plot......shame

Since this is the first pre-release movie I've seen posted on AICN in my area, I guess I'll have to go. I'll let you know what I think, Harry!

    Badly drawn???

    by half vader

You guys are crazy. Yes the plot is looking like just another road/buddy movie from that second small glimpse, but badly drawn? Look again, it's not polygonal (is that a word?;) ) so much as graphic. I reckon they should be applauded for not doing quasi-realism like everyone else. These guys know how to model. Look at the rocks and ice. It all has a stylised look, sorta like those manga/anime garage kits with the really sharpened angular drapery.

By the way, anyone who hasn't seen the incredible 'Bunny' short MUST track it down. You all owe it to yourselves as lovers of fine animation. It sure deserved its oscar. I think there's a tiny clip a few seconds long at the Blue Sky site, but I can't find the seven minute thing anywhere.
