BLADE 2 goodness flooding online!!!
Hey folks, Harry here with the latest on BLADE 2!!!

Below I have the link and the password you'll need to go access a good bunch of fun over at BLADE 2. What I like about what they did on this site, that I haven't really seen done too much elsewhere is the DIRECTOR COMMENTARY that all the pre-production art has by Guillermo Del Toro.

You can look over Wayne Barlowe, Mike Mignola, Tim Bradstreet and the others' work and listen to Guillermo in that magnificent glorious big bastard of a voice of his... that insideeeeeuuuuus maniacal giggle as he lets you in on the secret for why he assembled this group of artists.

Now, Website budget willing, I hope that they expand on the pre-production art side of things a bit each week, so that we get more commentary, more images on this side of things, because technically this type of material is exactly what I'd love to see on a BLADE 2 dvd as well. I mean this is getting a lot of that work out of the way in advance, and it feels so intimate and personal due to having Guillermo sit down and talk about each image and the context it has in the final film.

I just want to hear Guillermo's x-rated explanation and initial pitch of the Reapers' neck and suckage areas. It's classic and hilarious. Alas the friggin MPAA watches over these damn Studio websites in case babies that can't handle words like PUSSY and FUCK because god knows you'll never hear language like that in an R-RATED MOVIE CALLED BLADE 2. Sigh... Well here's the info on how to access all of the above and much much more!

Most of the theater chuckled or made an "ehhh" noise tonight when the "Blade 2" trailer came on (seeing LOTR, by the by.) One man said clearly: "Was anyone crying out for fucking Blade 2?" Which was actually fairly close to what I was thinking. I hope this is better than the first one, otherwise Wesley may soon be making the move to direct-to-video pictures. On the other hand, the trailer for "Minority Report" looked pretty damn good. Cruise... Spielberg... MAX VON SYDOW (who surely deserves a place on Harry's Uber-God list.)It would take a Herculean effort of suckitude to sink this movie. "Signs" looked about as interesting as "Spider-Man," and "The Time Machine" looked well... imagine the remake of "Planet of the Apes" if, say, Roland Emmerich had directed it instead of Tim Burton. And of course, LOTR was entertaining as before, though I now knew exactly when to get up and take a piss. Movies R Fun.

New Line are gonna have a GREAT year, by the looks of things.

Miramax now sucks corn-encrusted buffalo turds.

The director has left(Tarsem). How long before Nic Cage leaves? I am not looking at or reading anything about Blade 2. Can't ruin another Movie by Knowing to much about it. Black hawk tomorrow.
-
It's been going on for a week and it's pissing me off, ever since that fucking Tarantino website crap. Keep on topic.
-
Doesn't Wesley Snipes look like a chunky MC Hammer in that pic??
Not that this flick is going to suck like that. There's a good vibe on this one...I like the tats and I'm hopping for some brutal carnage that's been missing in these times of fake CGI gore. So please Hammer DO hurt 'em.

Wow, this films really coming out of the shadows to take it's place as my next number 1 film to see now that Fellowship has hit. Gets more and more impressive with every new bit of info.

After having the great pleasure of seeing Mimic and Cronos at the weekend and now seeing this site I have no doubt that Blade 2 will piss all over its mediocre predecessor and give us a decent Wesley Snipe film.
-
where the hell is it?
Not on the concept art pages for sure...
eh?

Whedon says Buffy would kick Blade's ass, INDEED!!
-
Seriously, it's one of the best films of the year, a film I find myself unable to compare with others. Beautiful cinematography, characters whose actions are horrifying and yet make sense, and lots of moral dilemnas. Oh yeah, and there's a ghost, a big ass bomb, a hot latin chick, a teacher with one leg, and some good old fashioned spookiness. One of the best of the year.

very niiiiiiiice. And well, I ALWAYS like Mignola's stuff. He's a master at b&w. Man, here's another movie I cannot wait to see.

But as cool as your movie looks, it won't be as kick ass as the Day Walker's newest flick.
PS I'll still see it but not as many times as I plan on seeing Blade's. -

I'll bet Linda had no problem with Brad Pitt as a Vampire.

"Keep your dick outa my mashed potatoes." Or, to translate, keep your religious convitions outa my Talkbacks. Don't EVER say that again, or We'll wad up copies of the Constitution and shoot them at you at speeds of 500 miles an hour. Got it? Good.
-
"I don't believe in God, but I'm afraid of him." Well, I believe in God, and the only thing that scares me is Linda Mason. Just kidding - she puts the "Fun" back into "Fundamentalist". Blade 2 Will Rock.
-
But only long enough to burn you at the stake. Oh, and I might linger long enough to toast a few marshmellows, too.____Bee

...and what the fuck is she doing preaching about the Devil on Talk Back?! Is that bitch really stupid enough to think *Blade II* is anything more sinister than a gory action movie? Of course, she does have the right to say what she wants on Talk Back. Just like I have the right to tell her she's full of shit.
-
Am I the only one who detected obvious sarcasm in "Linda"s post? C'mon y'all, dont fall for these things so quickly, it just makes you look dumb. I am neither with nor against you. Simple as that.
-
but just in case you're not: do you really believe the Church and gov't should co-produce movies to ensure they don't pollute the world? In that case, why do you believe the Church (Catholic I guess?) does more good spending money overseeing movies than it could running orphanages, charities, hospitals, etc?
-
At least if you are going to be sarcastic, try to say things correctly..."I'm all for FREE speech as long as there is someone there to monitor it?" Hello, kinda defeats the meaning there....
-
The first one was MILDLY entertaining, but this goes on the FX 2, CADDYSHACK 2, ARTHUR 2, SPECIES 2 list of most unnecessary and un-asked for sequels ever made! What's next, RICH MAN'S WIFE 2? CLAY PIGEONS 2? SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE 2? HALF BAKED 2? KEYS TO TULSA 2????? NO ONE, NO ONE, NO ONE, NO ONE in the world, except for a very few teenage boys and comic fans, were asking for a sequel to BLADE, New Line. This is going to BOMB something fierce. I'm surprised, though not much, that this is getting so much press on AICN, where far cooler movies have gone unnoticed, especially in the last six months. Then again, it's based on a comic, so therefore it automatically warrants more press on AICN than, say, TRAINING DAY or BABY BOY or MONSTER'S BALL. Notice, before you flame me, I'm not saying it's going to be bad....Guillermo is cool, and Wesley is a strong presence when used correctly, and it will be a lot of fun, but this is one of the most bizarro financial decisions I've ever seen. I know the first was a MINOR hit, but it's not the kind of film that really sticks in generic filmgoers' minds. This reminds me of the occasionally proposed BAD BOYS 2, another HORRIBLE idea, because though BAD BOYS was a small hit in 1995, it's not a film ANYONE has been clammoring for more of. You have a very short window to get out a sequel to a modest surprise hit, and BLADE 2 is coming about two years too late....Then again, watch me be totally wrong, and this thing makes $120 mil. But not likely.
-
Can't you tell the Linda Mason thing's a joke? Sheesh, how can you people fall for this? Like a religious right, pro-censorship advocate would be perusing an internet geek-film site. Get a grip, I'm sure it was a joke. Besides, most people with "her" (she's actually most likely 16-year-old comic book geek giggling to himself you're believing him) views are such deep white trash that they wouldn't be able to plug a computer in, let alone register to TalkBack. Nor would they bother. It's a joke, folks...and a hotmail account isn't THAT hard to fake, if you're buying it because their e-mail address sounds legit for a holy roller.

I mean, most of us know how to deal with trolls in chat rooms. Just because a troll found a different way to go about it doesn't mean he/she/it is worthy of our attention.
I mean, really? What sort of *religious zealot* would go through the trouble of coming to this site, obtaining a talkback ID, and posting here? Honestly? I am a man of faith myself but you don't see me slamming everything in sight. In fact, I can very easily differentiate between entertainment and real life.
Little kids should not see movies like Blade 2. That's why there's a ratings system (that's been in place for quite some time now).
At any rate, don't dignify "Linda" with a response. A troll by any other name still smells like turds. -
Up here in Canada our government DOES pay for movies. One of them is a sex flick called "Bubbles" something or other. Terrible movie, but that's your wonderful idea in practice. Our tax dollars at work. Maybe we should just give you all the money you need and YOU can make sure we only see or hear the things you like. No chance of abuse there, no sirree...

But I've got nothing better to do right now. And she spells real good.

It has *SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS* people gutting each other, boobies, animal mutilations, animal cruelty, boobies, more people killing each other, and WHORES working as spies for the Catholic Church! *END SPOILERS* See it, AT THE PERIL OF YOUR MORTAL SOUL! Oh yeah, and I'm not against Linda Mason, as it's impossible to ally yourself against the FIGMENT OF SOMEBODY'S FUCKING IMAGINATION! She's a troll people, and might I add a damn funnier troll than that Mercier bitch.
-
At any rate, to counter what someone else had said, there was some general excitement in the theatre when the Blade 2 trailer came on. It was noticable due to the extremely NON-reaction the trailer for Austin Powers 3 got (no snickers, laughs ...nothing).

I agree with FranklinCobb. The hideously unfunny Austin Powers trailer was awful. I hope it's not emblematic of how the movie's gonna play. As for "Blade II," I definitely got amped up watching Blade kick some ass to "Name of the Game."
-
Man, this year must be an apology for 01... because, damn, with sequels to just about every existent franchise to come out in the past couple years, it feels good to be alive.. Blade 2, LOTR 2 (Two Towers), Episode 2 (even with a ridiculas subtitle), X-Men 2, Matrix 2... hell, I'll even accept Austin Powers 3.. Hell yeah, for once, there might be a bunch of sequels coming out in the same year that are decent, maybe even good or great!
-
Hey, now, don't be dissin' the X-Men movie. It did what it set out to do and didn't disappoint fans nor make them embarassed to be seen at the theatre watching it....(unlike a certain boy-band cameo film we are all very familiar with).
I agree that 2002 looks like a VERY good film year. In 2001 I went to the theatre twice, for Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back (er...disappointing) and for Lord of the Rings (sorry to mention it, but it's relevant in the topic of good fan films).
Blade 1 did a lot of things right, and was surprisingly good considering I was expecting a total throwaway film. I wouldn't exactly call it heavy cinema but it was still fun. As long as they don't mess with that too much Blade 2 will be a very similar romp. So bring on Spidey! Star Wars! Blade! Signs! Lord of the Rings! YEE HAW!
In the immortal talkback words...Can't wait, such a huge fan! -
What I meant to say is...."Snicker....that's what Jean said about Wolverine!"

I was never much of a math whiz, and granted I wasn't even born til 1976, but from what I've read on the 60's and 70's, it wasn't the golden age of family values that you'd have us believe. No, that would be the fifties, OH WAIT, that was the time of McCarthyism and paranoia, I must be thinking of the 40s, OH WAIT, that was the time of the Holocaust and the Atom Bomb, maybe I'm thinking of the 20s and 30s, OH WAIT, that was the time of prohibition giving rise to organized crime and murder in the streets, shit, have we EVER had a golden age of family values Ms. Mason? Maybe you'd have to go all the way back to when we raped, infected and murdered the Native Americans to steal this land, OH WAIT, that's when we were burning witches at the stake...

To Charles Grady et al - Why they are making this sequel..
by wesley snipes
Because they want to pull an Austin Powers 2. Blade was a sleeper hit in the theaters and a huge success on video/DVD - Just like the first Austin Powers flick. And you know what happened there: AP1 made some 30-odd million in the theaters but AP2 made $200+ million! I doubt Blade has that much appeal, but $100 million would still be very pleasing, I'm sure. *** And what's with people here? Most under-30s I know think the first Blade flick was fucking awesome... at least on the first viewing and enough to make them want to see the sequel.
-
But just give it up. Enough people on this talkback have already said it before me, that you are a troll who is just fucking with the fan boys. But please please please please please give it a rest already. I'm pretty annoyed by it myself because truthfully, it's just not very believeable. For a pro-religion and pro-government person like yourself coming on here and preaching all this stuff about our movies today being nothing but trash - well, it's just horse shit is what it is. So please give it a rest already. I fell for one troll's comments on a talkback yesterday so I have that kind of feeling where I can just look at this stuff now and laugh but when you drag it out as long as you had it just loses any real reason or point. So I'm not with you and I'm not against you - I just want you to shut the fuck up. After all, you said you believed in freedom of speech but believes it should be monitored. Considering that statement makes no sense whatsoever, if you believe it then fine; you got your freedom of speech - I'm monitoring you. So now shut the fuck up!
-
I guess I didn't see through the complex levels of irony that you have so skillfully brought to the TalkBack. Are you sure there aren't even MORE layers to this running joke? Hmm, maybe not only is it a joke and you're playing along, but maybe you're serious about playing along, but only in an ironic way because it really is a joke. Wow, sorry, yeah, you're too fucking deep for me. Your response to 'Linda' seemed pretty impassioned, so EXCUSE ME for thinking that the majority of people HAD fallen for it. And in any case, I like your ego that you think YOU represent the other people, that by telling people it was a joke I was referring to YOU. Like I singled your lame-ass response out from the others. Oh, please, continue to weave your mastery of wordplay, o genius NJC who is so much smarter than the rest of us.
-
That comment had about as much chance of happening as "Linda" does of being a real person. Like someone else said, nothing else to do at the moment and it was fun to come out of TB retirement to play. Some of you people could fuck up a wet dream.____A Bored Bee

KILL THEM! No, not Hollywood, THE CHILDREN! You can't corrupt the dead! Send their pure and innocent souls to Heaven before they can be turned to the Satanic ways of Tolkien and Rowling! I mean it, KILL ALL THE CHILDREN! Think about it, children are expensive to take care of, so this will cut back on that welfare you worry so much about. Also, children carry lots of diseases (so if we just cut back on medical funding, maybe they'll wipe half of themselves out without our help, like the Indians did). Also, children are just loud and annoying, and they make us take them to movies like THE GRINCH (who, as you all know, represents the redemption of Satan through commercialism) and SHREK (who is obviously a cinematic shorthand for Cain's fallen, beastial form, assumed when he was cast out of Eden for murdering Abel). Finally, killing the children should be EASY! I mean, WE'RE BIGGER THAN THEM! Let's get to it, Ms. Mason, let's start offing the little ankle-biters right now! Because if we don't kill the children (for the good of their pure and chaste little souls, of course), then WHO WILL?
-
I like licking carpet though!
-
Not only would this solve all the problems inherent in raising children up to be good little sons and daughters of God, but would also solve the problems of hunger and starvation the world over. We could treat them like any other crop or chattle, because people are going to keep sinfully having sex anyway. Just go around the world once a year and have a big "kiddie round up" and a feast to follow. Ummm, children. Oh, and Blade 2 looks kick-ass. (Just wanted to stay on-topic). P.S. Linda, thanks for last night, and the goat says thanks to: Baaaa. (They're fun cause they're furry)
-
Kudos.
-
...and whats with calling everyone a "troll"? its such a geek put down. it's sick. ease up a little. Go back to calling people you dislike "pions". Oh, and once again, BLADE SUCKS (and you all know it).
-
'Some of you bastards could fuck up a wet dream', or something like that. Sweet line HB. Where the hell is this TB by Linda- I wanna read it + see what the fuck everyone is whinging about. Out.

Its not fair! Don't take away our linda. This was the funniest thread in months, & someone removed her posts! I wanted to rant some more about her clearly phony posts. C'mon..it was fun. more fun than arguing about which trilogy is better, LOTR & that other one. Oh, & blade is o.k., but c'mon, Spidey's the king, dont even try to compare them.
-
Linda's posts were deleted because of the big contraversy that the press just picked up. Apparently a reporter from the Washington Times got a hold of some photos showing our own Linda Mason fucking the brains out of Jesus Christ. If you want to see them, go to www.youguysaretools.com
iloveyoudrzaius@hotmail.com -
It looks absolutely beautiful, and given Del Toro's track record, this may be one of the best comic book films ever made. I can't wait to see it. As much as I liked Stephen Dorff in the first Blade, I think this may be a better movie.
-
I'd like to submit that to our collection of annoying catch-phrases. It works on so many levels. "Uh oh, Linda Mason has a bomb in her ribcage!" "Can't wait! Such a huge fan... of Linda Mason." "Linda Mason has a communion wafer and cheats on her church." "Linda Mason can go suck a ripe sausage." "First! Linda Mason!" "Fuck catchphrases! And Linda Mason!"

El Gordo (Del Toro) Mexican Wrestling God - He directs as well.
by timbradstreet
I'm totally missing this director commentary over the production sketches thing as well. Maybe there were some bugs they had to work out so they dropped it for the time being. I was very interested to know what El Gordo had to say about everything after a year (we worked on the concepts between November/December of last year) I was hoping it would shed some insight on what did and didn't end up getting used.
Alas, I'll have to wait. Now I have to prick Harry's ears for any info since he has a photographic memory stored under that curly red doo.
Hopefully, they will be showing some of Leo Duranona's storyboards here as well. It was a pleasure watching that man work. Genius.
