STAR WARS EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES 2nd Trailer Here!!!

Published at:  Nov 09, 2001 3:05:40 PM CST

What do ya know folks, Lucasfilm decided to actually serve a larger portion of their audience. Stick the Episode 1 in your DVD drive in your Mac and Click Here!!! The trailer pretty much fucking rules!!!

Hey folks, Harry here. Well, since I'm on a MAC and Lucasfilm apparently loves using MAC developed technology like QUICKTIME, but now has his STAR WARS EPISODE 2 Internet Trailer online accessible only through a Windows based program, which I can't load on my MAC, because it isn't cross-platform happy... Since he's declared war on all Mac users out there in this amazing slap... if anyone out there can get a link that will pull the actual MOV itself down.... that isn't the below address, but the root stationing of the file itself... Let me know. I bought his fucking DVD, but can't get this thing because I'm on MAC. Sometimes I really hate Lucasfilm. ARGH!!!!!

See if you can get this to download - I can't seem to do it. Only seems to work through the InterActual player, and only in Kiosk mode. :(

Good luck!

    LUCASFILM SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

    by notoriousboz

I can not believe that a company like Lucasfilm would slap Mac users in the face like this. Especially considering the Star Wars films are edited and have their sound design done exclusively on the Mac platform. And considering ILM, though they won't admit it, uses Mac for many MANY vfx shots. This is awful, and one can only hope they make the trailer available to Mac users some other way.

    by jefeboy

to just piss away the Mac market like that. GL's head is so far up his ass it's come back through his neck, so in photos you can't even tell the difference.

I assume someone will mirror it soon. I'm sure there are teams of lowlife lawyers just waiting with their cease and desist orders. Bunch of knobs.

Oh, and LOTR will be better than Ep 2 will be better than Harry Potter, and DareDevil and all the other comic book movies will be screwed up because movie people are so blindly formulaic and chronically timid and repeatedly assinine, and Osama Bin Laden licks the fleas from his follower's balls. There, does that cover everything?

    DVD and Mac

    by majorkong

According to a note at The Digital Bits, a pretty cool DVD site, lots of the blame lies with Apple. The article is at http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#macrom.

    It's a shame -- I'm a Mac fan, too.

Macs - not just for losers

    by majorkong

To respond to zerocorpse... I use both Macs and PCs. While there isn't as much software available for the Mac... well, who cares? I didn't buy a Mac to watch movies -- that's what my TV is for. I wanted to learn about DVD authoring, and no PC system (hardware+software) could approach the Mac's bang-for-the-buck. At least from the research I did. If you want to play with cheesy video games and your *Matrix* DVD, get a PC by all means. However, there is a fine selection of quality audio, video, graphics, web development, and desktop publishing software available for the Mac.

    by han ol' buddy

Just wanted to chime in and say that after much trepidation, I saw the preview trailer (also known as the Teaser Preview, not to be confused with the Teaser Teaser or the Teaser Teaser Preview trailer). Anything to generate a little buzz. It rocks and I cannot wait until next week to see it attached to Harry Potter. I spent a little time perusing the message boards at theforce.net this aftrenoon and those are some angry people. Damn! No lives too. They've been waiting since 3 AM and have talked about everything from boycotts to e-mailing Lucas himself to pirating the trailer. Interesting. Anywho, for all of you (and them) that keep asking for the .mov file, you're not gonna get it. Apple and Lucasfilm probably have that thing locked down as water-tight as a frog's ass! Can you seriously not wait 1 week to see it either on the net or at the theater?!?!?? Gimme a break. Get a life. Go spend some money. Support the American economy. Thaty trailer definitely did rock the house though. Wow! "They came out of nowhere!" This gives me high hopes. That is all.

    Lucasfilm Ltd. = Lamefilm Ltd.

    by mike frenzy

I love what George Lucas has done for movies. I cherish each installment of the Star Wars saga. But mandating the use of PC and DVD ROM to get exclusive stuff is just down right biased and lame. Whats the point? To sell more DVDs? The thing was gonna sell like hot cakes and he knew it. I own a PC and I have a DVD ROM player but heres the issue the DVD ROM wont work it doesnt pick up my discs. I called tech support and they told me that Id have to reformat. Well screw that! I love Star Wars but Im not gonna reformat my hardrive just to catch a sneek peek. This "Mystery" trailer should've been released the same way the "Breathing" trailer was. This dvd site pisses a lot of people off and Harry's right it doesnt make sense. Why do they support Apple's Quicktime and tell you to spend 30 bucks on the Pro version to see AOTC stuff in full screen and then deprive innocent Mac users of the pleasures and gifts Lucasfilm has in store?

    Mystery

    by qusilentbob37

In accordance with the first post on thsi thread I have to say I almost blew my load after seeing this trailer for the first time. Everything is fast paced and dark and brings me back to a time when everyone embraced Star Wars and didn't just bitch about Lucas making money or the comic relief inserted into the film. As a Mac user I was slightly upset when I tried earlier today to get the trailer but just went and asked my friend to let use his computer and waa la the second trailer to AOTC was unveiled and I was in seventh heaven.

Harry you just went up a notch

    by grouchomarxist

Harry -- Since you're a Mac user and obviously a Mac fan as you apparently don't have a PC or you would have viewed the Clones trailer at home, you've gone up a notch in my book.

With all the cross-platform software out there, why LucasFragg would screw all of us Mac lovers out of seeing his frikkin' trailer is beyond me. Mac users compose an outsize percentage of the early adapter geeks who fuel word of mouth advertising.

I bought the Ep. 1 DVD -- even tho I didn't think much of the movie -- based on an AICN review on some of the ancillary features. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one. IMHO, the folks who so lovingly gave us Jar Jar should be careful whose hand they bite.....

  • Connectix Virtual PC. As the name suggests (and as you may already know), it allows you to do all sorts of "PC only" things on a Mac... One more reason why Macs rule -- thanks to Connectix, of course. You get the best of both worlds this way.

Should've put both trailers on the DVD

    by x-girls

I mean, really. Why not? People who didn't buy it might see the pictures! It might be posted early!

Well, it also would save fans (on PC and Mac) a lot of trouble and we could see it on a larger screen. I have the DVD, and a PC, but not an overrated overused DVD-ROM.

Only Shrek has made really good use of DVD Rom tech so far. Having to pick it up on starwars.com is needless, and it's like doing something new and original just to be credited for doing something original, not because it's a GOOD IDEA.

    by miss aura

Like I have said before we have a masterpiece. But I cannot help feeling sorry for people without the dvd, I do think that Lucas has been an utter arsehole in doing this. This trailer is far better than the breathing trailer and is more like a trailer for the film. He should be ashamed of himself, and I think that BILL GATES & GEORGE LUCAS are the same person, BOTH MONEY GRABBING BASTARDS. There are people out there who can just afford to buy a PC nevermind a dvd drive. Its probably the worst marketing idea ever, and is putting the words SCUM next to the company Lucasfilm. So to all you poor people out there, hopefully someone will get it online for you to see. I still cant get over the fact that Lucasfilm has done this to you, I think they need to apologise. Like I said though it was a kickass trailer and makes AOTC well worth seeing. Maybe Lucasfilm need to take a leaf out of New Line Cinema's book, because LOTR's trailers have been free and Lucas is becoming the EMPEROR in the universe he created. Hope you feel good about yourself George, you have just put two fingers up to the poor population in this world. Youre such a dick.

    by captainfantastic

Why is it that everyone looks so serious in this trailer? Why isn't anyone having any fun? It looks like Ep. 2 will lack the same energy, spirit and sense of fun that made 4-6 so great. And that was no where to be seen in Ep. 1. Where's the snappy dialogue, where's the esprit de corps, where is anything, for lack of a better word, "magical"? Lucas needs to stop taking himself so seriously and inject the swashbuckling fun back into this series fast.

    It is Lucas's fault

    by corky st. clair

All of you who want to blame Mac for not accepting third party software are wrong. First of all, yes Lucas should have put the trailers right on the DVD. And if he still wanted some sense of releasing them, he could have made them difficult to discover easter eggs and posted the solution today, Nov. 9th. Besides that, he could've just included a text link on the DVD that anyone could open. I know what you're thinking "Lucas didn't do that because he doesn't want everyone sharing the link and ruining the sales of the DVD and Harry Potter." Well, were any of you not going to buy the DVD and then decided to do so when you found out there would be a direct link to Episode II material? I'm sure there aren't many of you. People seem to have already decided whether they want to purchase the Episode I DVD or not regardless of DVD rom. I bought the DVD the day it came out. And as far as Harry Potter, I know I'm going to see it on Friday and if I could get a direct link to the trailer today, I would still see Potter on Friday. Even if I wasn't interested in the Potter movie itself, which I am, I'd still go just to see the trailer on the big screen. So bottom line, Lucas could have done a number of things to make this new trailer available to us Mac users regardless of Mac's problem with third party software. GIve blame where blame is due and don't take this as some chance to start a Mac/PC war. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.

How to unlock the trailer file...

    by buffy0522

My DVD player happens to be in a relatively low-quality laptop. With some manipulation, I was able to download the trailer file on the laptop, transfer it to my better desktop system, and play it. Here's how...

First, you need to get a copy of the file. (Sorry to all you non-DVD owners, or Mac-users, this means you won't be able to play along until someone places the file out in the open). For those of you with DVD players, use the InterActual player to view the trailer. This will create a copy of the .mov file in your Temporary Internet Files directory. The easiest way to find it is to use Explorer, Find Files, and look for all files under the Temporary Internet Files directory (that's under the Windows directory for some users, and the Local Settings folder under your profile in Documents and Settings for others...but really, if you don't know that, you should wait for someone else to do this for you). A note of caution: the trailer file is NOT saved as a .mov. Instead, it's probably a file such as zE56k0sh56ugvb7s. Just look for a recently accessed file roughly 13,454,475 bytes in length. Copy it to a better location (and with a better name).

Now, if you attempt to play this file right now, you'll get an error. Why? Well, there are some tricks being done. The actual .mov file being loaded is mystery_480.mov from the
http://dvd.starwars.com/epii_preview/mystery/img/ directory. However, that simply redirects (after DVD verification) to a stub which redirects to the above 13MB file. You can get the mystery_480.mov file by creating a html file with the following line:

    Here

Open that file up in the InterActual browser, right click, and Save to File. However, that will only save the 8K stub. What's actually needed is to edit the original 13MB file. Open it up in a hex editor (what's that? If you need to ask, you'll probably want to wait for someone else). You'll notice the first 76 bytes are literally "x"ed out. You can replace those bytes with the first 76 bytes from the mystery_480.mov file, or with something like this:

    00 00 22 C5 6D 6F 6F 76 00 00 22 BD 63 6D 6F 76
    00 00 00 0C 64 63 6F 6D 7A 6C 69 62 00 00 22 A9
    63 6D 76 64 00 00

Save the file, and open with Quicktime. The video and sound tracks are disabled, so you'll need to go into the Edit Menu, choose Enable Tracks, and turn both on. You can now play the file to your hearts content, or save and transfer to your non-DVD machine. Enjoy.

My thoughts on the 2 teasers.....

    by cubbie fan

Well, first off, I want to talk about the "Breathing" teaser. I went to write about it last week, but something got screwed up. However, that teaser was extremely well done!!! I loved it!! The breathing, the awesome images, they were put together seamlessly. Now, regarding the 2nd teaser. I put A LOT of effort to see this teaser. I don't have Quicktime Pro, so I had to find mirrors to download the hi-res first teaser. I have a Mac, so I knew I would be screwed to see this teaser. However, my Mom has a Sony with windows laptop from work, so I figured I could see it there. I kept going back and back today to see if the new teaser is up yet, and it finally was (Even though it wasn't working for a while! Ahhh). Anyways, after this new teaser was finished downloading, and I watched it, I AM PUMPED AS HELL FOR EPISODE II!! This was another short teaser, but it was even better than the first one. The special effects are top notch, and the acting seems better than TPM (I did like TPM though!!). I like how they put a little humor in the teaser, and it was in a very heavy action, SFX shot. Now, my thoughts on this whole Lucas/Apple/Quicktime issue. Everyone has a story with all the problems to see this trailer. I admit, it pisses me off that we have to pay $30 to see the hi-res "Breathing" teaser, however, we all found mirrors, right? I don't know what Lucas' intentions are, but I just hope he can deliever a kick-ass movie next summer!! Because, ladies and gentlemen, if he does, this will all be worth it!!

Deac Speaks..... The Trailer everyone wants to see...

    by deacon

i've seen it... and i will say this... Lucas has done it.. i Loved the original trilogy (not as much as you people.. sweet jebus) and to me.. it wasn't aimed at kids.. there were no sight gags in the original trilogy and physical comedy( ok there was some but not that much) but Phantom Menace? thats the whole friggin movie.. physical comedy and sight gags... but this trailer indicates to me that jar Jar isn't there very much, and we get to see a grown up movie about love, honor, and duty... Anakin's choices... that what entices me about this movie.. his turn... it makes me drool i tells ya, this movie looks just awsome in every way, after TPM i kinda thought "great, that ewok lovin bastard screwed us all" and ifit weren't for 4 key scenes in TPM i would have sworn it off for good (jarjar or not the "Duel of the Fates" scene is friggin brilliant! and the pod race? schweet) but this next movie looks like it's going to be the beginning of something nice.. Lucas has realized his core audiance is the teenager early to middle 20's raquet, not kids... and is making the neccesary adjustments... i'm very excited to see this movie, oh and harry potter? are you people all 12? it's a children's movie based on shitty stories for children... shit would you get this worked up for Goosbumps the movie? Lord of the Rings i can understand but harry potter? good god get a life people

    Trailers with Potter

    by tbrosz

There will be a trailer with the Harry Potter movie, and starwars.com gives me the impression that it will NOT be the same one as the DVD-ROM locked trailer we're trying to get. Can anyone confirm this? Lucasfilm will be releasing the Potter trailer in QT5 at some point after November 16.

I believe, at this point, I can say that Lucas is the Shiznit

    by lobanhaki

I think Lucas has another richly imaginative film up his sleeve. I think I am going to be real happy this year. For those who don't have a DVD-ROM player, you have my condolences. I think I know what Lucas is doing. He gives us this enigmatic teaser to draw us in, and the DVD trailer to get those who were fan enough to buy the movie pumped up by showing thems stuff that will appeal to fans. I think the Harry Potter-attached trailer will be more engineered for kids and for adults not entirely familiar with the series.

It looks great, but Captain Fantastic's post above is spot o

    by captain katanga

This teaser is so much better than the first one! But if you had problems with the script/dialogue in the phantom menace, theres nothing here that suggests its going to get any better. The problem with the phantom menace is that everyone acted as though they were in church... very solemn, very dull... and then the humour was shoehorned in with jar jar stepping in poo poo, etc etc. The same thing seems to be going on here, albeit with less Jar jar. For the most part everyone is again VERY SOLEMN, delivering very straightforward, and frankly, dull lines.... and then the humour comes in a scene where anakin and obi wan drive though some power couplings in their speeder thing...I wont try and describe it here...but if you thought Jarjar getting his tongue caught in the front of anakin's pod was funny, then youll probably be rolling in the aisles when you see this. Now remember Episode 4, Han Solo on the intercom: "uh everythings ok here now, we're all fine...here...now.....how are you?"....NOW THAT WAS GOOD DIALOGUE!!!! In this teaser, the film LOOKS fantastic, moody, with some great looking action. But I still wish George would get help with the scripts! Of course its far too early to say, so heres hoping george proves me wrong

    FINALLY I SAW IT!

    by michaelsean

I have the DVD. I have a DVD ROM drive and a brank spanking new computer. AND I have an Interactual Player. STILL, I could not get the damn thing to work until some kind soul above posted a working link (bless you).

Impressions...overall it looks like a marked improvement from the first film. It looks more fun. It looks more adult. It DOESN'T look darker, however. It actually reminds me a LOT of A New Hope. Especially the end when Anakin tells a shackled Obi Wan that he came to rescue him and Obi Wan remarks, "Good Job" hands chained over his head. Or Anakin driving straight through the power couplings. THAT'S the humor I remember from A New Hope, not that stupid Jar Jar crap or farting aliens. It seems Lucas working with an actual writer on the script may have produced some positive results.

And speaking of Jar Jar...didn't see hide nor hair of him, though I understand he does have one scene in the movie. With any luck, it's just one.

Overall impressions...pretty positive. I TRIED hard to like The Phantom Menace. In fact, I probably tried TOO hard but in the end, just couldn't. I want to GENUINLY like this one. Here's hoping.

    by drak_tanner

Drak is breaking third-person to say I'M FUCKING DISAPPOINTED IN YOU, HARRY, although I shouldn't be surprised. I love how all you sad Mac-devotees automatically assume Lucas is at fault here, rather than the notoriously compatability-phobic Apple company. Turns out that Apple is so proud of its Mac that they don't want anyone else 'contaminating' it and won't grant access to their code to those who need it to bring their product to the super-loyal Mac-addicts.
To everyone here who blasted GL and Lucasfilm, blame your sainted Steve Jobs & co. for failing to keep Mac users in touch with the outside world, software-wise. Don't get me wrong, I love Macs -- I love the fluidity and user-friendliness of their OS, the ingenuity of their design and the creativity of their marketing. But I won't use them because I can't use the programs I like on them. In that last department Microsoft, IBM, HP, etc. deliver well, and therein is the difference. If you would stop your Mac-worship for a while you'd see that.
Your sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped you conjure up the Episode II trailer, or given you clairvoyance enough to find a word processor that can compete with Word... Anyway, I'm off to go explore my newly-RENTED Phantom Menace DVD, to check out the trailer and see if this thing is truly worthy of my collection. Drak says: that is all.

    by cookiepuss

The trailer is on Kazaa right now under mystery.mov - normally I would not post info like this, but I think Lucasfilm is making a HUGE mistake here by making it a DVD exclusive. This trailer totally restored my faith in the SW franchise and makes the "Breathing" version that played with Monsters, Inc totally pathetic. They should replace that one with this pronto and get the fans excited again. Great FX and also shows the relationship between Obi Wan and Anakin really works - Ewan's final line which ends this trailer is as good as anything Han Solo ever said in the original trilogy. Just perfect. Lucasfilm: stop being pennywise and pound-foolish by keeping this out the hands of the real fans - this is just the shot in the arm the franchise needs right now. And, fellow talkbackers - go download Kazaa or Morpheus and treat yourself to something special.

    This trailer sucks!!!

    by batutta

I took my TPM DVD down to The Apple Store and watched it. It looks like The Phantom Menace: Part Deux. The first trailer was moody and intriguing, but this new one looks like more of the same shit from the first movie -- the same overlit sets, stiff Jedi council dialogue scenes, and lame CGI characters. At least Jake Lloyd wasn't in it, but Hayden's scenes didn't really inspire much confidence. Nothing in this trailer did, save the few shots of Jango Fett. This movie is going to suck. Of course I'll still be the first in line.

Well, I'm going to cut through the silly flaming here to say thank-you to Apple for finding a solution to the issue. -- I still don't agree with limiting the exclusive content to people with specific equipment, however. As I said in previous post, there are thousands of the Episode I DVD owners who cannot view the trailer because they do not have a DVD-ROM drive. They paid for the DVD, and they too are entitled to the content. -- And to all of you who jumped on the anti-Apple bandwagon on the basis of one single article posted to The Digital Bits, shame on you! The developers of the Interactual Player have comment that it's a technical feat that it even works on a PC

I dunno...looked great visually, but then again, so did the first one. As far as I could tell from the trailer (and that really doesn't tell us a lot), this Anakin recites his lines no better than Ep 1 Anakin. He just sounds bored, as does Portman, again. Apple has these things, their called THIRD PARTY APPLICATIONS... MICROSOFT WORD IS OUT FOR THE MAC... OFFICE IS OUT FOR THE MAC... Your merely spreading the ignorance that most people have towards mac's.

Just about everything of importance is out for the mac, the only things you'll be hard pressed for are random video games... and fairly unpopular applications.

So you know, it in fact is Lucas' fault if he chose a third-party app that only works for pc's to publish his trailer when he could have used another that worked under both environments.

mystery tailer on mac - no dvd required

    by sakrootz

i have found a way to see the "locked" trailer on my mac *without a dvd-rom drive* (my G4 lacks a dvd drive) . I have a PC which can read the DVD but isn't a very good playback device.

    ** create a fake dvd disk **
i used disk copy software to create a small disk image. 2mb is enough. mount this image and copy the COMMON folder from the dvd onto the disk image. maybe you can get these files from your windows friends -- the folder is less than 1mb in size. name your disk image "PHANTOM_MENACE2" (without the quotes).

** mount the fake dvd **
make sure your fake dvd is mounted.

** access the special website **
    http://www.starwars.com/exclusive/mystery/

    ** play the trailer **
if there is a problem with your "fake" dvd you will see the following text: You must have the Star Wars DVD in your drive to view this movie.

like i said: i was able to get the whole thing to work with only the COMMON folder. i don't know what you might experience but it should work. hurry up and check it out -- apple may make it harder to crack soon!

    Trailer shows promise....I HOPE

    by sodomy redux

Just some random thoughts here: Well kids, SR thinks this trailer shows a lot more promise than that horrible "Breathing" trailer. It's not that "Breathing" wasn't a good trailer, it's that is just didn't work for Star Wars. We have 1.5 movies to go before Anakin becomes Darth, and I didn't really think that was appropriate to bust out the sinister breathing for what is probably a good old-fashioned swashbuckler film. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Having said that, the new trailer feels a lot more Star-Wars. You get Watto cracking wise. You get some Star Wars-esque dialogue between the characters, you get some really interesting premises for action scenes (who WOULDN'T want to see Jango Fett open up a can of whoop-ass on Kenobi after his son's anemic performance in Jedi?) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Unfortunately, the trailer shows one of the new trilogy's biggest flaws (besides Jar-Jar) and that is those deadly dull political/council scenes. News flash, George. Your original trilogy didn't deal with the socio-political machinations of the Empire. It didn't deal with the Rebels attempting to resolve their problems through diplomatic channels or discuss the legality of the Death Star blasting ass all over the galaxy. Instead it focused on a couple of brave characters who we all liked and enjoyed and it focused on them. It didn't wander into Machevellian dealings because nobody cares about that. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * So we are supposed to ONCE AGAIN deal with the Jedi protecting the Queen? Oh boy. At least Natalie has a little color in her cheeks and fire in her cooch this time, but she's still speaking in that awful monotone. Luke had the good sense to get rid of his nasal whine after the first movie; let's home his mother can do the same with her leaden, plodding speech. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Believe it or not, I'm not a Star Wars naysayer. I didn't like Episode 1, though, because I thought it either minimized the strengths of Star Wars or mocked them. My biggest complaints can be summed up into three areas: A) the acting in the Original Trilogy (OT) had never been great but was usually adequate. In Episode 1, it was almost universally mediocre, if not outright poor. B) The humour in OT walked a fine line between being campy and being real (who hasn't been in a shitty situation and made some funny comment about it?) In Episode 1, the humour was instead childish and purile. C) In the OT, the setting was basic: Empire bad, Rebels good. In Episode 1, a shadowy, almost X-Files pervasive conspiracy theory was introduced. Most of these changes simply don't work and make for a weaker product. Judging from this short trailer, it looks like - perhaps - the first two complaints have been partially addresssed. Let's hope the third - silly, overwrought conspiracy/political crapola that has no place in the Star Wars canon nor the swashbuckling films that George so obviously admires - doesn't overwhelm the movie a la Jar-Jar and drag the movie into the Chinese Hell of Upside Down Water. Oh, and George...if you get it wrong again, I'll introduce my fleshy, turtle-necked warrior to your colon. REPEATEDLY.

Bad choice, George and PC Snobs suck

    by tedtwist

I'll may get booted off the boards for this but here goes...

Lucas... you suck. You haven't been worth a crap since The Empire Strikes Back and I'm attributing that to pure, dumb luck. You know, believe it or not there's a reason those old "Saturday Morning Serials" aren't made anymore.... They weren't very good. When I hear that you're wanting these movies to be a throwback to those bygone days it makes me alternately sad for what you have become and pissed off for what you SHOULD have become. Jeez man sit down with Steven or Francis or Marty and pray that they'll have the balls to tell you what you have become... and that is exactly what two of them HAVE become and what the other one risks becoming if he keeps digitally removing shotguns from his movies.

And PC snobs... Are you still bullheaded about switching from VHS to DVD cause you REALLY believe VHS is better? Have you ever had a movie that you think stands head and shoulders above all the rest of the crap out there that's being produced only to have 8 or 9% of your fellow movie fans appreciate it? Well we have the best OS... Jobs took a decent OS and has made something great out of it. And when they get the bugs worked out of OSX it will leave Windows in the dust. Don't argue about it... I won't be listening. I need an exterminator standing over my shoulder when we fire up the bug-ridden new version of Windows at the office. Sure we whine and piss and moan when something that was more than likely created on a Mac is only made available to PC users. We have a right to piss and moan. Hey there's a place for PC users out there. I mean hell... someone buys a shitload of Ford Tauruses every year so there's obviously a market for low priced machines that get the job done, but aren't exactly something you'd like your friends or a hot chick to see you cruisin' around town in. Until the "C:" prompt becomes a thing of collective memory I'll be a Mac man til the end. Goodnight and Blow me.

Believe me when I tell you that, Operating System wise, they have both achieved convergence in terms of stability and features offered. I will agree with anyone here that DOS/early Win9X stuff was a piece of crap, but recently Win2000 and WinXP have really turned a corner for Micro$oft - stability wise anyway. The only thing I hate about M$ is their security holes (obfuscation is a poor security scheme) and their goddamn software bloat - they clumsily glue every kind of application in the world to their OS and try to pass it off as a feature. Having said that, Macs have some advantages but in my opinion the sheer volume of software released for PCs more than makes of for it. It's no surprise that software written for the Mac runs better on it's native platform - so please spare me the Adobe Argument (as I have termed it). And yes, George is not being very good to the fans by releasing the teaser in this manner. Doesn't really matter anyone, since everyone has warez'd the hell out of it. And all's forgiven if, when George releases the original trilogy on DVD (along with Raiders of the Lost Ark, hopefully) he gives us BOTH special edition and original versions of the film to pick from. If not, well....he'll find out how I earned my nick.

I have to say this is one god awful trailer....

    by castor777

I'm sorry to be on the minority, but how people like this trailer is beyond me. This thing totally lacks the feel of Star Wars, it feels completely comical and almost idiotic. I just saw Hayden Christensen in Life as a House not to long ago and was blown away by his performance - but the dialogue shown from him here just sounds like he's talking in a monotone. I guess we should be glad we get to hear dialgoue now and everything along with more footage but my god, at least make something out of it. I really wish I never saw this trailer and I'm going to try hard to erase it from my memory.

....and wood. The fun is back in Star Wars. I am really looking forward to this movie. Portman looks ravishing and the whole look of the film is much more for people of ALL ages and not the "here's some stuff for the kids, and here's some stuff for the adults that brought them" formula the last two movies have suffered from. This looks just plain awsome.

    by jimjim binks

Ummm, any of you mac people check starwars.com lately? There's a big article on the main page saying that people with DVD's on MAC's OR PC's can download the thing. I've been hearing all day about how Lucas is Evil for Punishing people with Macs. Go check out thedigtalbits.com sometime and read up, it's not Lucas that's the problem, it's Apple. If LucasFilm was really filled with the dicks you people think they're filled with, they wouldn't have spent time today trying to get the trailer working for you people on Macs. I'm seriously sick of hearing all this. It's everywhere.

Lucas homage to Dick Donner in the trailer?

    by togmeister

Is it just me or did that whole 'Anakin, how many times have i told you, stay away from the power couplings' scene seem lifted from the 'Yeah Rog, you know, there wasn't enough room there' bit from the start of Lethal Weapon 2? Anyways, the trailer was short but it sure was sweet. Get a load of Ewan's wry delivery -"Good job". Pure Guinness. Look at Obi-Wan's expression in ANH when Han says "I've made a lot of special modifications myself". It's exactly the same! Kudos to Ewan for capturing the flavor of those Guinness mannerisms while still putting his own stamp on the role. Another thing that interests me is that this time, Chinbeard appears to be playing his cards closer to his chest. We've yet to see anything of Count Dooku, the battle in the arena, Nat Portman in the ripped shirt and Sam the Man going lighsaber crazy. I'm encouraged by the fact that Luca$ doesn't yet feel the need to wheel out the big guns to get people excited (face it, most of the podrace and lightsaber duel was contained in the TPM trailers).

I find your lack of faith disturbing, Drak Tanner

    by darth saotome

I happen to have both trailers safe on the hard disk of my Powerbook G4, and I did not even need to purchase the EP1 DVD to acquire them. As for you, Darth Siskel, a Powermac G4 dual 800 would be nearly /four times/ faster running Photoshop then your cheap ass crap box, and you can get a G4 733 with a gig of ram for about $1600, yep about twice as expensive but also nearly twice as fast running Photoshop. Any graphic designer will tell you, that extra speed (and the additional reliability and ease of use) will way more then pay for itself within the first month of ownership. It really is no contest, when it comes down to getting the job done with Photoshop, there is no substitute for a Mac. As far as the trailers go, the first "breathing" trailer is kinda haunting, which is good, but all of the sets are really bright and have saturated colors, even the overcast storm scene. I will reserve judgement, but a dark film (which this needs to be) needs sets that don't look like they were just erected and painted yesterday. It gives it sort of a jarring inconsistant feel where all the characters look old but the sets look brand new. The second trailer, is, well, underwelming to say the least. Watching it, I can't help but think of bad Star TREK with lightsabers. That being said, the lack of Jar Jar is encourging, and I will be there for the first showing, no matter what.

This is stunning visually, and it looks like the story really gets interesting. Although the first film has a few problems, I really did enjoy it and still think that it's much better than 95% of the crap that movie studios are trying to push on us these days. This trailer makes the second film look unbelievable. I was sort of looking forward to this movie before this trailer, now, I am filled with anticipation!

    Retractions can be fun

    by drak_tanner

Okay, Drak knows when he's been a jackass, and would like to apologize for calling all rabid Mac-fans "fuckwits". What I meant to say was "penis breaths". ;)
Drak is well aware there is Word for Macs, but, having used it (and realizing it still came from Microsoft, one way or another), he would like everyone to know that he still thinks it sucks compared to the Windows version. But THAT'S HIS OWN PERSONAL OPINION, and though some may think IT is stupid, he stands by it. He also stands by the spirit of his original --- dammit, this 3rd-person bullshit is annoying, ain't it? And juvenile? Enough of this!
What I mean to say is that I still would like to rail against everyone out there who is so quick to blame Lucasfilm for their problems, but I won't, because it's unnecessary, nontopical, and inappropriate for this TB. I'd also like to congratulate Lucas on a stellar trailer, that -- unlike the 'Breathing' teaser -- actually made me salivate a bit for this movie. And, being the big man I am, I'd like to congratulate Apple and Lucasfilm for finding a solution to the DVD-ROM problem so quickly. I guess it turns out Lucas does listen to his fans occasionally, eh?
    Drak says: Kudos all around.

Have you accepted Apple as your personal savior?

    by jehovah

If the only thing Mac is good at (admitedly) is Photoshop, then why don't they just call it The Apple/Adobe Photoshop Station and get it over with? But wait! Mac DOES have photoshop, BUT ALSO the stuff Microsoft makes, and a couple of games that were out on PC 4 years ago! It's so much MORE! What Jehovah finds amusing is the need for Mac magazines and websites to print little PC-user jokes and cartoons, constantly making fun of PCs. jehovah has not seen the reverse on PC sites. In fact, PC sites pretty much ignore Mac owners. Jehovah thinks the reason they constantly remind their own flock how funny and silly the PC users are is to keep them within the group. It's a time-honred cult-reinforcement tactic. Jehovah has seen Mac magazines perform their brainwashing techniques. The hope is that they can build up the fear and hatred of PCs high enough to blind the cult members to the shortcomings of their selected faith. This is why Marshall Applewhite (Hmmm. APPLEwhite) was a Mac man. Mac people, in Jehovah's opinion, are all One Penguin Short Of A Baseball Team. They're all odds-bodkins freaky types who use their allegiance to their cult as a personality indicator, and who most likely attend their local renfest every year dressed up (yet they gripe about all the DeadBob deciples crowding *their* event). They are the people who buy fuzzy slippers, and name their computers cute (and original) things like "Mac", "Macky", and "Jimmy Mac". They drink exotic coffee or tea- preferably herbal tea. They buy either an Audi or a PT Cruiser (the iMac of the vehicular world). They shave their heads. Jehovah has seen them. They sit in their futon or deco chair, wearing their fuzzy slippers, sipping their herbal tea, and reading their MacAddict magazine. They giggle when the funny comic portraying a silly PC user who's in awe of a Mac's superior performance catches their eye. Oh how they giggle! Then they decide it's time to digitally manipulate another photo they took at the renfest. Aren't they cute? Jehovah bears no malice to the Mac cultists. He feels only pity for them, locked in their funny little world of delusion and self-aggrandizement. They need these little perks and reminders that they did indeed choose the right faith, because when those moments of doubt appear (usually when they covet a particular software program. Perhaps one that teaches about making your own fuzzy slippers?) they need to be given that cult-induced jolt. That feeling in belonging. They need to know that they are with Family. Then they smile again! Happy in their choice. Oh, so happy. . . yes. happy. very. happy.

    Bitching about bitching...

    by lightningcount

...is hypocritical. And yeah I guess I"m being hypocritical now, but I'd rathe rsay this is pointing out the patheticness of this talkback. Intolerance will be the downfall of our society, with hypocracy a close second. Both can be seen in this talkback. You make fun of mac people and macs but then in the same breath complain about the people who didn't like the trailer not having any "joy in life" or constantly being hateful of aggressive. Pot to kettle: you're black. Or better yet, you actually try to throw on the garb of self righteous by claiming you bear macs and mac users no malice when you just harsly condemned and made fun of them. It's like the bully who says "I don't really mean it" and punches you again. It's called fucking pathetic dellusionment, and please, keep on living with it, because you'll do the rest of the world a favor by not joining it.
No Apple word processor? Yeah right. It's called Appleworks, which does just about everything Word and Office does at half the price and memory. All Mac users artsy fartsy freaks who sip weird coffee and all that nonsense? Well I don't, and I use a Mac and won't be going PC in the foreseeable future. (and for the record, I'm content with what the mac offers, since I mainly use it for graphics only. Wave all the silly video games and useless random software you want in front of my face, I don't have the time to use the, and I don't give a shit about them to begin with, so your argument is moot! Someone has to want to use something in order for you to argue "they're missing out on it!") So am I an "exception" to your rules? Or am I still a freak? Ah yes, still a freak I suppose. After all you'll just bend your rules and descriptions until they fit. And then act "holier than thou" and claim you don't bear malice to anyone. Nope....you PC people aren't egotistical or hateful one bit.
This is just like the bitter sad arguments that go on over LOTR vs Star Wars here. NEVER has it entered some idiot's minds that someone might like both. Or that someone might like one more than the other, but not hate the other. Or that they're content with one and shouldn't have to change. No, it never enters the bitter attacker's minds, because they too are stuck in their own dellusions to think about anything other than blasting away verbally. So blast away. I won't be hearing it, cause I'm out of here. I can feel my brain cells diminish each time I try to converse in here civily. Yeah that might be egotistical, but not more egotistical than ripping someone you don't know because they own a different computer or like a differe movie a new a-hole or degrading them verbally, and then claiming you bear "no malice" towards them. Have fun in your talkback empire, and keep it up. Like I said, it'll keep your stupidity out of the rest of the world.

    by dave bowman

I've read many reviews of Mac OS X and also Windows XP. I haven't seen one that pretended XP was greatly superior. They have all been pretty much ties, or came down slightly in favor of OS X. I admit that XP is the first MS operating system I've seen that doesn't make my skin crawl.

As for Office "emulating a PC on the Mac"...that's backwards. Word and Excel were originally Mac-only software. Office for Windows is actually emulating a Mac on your PC.

All PC fans should nightly bow in the direction of Cupertino. Without Apple showing Bill the way, you guys would still all be staring at green or amber text on your hot new DOS Version 12.2.4 machines.

    by castor777

I hated this trailer too - in fact my expectations for this film are incredibly low at this point. But you know what? It is a Star Wars film - so I don't care if the reviews a week before the film is released have critics saying it's the most painful movie going experiance ever - I'm still going to sit through it. If Lucas passes my expectations, yippie fucking ki-yay. If the film is a piece of utter shit like I consider this trailer, I guess I'll just wasted 2 hours of my life. But it is Star Wars, so I can deny it all I want but I know I'll be there. And say what you want to, but I got a feeling you will be there too. Now if you all don't mind, I'm going to go ahead and sleep for the next 5 days or so and wake up to hopefully a much better trailer in front of Harry Potter next Friday that will wash this filthy piece of shit known as 'Mystery' out of my mind. Please Lucas, restore my faith in you and your marketing abilities.

    by pity the fool

I wish it looked like crap just so that I could say "I have a bad feeling about this," and then we'd all reminisce about the original trilogy. As we reminisced, we'd realize that hey, those flicks didn't have great dialogue, but they were great fun. I, for one, enjoyed Phantom Menace, and I'm not ashamed of it. Too many people got on the bandwagon of bashing it too early, but then those same fols were there at their local neighborhood Wal-Mart to buy the DVD when it was released. So it looks like this new flick could be fun too, but also have that edge that made Empire the best flick of the series.

    by speed3

It's interesting to see how so many people here subscribe to the philosophy that the more expletives and vulgarity they can cram into their posts, the more correct/tough/intelligent they will be.

I like good four-letter words as much as the next person, but it's clear that a large number of people here simply are unable to intelligently discuss a topic. Many of the posts contain valid and interesting views, but the presentation and language used is so juvenile that I can hardly read some of them. Do you really think you're making your point with comments like, "Harry, blow me" or "Mac users are fucking lame"? To those who have remained above the fray, I applaud you. To the rest of you, grow up as soon as possible.

    The Ear Buns are Back...

    by darthlebowski

...but now mommy is wearing the super-ear-buns! Those things are huge. And where does she find the time for those hairdos in the middle of assassination attempts and daring rescues. I love her new tight white outfit now too. At least we get to see more of her God given assets now. Thanks Lucas, now you finally know who your audience is: teen to adult male, not infant to toddler haha fart funny duh gah gah. It also looks like the acting and lines are better performed unlike episode 1 where it looks like everything was done on the first take. You can do more than one take really. There were times they stumbled on their lines so bad I'm beside myself as to how you even said "cut it and print it!" Even good actors need a little time to perfect their lines. I mean some of the dialog is so badly performed from actors I know are really good it's amazing. Well actors as in the main cast, not including that lil prick brat kid who played Anakin. He was just a bad actor to begin with. The trailer does rule though, I've seen it many many times over now to even count. Does anyone have a larger trailer than 480? I want 640 high res, 480 has always been medium res in my book. Anyways thanks again Lucas for temporarily rekindling a fire I had thought for sure had burned out completely. I hope you don't quash it for good this time. We will see May 2002.

    Give me a break

    by abberline

With all that is going on in this world since September 11, I really wish that everyone who is complaining about how Attack of the Clones is going to be garbage... about how it is going to be nothing but a first grade play with CGI... about how it is going to be just another piece of crap movie for Uncle George to make a billion dollars... etc etc... would just shut up. First of all, it is a MOVIE!!! And, it is GEORGE LUCAS' MOVIE!!! He can do whatever he wants with it because it is HIS... Besides, I really do think that AOTC is going to be dark like ESB and will be a much better movie than TPM. I enjoyed TPM, by the way. Sure, it was childish at times, but it is a MOVIE!!! It didn't end my life because it wasn't dark... it didn't end my life because I thought Jar Jar was a bit over the top. I love that movie... and I love all the Star Wars movies... George created this wonderful universe for us to enjoy. And, that is just what we should do. Watch it for entertainment. It is for FUN!!! It won't ruin your life if it ends up being a bad movie. And besides, no matter what you say about the two new teasers, everyone here will go and see it multiple times. Because it is STAR WARS!!! For two hours, we will all be transported to that galaxy far, far away... So, please... enjoy it for what it is... a MOVIE!!! I swear, some of you people have no lives...

just get if off Kazza, and we need it in mpeg or DivX

    by tall_boy

I like the images (VERY CLEAR) in Quicktime, but it never runs smoothly on my comp (WAYYY too much lag). I have 2 alternate takes of the "Breathing" trailer i got yesterday, one in Divx and one a 20 meg avi file, both look absoutely beautiful. Give it a week and we'll probably see "Mystery" in that format too. This trailer actually rocked pretty hard, they should put THIS one into theatres, instead of the romance trailer that's going with potter. I guess for being on the net, we get a cooler one. "We've decided to rescue you." "Good job!" heeheeh, I LOVE it. oh, and to the twat who said Christensen can't act, whoa, you must have amazing powers of deduction from a 90 second trailer. jackass.

I swear to god this kid takes the cake as the most full of shit talkbacker out there. You know people are allowed to not like a trailer - they do have opinions after all. And personally I thought this trailer was fucking horrible. It had a really cool introduction followed by a nifty lil explosion and then we get to the dialogue of Anakin and Padme and for me, the shit hit the fan. I thought maybe Lucas would have brought in a better acting coach or something but I guess he's just doing the shitty job again. What does it bother you that I say that Basher? Are you hitting your computer monitor full of outrage because someone actually doesn't like this trailer? Well hey it's my opinion so deal with it. Lets not forget you're the moron who said Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings aren't going to do shit for buisiness because they don't have large enough fan bases. God I'm still amazed you can make me laugh at your stupidity. Oh well though.

    2nd Trailor

    by temuera_morrison

Having (finally) found the location of the second trailor (http://planetmirror.com/pub/movie_trailers/ep2_mystery_m240.mov), I was at first a bit disappointed. Some of the CGI at the start looked....well, it looked slightly crap, and the first thought that went through my mind was that it was another fake. When the dialogue kicked in and the action started - superb. I feel that Anakin and Obi-Wan have good chemistry and that Anakin just cannot live up to his dissatisfied Masters expectations, and this, in Episode II, appears to be causing Anakin some sadness and, eventually, frustration. This aspect of their Master-Padawan relationship comes over really well. The action sequences are excellent in the second-half of the trailor. Jango Fett looks to be an excellent acquisition to the Star Wars Hall of Villainy. Somebody else commented earlier that Lucasfilm are fantastic(but of course!) at embellishing the trailors and then coming up short with substance, perhaps. Well, maybe - this remains to be seen and its difficult to judge from this, six months out. My biggest hope is that it is a worldwide release for May 17th, so that in New Zealand I'll be able to enjoy the film like everybody else! I was living in London in 1999 and had to wait 3 months before I saw it! Personally, I'm looking forward to Episode II MORE, following the trailor, and can honestly say that I was pleased to see that the humour (humanity?) is more apparent and less wooden than Episode I(Which, unless George Lucas had stuck a stick figure into the mix that mimed, I would've enjoyed anyway!). Kia Kaha!!!!

    by darthflagg

You can't judge this trailer on the low res version. Download the large version and tell me it doesn't rock. The CGI was stunning, the action fantastic and the dialogue . . . well it was OK, which was a step-up from TPM. Come on, Obi-Wan's one liners were funny! It's sad to see people so consumed by hate they can't even enjoy a cool teaser trailer. Only at the end will they understand.

    Hayden and humor

    by the_pissboy1

First off, if you've seen Life as a House, Hayden Christensen can act. He does a damn fine job with that role and holds his own opposite Kevin Kline.*****As for the Mystery trailer, there's a lot of smart ass dialogue that's nice to hear. TPM had a few funny lines but nothing like the stuff Han would spout. BTW, I detest Star Wars and this does look interesting to me.

Jeffrey Wells on Lucas and Star Wars

    by greensnake_bake

By Jeffrey Wells -- For me, it's a bad, bad thing that the DVD of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace sold 2.2 million units and raked in $45 million during its first week of release. Why? Because The Phantom Menace is a stain on the Star Wars legend a plastic, sickening, money-grubbing toy franchise disguised as a film. Menace gets almost everything wrong and is way, way off in too many respects to mention, but the main problem was creator George Lucas' conviction that it (and the Star Wars series in general) should primarily be for little kids.

It shouldn't be, and the first two films the original Star Wars (or A New Hope, released in 1977) and the masterful The Empire Strikes Back (1980) weren't. It's as simple as that. By any barometer, these first two were made for teenagers and the spiritually young at heart. Phantom Menace was aimed only a growth spurt or two above the Barney or Rugrats crowd.

I admit I found The Phantom Menace mildly diverting tolerable is a better word when I first saw it in May 1999, but it hasn't aged well. When I popped the DVD into my player last week, I was unable to watch it for more than a half-hour. This was because it seemed to me even more empty, puerile, pointless (except as a way for Lucas to make more money), uninspired, and kiddie-pandering than it did two and a half years ago.

Except for those too caught up in being fans at all cost, the reality was that The Phantom Menace more or less sucked. The dream had been sullied.

    by vader582

From what I've heard Apple won't allow 3rd party DVD software development. Most of the pros who create DVDs and their software, use Macs. Its not that they don't want to add Mac compatible software, its that Apple won't allow them to do so. If you'll notice, your DVD colllection, NO DVDs are Mac compatible. It is a real shame, Apple is so worried about "quality-control" (anal-retentive).

    Episode I &II - Harry Potter

    by general beddo

I was fortunate enough to see Harry Potter yesterday and I've got to say it was GREAT... From the story telling to the acting to the dialog to the look and effects, you get the picture. Im a 34 year old Star Wars fan - gotta tell ya EXTREMELY dissapointed by Episode I and not exactly blown away by the DVD trailer either, not hard to put images together to make EPII look cool...but sure enough, did you catch that pathetic dialog between Obi and Anakin - LAME - Lucas should learn a lesson by going to see HP - maybe he is under estimating what children are capable of - God knows he's about to lose a big chunk of Star Wars fans if EP II blows - the fans that made him his fortune. It was really refreshing seeing Adults and Kids grinning from ear to ear after HP instead of confused and dissapointed fans after EPI - asking what the hell just happened - HP was a great fantasy story - just like Star Wars - but delievered to the expectation of thousands of book fans... the HP fans know those books and are as precious about them as many SW fans are about their universe - Lucas needs to remember he took on the new trilogy - and to overthink or underestimate the fans is a complete insult... He needs to watch HP and go back a few years to A New Hope... put some passion back into his film making and not look at it like it's Sesame Street or a pay check! He should also reach out for some help on his scripts... bad dialog will kill any story and any "look" no matter what universe you're in.

just thought I'd add my 2 cents

    by the hierophant

After seeing this trailer, I have to say that I'm really disappointed. Now don't get me wrong. As usual, the visual FX and action sequences are appropriately superb, showing that ole' George certainly hasn't lost his visual flair. But the dialogue--my God, where did he it?!?!?!? He must have consulted the same 4-year-old who wrote the script for TPM. I'm sorry, but that was some cheesy shit. Fortunately, Ewan MacGregor and Natalie Portman know how to act, so I think the acting is in good hands at least as far as those two are concerned (and as far as Christopher Lee is concerned as well). But did you see the hollowness of Hayden's acting??? I haven't seen acting this stilted since my second grade Christmas play. Maybe he really does have some serious acting chops (as I've heard many say about his performance in LIFE AS A HOUSE), but he sure as hell doesn't show it in these clips. Still, I have hope that the re-shoots that we heard about earlier will remedy at least some of these problems. Overall, I'd say that the "Breathing" trailer was much more effective in conveying the suspense and darkness that AOTC will hopefully contain. I've still got my fingers crossed that it'll be great, but at this point at least I'm not expecting it to be.

    'Mystery' Trailer

    by shad0wfax

Erm, other than the TPM bashing, the Mac/PC debacle and the inane screaming about "it'll be good", "oh, no it won't", I have one thing to say.

    Oh yes it will.

Sorry, but if you can't see the potential behind the scenes in that trailer, you're blind!

From it I see one huge action scene with splices of the (maybe boring, but necessary and intriguing politics):

The fight in the bar, leads to the speeder chase.

The drone sent to kill Amidala is grabbed by Obi Wan, he is taken through Coruscant, to Jango Fett, where they duel in a spectacular raining scene.

At some point when either leaving or entering Coruscant, I'd go with leaving, the silver ship of Amidala fights with Slave-1 in an asteroid belt.

Obi Wan suspended in some sort of forcefield, I assume by Count Dooku, which leads to the darkened hallway lightsabre fight, (which looks amazing).

It has all the hallmarks of an amazing episode, just like ESB:

Han escaping the Empire, ending up in Cloud City and then frozen in Carbonite by Boba Fett.

Luke and Vader fighting on the Walkway, and so much more.

If you didn't like TPM, then you prolly won't like AOTC, but that's just because you've fallen away from Star Wars.

The fans don't define the series, the film makers do. He thought it up after all.

Lucas hasn't done wrong, he's just done what he sees, which people either like or don't.

Please oh please, don't say "I'm a huge star wars fan but TPM sucked and AOTC will suck even more", because if you don't see the contradiction in that, you're totally beyond fucking hope.

    He's no Jedi

    by darth smurf

First of all, I was mildly amused by the mystery trailer. Looks interesting and promising. Though I would have to agree with many of the other posts that the acting looked less than fantastic. I just don't understand how George Lucas can coax such shitty performances from so many accomplished actors.

But my main complaint focuses on one holdover from TPM. Samuel L. Jackson. I like Sam Jackson. I think he's a talented actor. But he was god-awful in TPM and it looks like we'll have a repeat in AOTC if the trailer is any clue. He was SOOOO miscast in this. Puh-lease George, I know that the masses are pleading for the demiseo of Jar Jar, but I for one would not be too saddened by the disappearance of one Jedi Master.

    Thank you.

Boy, I know this has been touched upon at this site many times, but it never ceases to amaze me how negative some of you people are. It's almost like you WANT to hate every movie that comes out.

When you realize that movies aren't the most important thing in life (i.e. when you get a girlfriend and/or a job), you will learn that instead of having tantrums in chatrooms, stomping your feet and screaming at the bad-bad people who force you to watch thier bad movies... you can simply IGNORE them.

    Mr. Jackson, Mr. Jackson

    by darth smurf

Ok, let me clarify a bit. :) Sure, the story goes: Sam Jackson sought out a role in the "new" SW flick way back in the day. Lucas took him up on that. These are both good moves for either party. Jackson gets to live out a dream and Lucas gets to capitolize on Jackson's marquee (sp?) pulling power.

What went wrong was the casting of Jackson as a venerable Jedi master, in my opinion. Maybe as a firebrand Senator or something. I just don't think he works well as Mace Windu. But maybe he'll kick ass in the next film. I ameagerly waiting to see.

    Peace OUT!!!

Hey kids, want to see the trailer on a Mac huh. Well its not really hard or anything... I'll just hope most of you figured it out by now. If you didn't: put the DVD in your drive, got to www.quicktime.com click on the more trailers link...
click on the mystery (dvd required) link and your in...
You can open the file in a quicktime window and change the size or what ever with Quicktime Pro. If your using IE5 you can find the .mov file in your preferences folder under the explorer folder and then in the temp files folder there will be a .mov file.
Now to open that in Quicktime you will need some extra help... namely a utility called finderpop. You will need to put quicktime in the finderpop folder so that you can control click the .mov file and open it in quicktime... it sucks I know... but it worked for me cuz I am a complete and utter Mac geek.

Then you might want to try copying the entire contents of the temp files folder to another place on your drive... and using finder pop to open the .mov

Its good to know Harry uses a Mac... congradulations on thinking different big guy.
