HERC Has Seen ROSWELL 3.7!!

Published at:  Nov 20, 2001 3:35:41 AM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

Roswell 3.7 FAQ

What’s it called?

”Interruptus.”

Who’s responsible?

Teleplay is credited to David Simpkins.

What does TV Guide say?

“While on their honeymoon, Isabel and Jesse are stalked by her alien lover, Kivar (Spence Decker), who wants to take Isabel back to their home planet. Meanwhile, Liz and Maria learn that Philip is investigating Max and Tess's disappearance.”

What is TV Guide not telling us?

Max and Michael secretly follow Isabel and Jesse to California to assassinate Kivar.

Do Max and Michael kill Kivar?

No.

Why not?

They're ill-equipped. Besides, Liz and Maria discover Kivar inhabits the body of an innocent.

What else is TV Guide not telling us?

The evil alien Villandra inside Isabel begins to assert her dominance, luring the new bride to secret lust-meetings with Kivar.

Is Isabel aware this is happening to her?

Yes – but she is powerless to resist.

Does Isabel finally lose her virginity by episode’s end?

She does!

Does Jesse learn that Isabel is an alien by episode’s end?

He does not!

Are Jesse and Isabel still together at episode's end?

That would be telling.

Does Philip Evans make any headway?

Some, especially when he begins comparing notes with Liz’s dad.

Should we worry about this? I mean, Buffy’s mom was able to handle it when she found out her daughter was a vampire slayer, right?

Depends. Does this series have the courage to let parents turn on their own children?

What’s good?

Isabel’s contentious reunion with Max and Michael. The fantasy sequence in which Isabel, Max and Michael reveal all. The guy who plays Kivar does a great job. Liz's super-low jeans. Villandra’s Stepfordy visage. The final three words.

What’s not so good?

The pretty-boy hired to play Jesse is kind of a stiff; it’s hard to understand what Iz sees in him beyond the muscles and Harvard law degree. The hilarious Majandra Delfino, who plays Maria, is meanwhile this series’ most exploitable asset, yet her role has all but evaporated this season. What the dilly?

Herc’s rating for “Roswell” 3.7?

***1/2

Screaming out first was so last year. Can't really say I have ever watched Roswell and I am a sci fi nut. Reminded me too much of Dawson's Creek.

Did anyone tape last week's episode???

    by vanourneyjoe

I hope someone can help me. My bonehead roommate switched the channel on the cable box last week one minute into Roswell to watch the lame-ass Michael Jackson concert. If anyone has a tape of last week's episode, I will pay $$ for a tape and shipping costs to get me a copy. Please email me at VanourneyJoe@webtv.net if you can help. PLEASE!!

I had lost all hope for Roswell

    by darth tater

Till last weeks episode! Why would they put together a promo that made it look like the worst piece of shit on television and then hit us with something that was that good? The folks who do promo's for UPN suck at their job.

  • At the beginning of the season, Roswell looked like it was heading quickly into bad melodrama. Especially the plots about Max trying to locate the old ship, Liz's dad and his bizarre ultimatums, the Evan's kids faulty relationship with their parents. Roswell looked to be the loser against Smallville. Then in November we started seeing payoffs. Joe Pantoliano as the new shape shifter was teriffic, and all those silly relationship plots started getting explained. The wedding episode was better than expected. Meanwhile, on Smallville we get a football coach that could control fire followed by a virtually identical episode about a football player that could control ice. With both 24 and Roswell getting good, I doubt I will see another ep of Smallville.

    why last week's episode worked...

    by mirandarocks

it *shock* actually had all the characters in the same places and the same time... actual real live interaction between all the characters...all the best Roswell episodes are when the characters are working together, interacting and showing off the awesome chemistry the actors have with each other...that is definitely what this show needs more of (oh, and more Maria, and Kyle and Jim) I have a sinking feeling this could be the last season for Roswell and i'd like it to not suck.......

    Smallville

    by street legal

I still prefer watching Smallville over Rosewell. To each his/her own! I was into the 1st season and a half of Rosewell, but personally, I stopped having any feeling for the characters, and it got way too into the mythology- so much so, once I missed an episode, the one's that followed were too hard to follow. Obviously people dig that type of show (heavy mythology), but I personally wasn't too into the premise to begin with. I am enjoying Smallville quiet a bit though. I like the characters and so far it's pretty entertaining. But like I said, to each her/his own!

Roswell is truely a character driven show with a side of scifi!

    by seth maxim

Roswell at the beginning of the season of the show was not slow it was just setting up the base of the story for this season that's all. That's a good thing. I like the time Roswell takes to make the best of the show they can despite all the negative criticism from people who can't think for themselves and end up doing what the WB want's them to do.SLAVES!This show ROCKS! I LOVE ROSWELL! I think this season is going to surprise some people in how much the fan base and viewers are going to grow. I would say good luck to Roswell, but they don't need it because they have substance to their show.

    Roswell is HISTORY!

    by man-thing

Television history, that is , in the making. Just like Buffy, whose previous seasons have started off slow, Roswell is quickly becoming more intricate and envolving than anyone could have imagined. People who want still dismiss it as "Dawsons Creek" with aliens are the same people who make the Olson twins and "Everybody Loves Raymond" so popular in the ratings. Roswell has taken a premise that isn't easy to make, and turned it into detailed and edgey television. For those of you who haven't seen it, you should give it a chance and find out it's not like you expected, and for those of you who walked away from it for one reason or another, come back (you know you want to). The story line on Roswell is building up to epic porportions with the intro of Kivar, the alien that murdered the earth aliens previous incarnations. Will the history that took place on Antar be relived on earth? Will the pod squad be able defeat the conquerer who took over their alien planet? Sounds alot better than a new threat on Smallville: A blind date turns deadly when Clark realizes that his new squeeze has a face of Krytonite-infected zits!

    Roswell

    by eva_star

I totally love this series and I hope that it isn't the last season like some ppl say it is. It needs a better timeslot so it won't have to compete with Smallville. Maybe after Enterprise?

This show is so on the up,up and up.

    by parnellbc

If you started watching Roswell this season and were turned off after 2-3 episodes now is the time to return. Granted you missed some of the build up to where we are but you'll catch up quick w/the opener recaps. I am so loving the fact that the parents are finally realizing somehting is up. Max's dad the lawyer is used to going through evidence to find the truth and the truth he finds he may not be able to handle. Questions about Tess, perfect. Hey anyone know where the hot blonde went used to hang out w/the group? Will Mr.Evans put the puzzle on his punch board in the correct order. When will Kivar return? Will the parental units realize Mr.Valenti is holding out on them? Hey, when does Maria's Mom get let in on the parent trap? So much fun to explore. Meanwhile across the dial.....Mutant freak terrozies Smallville(gasp)...is kryptonite to blame? Lets give Lex a hot girlfriend(see USAToday today). If we don't add more T&A the smallminded viewer may tire of Willow er Newspaper Chick and Cordilia er Lana. Anyone who sees Roswell as "Dawsons Creek on sci-fi" hasn't seen enough. If they dont think Smallville is "Dawsons Creek meets Freeks and Geeks" your fooling yourself. Look let me say I tape and later watch Smallville, its fun a familiar story w/a twist...damn its roots and continuity. Roswell is fresh and constantly taking chances, which are paying off. If you aren't at least taping Roswell start. String 3-5 together and watch some time, you should like what you see if you dig the sci-fi scene.

Jesse is the butt-monkey of the group

    by goody2shoes

he got (alien) food poisoning, had a wheelbarrel chucked in front of him, and was knocked unconscious by a rather large branch. At this rate, he's on par with Wile E. Coyote. (sp?)

Hey Sleazy G reasons why its Mr.Evans & not Jesse

    by parnellbc

We know that its Mr.Evans who has the notecards w/Max&Co. on his punchboard because in the episode we see the following. One, Mr.Evans discreetly talking w/Mr.Parker about 'strange activity' and the such. Two, Mr.Evans is seen specifically asking Jim Valenti about Tess, whose notecard is shown on the board. Three, Mr.Evans overall suspicions have been hightened significantly since the opener and Max moving out and being "openly secretive".
Granted Jesse should be curious as hell. However, its a beef cake for the girls to look at. You know Tit for Tat. Jesse's character seems to me to be the bookish brainy type and slow to everything else. Can't wait for more Roswell.

    Roswell is the best

    by angel 97

Roswell Rocks! I think that Roswell is the best sci-fi show on the planet. It deals with 3 teenage kids (Max, Isabel, & Michael)that are aliens from another planet, and with the help of there human friends(Liz, Maria,& Kyle)will help them in there mission. I hope that the show Roswell stays on the air forever. For I'm a True ROSWELLIAN

Of course the other actors are good too, but JB rocks my boat and I'am just if you dislike this show or Jason the don't watch it. I am a true ROSWELLIAN and a BEHR fan. ROSWELL RULEs EARTH

Finally we're getting back to our roots...

    by led gopher

this is the kind of stuff I miss. All the tension from season one. How sad it is to see what Valenti has become. :( Anyway, now that they seem to be getting back to the fact that they are aliens, trying to hide from danger all around, the show is shaping up. Let's hope they continue.
