Official Quicktime Release - ATTACK OF THE CLONES!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... what more is there to say... Go fetch boy!
Click here to get the gorgeous digitized by APPLE's mad scientist and awesome equipment... the perfect version of the 'BREATHING' Episode 2 trailer!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... while I love free software as much as anyone, I do have to say that I fully support getting the full QUICKTIME PRO. For one the looping option by itself is worth it. The frame by frame. The ability to adjust contrast and brightness, play with the playing speeds, the editing features. I started buying the pro features with Quicktime 4, and frankly for the quality of the product and the fact that nearly all the coolest stuff is shown on the high quality level of Quicktime online these days. Personally it is worth it for me. There is only one additional feature I wish it had. I wish, I could program my Quicktime player to play multiple trailers that I choose in a continual or random loop, as opposed to continually having to stop one... load the next... sort of thing. Otherwise, I love it. And yes I do understand not wanting to pay for software. Or that getting QUICKTIME PRO would mean sacrificing a dvd or 3 features at a theater at night... And ya don't want to buy software that'll be outdated soon. But ya know, it's Apple's way of paying for the employees that put this stuff up for us, that develop the software and that host the bandwidth. So either see the smaller ones, or upgrade.

Quick time PRO needed?...$29.95...blow me Steve Jobs.
-
Kwooah! Kwooah! Kwooah! Bad lighting and brief snippets mean depth and darkness, baby...and another $29.95 for Apple? Methinks I'd rather sneak a camcorder into Monsters, Inc. Zen bastard has spoken
-
Too bad apple. It's on t.v. tonight. As much of a fan as I am, I'll not fill your greedy pockets any further (bastards!).
This goes for you too, Lucas. For all the support your fans have given you, including supporting Episode 1 to the point of over 400 million dollars (despite it being an enourmous disappointment), you've really stuck it to us. -
what the fuck!
-
A week of talk and anticipation and the trailer was nothing. A few cut scenes. The fan made trailer thats 2 minutes long from this past summer is head and shoulders above the "Official" one that went out today.
Very disapointing! -
I'm not sure if it's my computer or if those Lucas guys are moving ultra fast but I already can't get to it.
-
Go here for the proof.

I couldn't pull up the link Harry posted, so I went to apple.com and downloaded it there. (Of course, I'd already seen it at the premiere of the tremendous Monsters, Inc.) QT Pro not necessary; you can view it with the free player. The trailer looks great - can't wait for more!

Huh, I wonder why it worked when I went to it from the Apple homepage, but not when I went to it from Harry's link. Weird.
-
What the hell was that? I am sorely disappointed. I know that it is just a teaser teaser or whatever, but still. I guess I'm still concerned after seeing TPM trailers. The trailer just didn't leave me anything to get excited about. I heard people raving about Jango Fett and it just showed him for 1 second in midair moving upward. I just found myself thinking "so what's the big fucking deal". Maybe it's because I saw it on a medium computer screen. I'm going to see Monsters Inc tonight so I'll get to see it on the big screen. Hopefully that will make the difference.
-
I have to say that I really, really hope that Attack of the Clones is good, because between The Phantom Menace ("Flatulence - The Phantom Menace...may the farts be with you" joked my kid brother...) containing only about 20 minutes of excellent, superlative film; the impossibility of getting the cool SW figures while the umpteenth Jar Jar, Maul and Quigonn clogs the shelves; and the DVD mess, Lucas has nearly lost me...and I think he's lost a lot of people. I've walked past the Episode I DVD and been amazed at how I cannot bring myself to buy it, thinking "Man, I used to love these movies...they were an intrinsic part of my childhood..." I thought maybe it was just my age, and I'd like it better if I were a kid, but Jeez, even my Mom's 3rd graders found Jar Jar Binks intolerably lame...and I want to love this movie, but man...the Episode 1 trailer had me geeked too, and it ultimately was shite...so please, George -- hit a home run. Seriously. Wal-Marts around here aren't even carrying Star Wars toys anymore, and this one is really make or break for the series. I say that as a fan who thinks that, had the guy not done these, I would still appreciate him greatly for SW and Indy, not to mention American Graffiti, its underrated sequel (damn experimental and cool for a guy who made Star Wars -- elements of French new wave, etc.) and the technological advances he's pioneered (NOT TO MENTION ALL THOSE COOL CHILDHOOD MEMORIES WHICH JAR JAR STINKS CANNOT TARNISH)...but please, man...a good story, fewer plot holes...make this movie one where I can walk out not forcing myself to try to like it...something I want to see again...Oh, and release the original trilogy on DVD in the format (w/the extras) that was so wasted on the Flatulent Menace...
-
Anyway whats with apple streaming movies all of a sudden, if it aint broke.. dont fix it..!!! We were all happy with downloading trailers, and were quite content without that streaming bollocks !
Anyway so far the Ice Age trailer is looking more interesting than Star wars.. perhaps its loading quicker.. I dont know.. ?
So far all i have seen is that shitty green screen, the bloody fox logo, and the lucasfilm logo and im already half way through the damn thing!
You could save a lot of file size by trimming the length of the annoying intro crap.
Ill post again when the damn thing has finished downloading (p.s its 3:17 am in Australia, and this aint at all pleasent to wait for... )
-
Lucas will probably be charging people to access his website next!
-
I like it!
-
Great first look at Episode 2, you could tell some of the scenes werent quite finished at ILM, but all and all great for a first "official" look, still cant wait for the real trailer on Harry Potter. Oh yeah and i loved all the little Daniel Logan clones, it gives u a feeling of the the dark things that are about to take place in the galaxy.

Yes, he is in the teaser.
As shown in the pic linked in an earlier post, you can see in the shot behind Mace Windu, Padme is entering a room with people following her. A Gungan is directly behind her. You can see the Gungan's snout or bill or mouth or whatever and you can see the ears hanging down. The clothes look similar to Jar Jar's in The Phantom Menace(what a smelly little shite he must be). You can also see Boss Nass in this shot. As soon as the scene fades in you can see Boss Nass exiting the right-hand side of the picture.
Now it might not be Jar Jar, but chances are it is.
By the way Jar Jar was a cool character in The Phantom Menace and I assume 10 years later he'll be more mature, and a really cool character!
Sl -
1. Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid will be excellent.
2. Hayden Christiansen will be pleasantly capable.
3. Jar Jar will still be there strictly for the kiddies. -

I remember all the hype about the trailer people saying Jar Jar was nowhere to be seen, and how that would make most fans happy. Just interesting that he is in the teaser after all...that's all. Oh, and most fans are dicks anyway. They're just fun movies. Star Wars movies. Stop taking them so seriously! Sl

It's official. I loved (and I mean LOVED) the original trilogy. Got totally suckered by the Episode I trailers (this new one is nothing special IMO), saw the movie 4 times in the first 24 hours because I was so excited. The first two times I didn't want to admit that what I had just seen was, essentially, an awesome lightsabre duel at the end, a pretty cool race scene, and about an hour and a quarter of maddeningly bad cinema. Maddening because of the potential it had to be great. I am familiar with the "it could never have lived up to expectations" argument. I'd like to take this opportunity disagree strongly with Episode I apologists. It could very easily have lived up to expectations. Having watched the dvd a few weeks ago, I now realize how truly awful this movie is. Lucas is going to have a difficult time wooing me back after the shameless, shameless marketing sensibilities which obviously influenced, nay, shaped TPM. I'll enjoy my memories of what it was like to be a Star Wars fan back in the day (ie before this POS came out). But TPM may as well be a separate franchise. It is a soulless movie with some of the most wooden acting I've ever seen. Plot holes you could drive a truck through and story elements which pander to the lowest common denominator (e.g. C3PO was built by Anakin. Oh, of course he was. It's such a small universe. R2D2 played a major role in saving Luke's Mother-to-be. Of course he did. Neither of them has any memory of this in Episodes 4-6. Of course they don't, but hey, it's Star Wars and they MUST be there for continuity so people will associate them with Jar Jar and buy Jar Jar merchandise because he's legit now too.) No need to explain the force either, George. I'd prefer it remained a mystery. It's like showing someone how a magic trick works. You'd rather not know. At this point, I'm not even sure Jar Jar getting a lightsabre in the eye in the first 5 minutes of Episode 2 will win me back now. I'm decidedly un-psyched for Episode 2. My only expectations are to groan at multiple points in the movie. And damn you, George, because I have to go see it regardless because I'm a Star Wars fan even if the franchise is that in name only today. I'm looking forward to LOTR and Spider-Man much more.

The link is bunk, I have the free QT too and this link worked for me...

You folks need to stop jumping to conclusions and bashing everything in sight just because some one made an honest mistake ---
cheers~! -
Why else would you put an abomination like Jar Jar in the movie? To sell things to kids. No way adults will find his antics amusing except in the context of their children laughing at the tomfoolery of Jar Jar the Gungan. Do you honestly mean that Jar Jar contributed to the story line apart from comic relief (and it wasn't even that)? While we're at it, why don't we go back and digitally insert Scrappy Doo into all of the early Scooby Doo cartoons. And ya know what? I can't get enough Wonder Dog on the Superfriends. Let's go back and insert him into all the cartoons he wasn't in. Who doesn't love wacky characters that have annoying speech patterns, are clumsy, give the other characters away when they're trying to be stealthy, or eat, touch, play with, or say things that get everyone into trouble even after they've been told not to. Love that wild, wacky stuff.
-
I'm wondering if ILM is reusing wireframes from "The Rocketeer," because Jango Fett sure looks a lot like Cliff Secord taking off from the Griffith Observatory.

ok ok .. that's it.. the link for the bigger one..

That's the Medium trailer numbskull. Of course it works on your free QT. Try the large one!http://starwars.apple.com/ep2/breathing/breathing_lg.html
The one that tells you to upgrade and pay $30. Feck that! I don't need to see every itsy bitsy detail that bad! And yes it is an attempt by Apple to make money. A mutually beneficial deal for LFL and Apple. $30 for a teaser, nah thanks! -
Listen you dorks (DJscoops and company) your looking at the "medium" trailer. That's why there's a freaking "md" in the file name. The link provided is for the large version (the one that doesn't make you squint to look at it) and it does demand that you have Pro.
It is extortion to some degree no matter how you look at it, in the past I had considered getting pro for other reasons but this just inspires me to ask some of my friends if they have a crack for it. Try to remember that trailers are adds and anything that makes it more difficult for average Joes to spread it around the LAN at work kind of defeats the purpose. -
Just downloaded the full version of the stuff (no problems, by the way. Just waited for it to fully load, then clicked "Save". For you with News feed, try chile.binarios.imagenes or chile.binarios.misc).
Anyway, then I saw it... he most pompous piece of "wanna_be_art_just_crap" I've seen this year. Dunno, maybe it's 'cause I'm not confident at all on this release... but I was just hoping for this trailer to recaptivate me... Just CGI crap, no soul. Looked like a Computer Game video. All those Copy/Paste clones, marching inside the ship... well, anyone that've seen the marching armies on Lord of the Rings trailers can tell you how much it sucks. Fake Fake Fake!
The worst part... yesterday local Cable Aired a New Hope, All my family watching, all enjoying the first one, filled with soul and some cheesy efects... a friend of my younger brtoher (9 years old) complained "nah! Boring! They TALK to much!!"... that show us how big Clones will be... the more it sucks, the better new audiences enjoy it.
Oh! By the way, that kid isn't coming back to my house, family decision ^o^ -
I had the pleasure (yes I said "pleasure" you haters) of seeing this preview over the weekend. I found the use of the vader respirator and inercutting of scenes to be in a word, menacing. While it can be argued we all know the general story here, one must consistently remind themselves when you see Natalie Portman kissing the Sith lord to be of just how dark the two remaining episodes are going to be. I am completely encouraged thus far and am looking forward to AOTC.
-
It seems that if you use this dirrect link that SauloB provided you by pass the screen requesting that you upgrade.

But average users out there that aren't reading a place like this and cant find it for them selves are still screwed. -

So let me get this straight, i have to spend 30 bucks to get the large screen version of a "teaser" trailer, while with Lord of the Rings and past trailers, i paid absolutely nothing and got large to full-screen for free. Thank Snapple some of of you talkbackers posted the link to the large. u guys rock! True i respect the work that goes into encoding and what apple has to pay for bandwidth but come on! I'm gonna need a bigger reason than "to watch a Star Wars Teaser Trailer" to wanna spend the cash on an upgrade. By the way, loved the trailer. The breathing, the quick glimpes, and yoda looks much much cooler than in the previous film. Episode one was not a letdown for me, but i am expecting episode 2 to be explosive.

Cant comment on this QT pro needed thing because I already have it. But if we could get back to the subject in hand i.e. the trailer itself, I liked it. So sue me!! It wasn't as cool as the LotR trailer but then its half the length and just a teaser. Im sure the full one (hopefully on the UK release of Harry Potter which means Ill be seeing it this coming Sunday) will be much better. But for now I have faith that AOTC will be a good film if not a great one!
-
Top 11 reasons for jar Jar:
1.He fufills Campbell's hero arc: Qui-Gon/Trade Federation is his CALL....He even refuses it a couple of times.
2.The MOVIE/Lucas is IN on some people having no patience with the little Gungan (Obi-Wan:"Pathetic Lifeform", Gungan's banishment, Sebulba, Pit droid kicks him in the balls)
3.He represents what it's like to be a CHILD in an adult world. Looked down upon, feeling CLUMSY, Out of place.
4.Contrasts with the "pickle up their asses" Jedi. He is an EMOTIONAL basketcase...The flip of the Emotionally-constricted Jedi.
5.He is a parallel to Anakin...will continue to parallel him in FUTURE darker episodes.
6.He is a hippie...came from a warrior-based society....didn't fit in...this manifested itself in his clumsiness.
7.Need him to take the edge of some of the (dry)political aspects of TPM for the kiddies.
8.Important excercise for ILM ...For future dividends.
9.COMPLETELY integral to the plot of the film: He brings Qui-Gon to Gungans so they can get to THEED, He is the key for Padme bringing the Naboo and the Gungans together. 10.He makes POLITICALLY correct people seem like the jack-asses they are: Anybody who says he is a black stereotype is showing their own racist colors: The character was played by a BLACK man....ILM used his his performance to create his character, motion-capturing, his voice, etc.....Anything BLACK is because the performance is BASED on a BLACK MAN, dumbfucks!
11.The FORCE is strong with this one...."In my experience there is no such as luck"
BTW:If someone says Jar Jar sounds like a JAMAICAN, i'LL BITCH-SLAP THEM.....tHAT'S INSULTING...dO YOU KNOW what a Jamaican sounds like, fuck wads?!!!! -
Oh oh, more Romanesque names :)...All that was missing, was a slight heartbeat in the background.

The trailer looked pretty cool, but until the movie actually comes out who knows. Apple upgraded their product,(which is superior to other players) so they are charging for it. Its their right and if it makes viewing better then its worth it. if you have a problem with it then don't upgrade, but quit crying about it.

Most of us are prepared for the very worst, but I'm also pretty confident that this will be a damn sight better than TPM, hopefully even better than 'Jedi' and maybe in the same league as the first two. As far as TPM goes, of course it wasn't THAT bad. A lot of problems, yes, but also a lot to like, and better than the run-of-the-mill summer blockbusters like 'The Mummy' and 'Armageddon'. 'Wild Wild West' was released weeks after 'TPM', and should have put the whole thing in perspective, as 'WWW' really was THAT BAD. Name one major working film maker who's never screwed up, who has made one faultless gem after another. I'll take 'The Phantom Menace' over Peter Jackson's 'The Frighteners' any old time. As for people who complain about the merchandising and tie ins, didn't Lucas practically invent modern movie merchandising? When was 'Star Wars' ever anything but a gargantuan money making machine, the definition of corporate film making?

It's a 1 minute teaser trailer. A collage of images from the upcoming movie. Its says nothing, nor tells us anything about the story. Anyone who is willing to put forth the time or energy to dissect something like this is a complete moron. All this serves is to give you a very brief taste of what is in store for us next May. At this point, the movie could be a complete dud, or a absolute masterpiece. Anyone who gets worked up over this needs to GET A LIFE!!! I saw the teaser, and I thought, "hey, kinda cool, kinda dark... I'll know more next spring..." AND THAT'S IT!! If you think that a 1 second clip of Jango Fett or CGI Yoda gives you the credence to pass judgement on Lucas's work... you're a friggin' IDIOT!! Wait... be patient... if it sucks... it will suck, and we will know MAY 2002. Until then, shut the f@ up GEEKS!!!

SicBoy you are a cock, back in 1977 one of the best films to ever grace our screens came out. The imagination and detail put into this film was such a splendid sight to see. That film of course was STAR WARS, you know, that film that spawned hundreds of films trying to come close to it. Star Wars is to cinema what the Beatles are to music, landmarks. Most of the films out today, the effects are done by ILM. Most people believe that they do these effects to try out the latest ideas for the STAR WARS films. So when along comes a new film in this series, it is a part of film history. AOTC will not be the flop that you hope it will be, dont you think after seeing George Lucas's face when he seen the finished product on the DVD of TPM, that he knew it wasnt what he wanted? Dont you think that he learnt by his mistakes? To any movie lover a Star Wars film is a nice way of losing yourself in a piece of fantasy, the same which will be done by everyone here when they see LOTR and Harry Potter. You go to a cinema and see a film for

Eriador (Reuter) Nov 5 -- Wizard denies blame for collateral damage. Fresh from saving the world from 'a dark fate worse than death', the wizard Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings faced harsh questioning about his conduct in JRR Tolkien's famous trilogy. At an often heated press conference held after the Return of the King, Gandalf, also known as the Grey Pilgrim, Mithrandir and the Grey Wanderer, denied responsibility for the trilogy's excessive body count and the wholesale slaughter of innocents, which occur at regular intervals throughout the tale. The sorcerer also denied exposing the lovable but diminutive and frail hobbits to extreme danger in their journey to 'the dark land' to defeat 'the dark Lord', and claimed the psychological scars sustained by the hobbit Frodo were 'his own stupid fault'. The increasingly cross conjurer was particularly incensed by Guardian reporter Polly Bunting's suggestion that his own neglect and mismanagement, particularly in the early stages of the campaign, led to hundreds, if not thousands of unecessary deaths. 'That's an outrage,' said Gandalf, who has no surname but is part of a mysterious race of super beings known as 'the Valar', who are sworn to fight the 'dark one'. When asked why he simply didn't use his friends the eagles to hover over the 'dark mountain' and drop the ring into the 'dark flame whence it came', the maddened mage had to be restrained by his friends, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli, fellow characters in the novel, who each play key roles in defeating 'the armies of darkness'. And a spokesperson for ASH, the anti-smoking lobby group, needed protection after she challenged Gandalf, a lifetime pipe smoker, to set a proper example to the vulnerable youngsters who read the world-famous trilogy. The enraged enchanter produced his pipe and lunged at ASH public promotions manager Noleen Drayton, shouting that for all he cared he would gladly thrust his three-bowl-a-day habit right up her gluteus maximus. Apple has charged for the professional version of Quicktime for years. I bought QT4 in 1999, and presume QT3 Pro also wasn't free. Needing less to say, Apple doesn't have a damn thing to do with this, beyond making a good app. Lucas et al could have released as an .mpg or Windows Media, whatever - QT Pro has run users $30 for two years and two releases, there is no Steve Jobs conspiracy theory (unlike Mac Manager 2, which is unrepentantly evil...)
-
Did you read anything that I wrote, or did you simply scan through the text, picking out a few choice words?? Like I said before...morons!! I don't care what kind of feelings you take away from the teaser. They could be elation, enthusiasm, disappointment...whatever. All I'm saying is, that it is too early to judge a film, or pre-judge a film based on 1 minute's worth of footage. Look at The Phantom Menace trailers as an example. We thought that those were amazing... that the movie would 'rock'. But as I'm sure many of us can agree, the movie was underwhelming to say the least. I have high hopes for AOTC, but they are guarded. I know that Lucas is now not perfect. That he is a mediocre writer at best. He is capable of dreaming up some wondrous characters, set pieces, a whole new universe... but he is still human, and prone to mistakes. My feeling is that AOTC will be a better film, but where it stands in the pantheon of Star Wars films is still to be determined, and may not be fully known until all 6 chapters are finally told. So be patient, relax, enjoy the teaser... and remember, its only a movie. And you're right!! SICBOY IS GREAT!!!
-
Yes, I read your post. You were basically slating us for getting worked up over this teaser. Am I right?.... Now, did you read my post which stated that "I HAVE READ THE SCRIPT", He hasnt done anything wrong its a 1000000 times better script than TPM. We are allowed to get worked up over what ever we want, so like I said go back to your stallone film and laugh. A GREAT SCRIPT & AMAZING EFFECTS = Guess What?? An AMAZING FILM. I am not getting worked up, I know what the films plot is. The teaser only confirms what I have read, that he has given us Fans what we want. I can get worked up if I want though, same as anyone here. Its what this place is for, is it not? And yes you are great, like everyone else here. Now chill out and await a masterpiece.

Guys/gals... the teaser plays fine in the regular FREE version of quicktime. Go to the link http://www.movie-list.com/s/starwars2.shtml and click on the high-res MIRROR. It will play just fine. By the way... GREAT looking trailer... holding "breath" until next summer 2002!

the teaser is FUNKY AS!!! What more do you dorks want?! Stop ya

I love this teaser trailer, and now fully understand that no matter what is thrown at you talkbackers, all you do is BITCH BITCH AND BITCH. The Lord of the Rings trailer is amazing and yet still you get idiots saying "this sucks" "he's a hack" etc etc. Its darth vader breathing over the top of some awesome visuals- ER... Aren'y you fanboys supposed to be EXCITED?! Maybe you've learnt not to go overboard since the sour taste left from TPM, but surely, u must still find this teaser pretty cool? And the Quicktime Pro thing? I say good on 'em... whos responsible , who knows... but welcome to the real world boys and girls, nothing is for free (though we obviously have found how to get our hands on the nice big version *heheh*). Id go on, but harry pretty much summed up those thoughts. QUAMBY BEAR.

Morons. Quit your whining and download the damn thing. By the way, it ROCKS. Mark my words: while LotR will be a great film, Episode II AotC will stomp all over it. Oh, and they will both take a giant collective dump on that overrated, overlong, Kung-Fu Keanu filled GAP ad known as the Matrix Trilogy. I'm sorry folks, but the Matrix is for faggots and sailors. End of story.
-
Harry: Really I'm happy for you that you can throw thirty bucks at a wealthy corporation for the privilege of seeing a trailer for a movie you'll end up paying less than eight bucks to watch. But it sorta sucks for those of us who can't justify that much for two minutes of fun. Too bad Apple has gone the Microsoft route here. And what is LucasFilm THINKING? I thought the whole point of a trailer was that it be seen by the maximum possible number of people. Anyway, thanks for the great screen shots. All indications are Episode II will be the best since "Empire".

Sorry, I didn't much care for 'True Lies' or 'Titanic'. And much as I love 'T2', 'The Shining', and 'Full Metal Jacket', none of them are flawless films. And Kubrick is not a working film maker, which was my caveat.

Pretty kewl, pretty neat-o and doesn't that Hayden feller loo
by smugbug
Like how Mark Hamill looked in SW: A New Hope. He got in that car wreck AFTER that and didn't they have to reconstruct his face? Oh well. But this teaser looked kewl - everyone in it had that "lookin like I have a sense of purpose" expression. And I won't dare compare it to LoTR. Like why? Two totally different genres here - like comparing apples/oranges, kiwi/grapes, etc.

Miss Aura, my point wasn't about whether its good or not. And I honestly hope it is. It's been since 1980 that we've had a truly great Star Wars film. My point was that you cannot base your film criticism on a script (valid or not) and a one minute teaser. I think the teaser served its purposed. It piqued our interest, and it gives us some hope. I honestly feel that this film will be superior to TPM. But I also have fears about Lucas and his abilities to write a strong and captivating script that allows the characters to be the most important parts of the plot... not the vehicles, the sets, or the odd aliens and special effects. Back in the original trilogy, Lucas often called upon the skills of excellent script writers (i.e. Kasdan) and directers (i.e. Kershner and Marquand) to help propel the story forward. While Lucas stuck to doing what he does best, create exciting visuals and fantastic worlds. What made The Empire Strikes Back so great was that we fell in love with the characters, through the effective use of humor and drama. We'll never forget scenes such as Han being cast into the Carbon Freeze, or Lukes first encounter with Vader because we truly cared about the characters. We believed they were suffering, and facing what seemed like insermountable odds. I never felt any of those feelings while watching TPM. Hopefully with AOTC we will care. The love that Anakin and Padme share will feel real, genuine. Anakin's eventual fall from grace, and to the dark side will feel justified. But until May 2002 we won't truly know, only hope. That is my point. I think the teaser is good, effective, but the jury is still out on this film. What aggravates me, is people overanalyzing something that cannot be analyzed. It's like reading the inside flap of a book, and critiquing the entire Novel based on that several paragraph 'setup'. It doesn't make sense. Midichlorians be damned!!! I liked the scene of all the freak children playing with their iMacs and iMac headgear. Also, the CGI in the scene of the troops marching up the ramps into the Star Destroyer Precursor is gay. Looks and feels as emotionless as the hordes of droids and Gungans in Phantom Menace. On the whole, I think this is the crappiest of all the trailers. The trailers for TPM had me creaming my jeans (that was before any of us knew it was going to suck, mind you). I realized why it does nothing for me now. It didn't have John Williams' original trilogy music playing over it. Hey, I listen to classical, I know the tricks you can do with some good music, but Williams' neo-romantic bullshit from the original trilogy still gets me. :-)

None of the links to any of the trailers are working. I think that the problem may be with Apple, not AICN.
-
I'm a big SW fan. Loved Ep. 4,5,6. Disliked TPM, though it had some nice moments. It just didn't FEEL like a SW flick though. This new trailer looks like more of the same ... TOO MUCH DAMN CGI!!! It's like Lucas is turning to animation rather than giving us films with live actors. I was very discouraged to see Watto again. I hated that character. FORGET THE SPECIAL EFFECTS GEORGE! FOCUS ON STORY AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! GO WATCH EMPIRE STRIKES BACK AGAIN AND HIRE A DIRECTOR TO DO #3 FOR YOU!
-
i here of so many people screaming they cant save the trailer. just go to one of the hundreds of links that are even mentioned in this forum and RIGHT CLICK THE TEXT LINK, THEN SAVE AS....that simple, should work for most. i got the high res large trailer no problem. sicboy you rule. exactly. rejoice morons, whine whine whine, fucking starwars getting darker, lotr trilogy here once a year, frigging rejoice. GOOD GEORGE CRAM THE MOVIES WITH SPECIAL EFFECTS, GUESS WHAT, IN 77, ALL WE SAID WAS, MAN! LOOK AT THOSE FUCKING SPECIAL EFFECTS!!!! BUT NOW, wah wah, the script and acting arent perfect. STARWARS WAS PUT ON THIS EARTH TO PUSH THE LIMITS OF SPECIAL EFFECTS AND EYE CANDY, TO GIVE A NEW UNIVERSE TOP CHECK OUT AND HAVE THE BALLS TO BREAK GROUND DOING IT. good, i hope theres 4000 effects in this one.

...had her. No really, I'm serious.

Gee Bunger that sounds awful. Did you buy me dinner first? Besides purdy 'lil Nat is all grownz up now. But I'm sure a stand up guy like you is already familiar with the more personal details of her life, like b-days, her pets name, what her key chain looks like, etc...

I'm always the subject of someones erotic homosexual rape fantasy. SIGH! Always a bridesmaid and never a bride, so to speak.
-
Not only did the large trailer download with no problems, it even allowed me to save it directly to disk without all that cache file crap. Many previous Apple movie trailers and such had somehow "locked out" the save feature. Guess Apple (and maybe Lucasfilm) may be getting nice in thier old age.
-
Quicktime.com--very simple, geniuses. The high-res trailer is mindblowingly clear.

I loved The Phantom Menace. Really. Jar Jar didn't bother me. But I know a lot of you hated it. In fact, my older brother, who was thirty when it TPM came out, equates the film with the raping of his childhood. Bitter? You bet! It sounds like most of you have the same problem. Try this; Whatever imagined slight, George Lucas has commited upon your psyche, let it go. Just, let it go. It's pathetic. On a sidenote, loved the trailer. Great look to the film thus far. I know I'll have a good time. How about you?

In the first shot of obi-won and anakin, anakin has a green lightsaber and obi-won has a blue one. but in the second shot of anakin fighting someone else, he's got a blue lightsaber instead. Is this a random thing or does it relate to the plot somehow?
-
...I'm your host, Linda Richards. Ugh! Just looking at that trailer makes me verclempt...oh, here I go with the crying...go on, talk amongst yourselves...here's a topic - did anyone notice that at one point of the trailer Anikan has a green light saber(maybe Qui - Gon's) but at the end he's fighting with a blue one(maybe Obi Won's). "So what's up with that?" he wondered to himself...
So I'm a geek. Get bent. -
I did'nt mind it at all.....looks moody.Pity about JJ Binks...
-
This sucks, damn Steve and George.
Is this the way to treat the fans?...
-
The fact that some people are upset over him returning just shows they were out to hate TPM no matter what.
Who cares? Star Wars doesn't need them. The AOTC teaser was cool for what it was . . . A TEASER! -
And it

I CANNOT BELIEVE NO ONE HAS PICKED UP ON THIS - READ NOW!!!!

Listen to the sound at the end of the trailer. It is taken direct from the WEAKEST LINK!! It is!! I am from the UK, so perhaps the US edition has different sound FX, but I don't think so. They should sue Lucas for this blatant plagiarism!! Give his lawyers a taste of their own medicine!

Do you people even REMEMBER the first LOTR teaser? I grant you that the latest trailers have been impressive, but that first teaser was AWFUL! It was just the characters moving from one side of the screen to the other. Then a nice shot of some jewelry. Oh look! Now they're moving back across the screen! And then the release date, and the next trailer. That was it. Wanna know WHY? BECAUSE IT WAS JUST A FUCKING TEASER YOU MORONS! It was only made and distributed to prove that the film was coming out! The film wasn't finished yet (nor is AOTC), it was just to show that some footage was in the can, this is what the characters look like, we'll let you know more later. Teasers are only supposed to do jus that: TEASE. Not feeling completely sated by a minute of footage? YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO. It's only supposed to WHET your appetite, not to QUENCH it. And stop comparing the AOTC TEASER to the final LOTR TRAILER. That trailer was released after all the effects work had been done with just a couple of months til the films release. This teaser is just a glimpse of the characters we'll be seeing over HALF A FUCKING YEAR FROM NOW. If it gave you all you want, it'd ruin the experience of seeing the movie. Be THANKFUL it didn't spoil any money-shot moments like the double-bladed lightsaber in the TPM trailer. For fucks sake there is just no pleasing the acne-scarred masses...

Lucas has lost focus: AOTC may make money, but it will SUCK

Mailfisted, that article had to be a joke, right? Right? And sparticusmaximus, I can't even address your reasoning it's so whacked. I'm sorry, I just can't relate. How can anyone not see how suffocatingly annoying and unnecessary Jar Jar Binks is in the context of this or any movie? Is it any wonder that Jar Jar is probably the most reviled character in movies in the last 20 years? I'm not here to say that SW is this holy thing which is sacred and can't be tampered with or changed by Lucas. That would make it pretty boring if I believed that. But to introduce a character whose only reason for existence seems to be to get a cheap physical comedy laugh from the audience just reduces an already weak film the the point of absurdity. You are constantly jarred (pun probably should have been intended there now that I think about it) out of whatever happens to be going on (insofar as things DO go on in TPM) by JJB's ridiculous antics. What person, if you were suddenly deposited into the SW universe would not cheerfully kick JJB's fucking head in after he overreacts to something for the umpteenth time. "Hey Jar Jar, play around with this device for awhile. It's called a lightsaber. You look in this end like a telescope, then you push the red button." JJB just sucks the limited life out of TPM. It's hard to apply words like 'epic' to a film that has such a ridiculous, distracting, and annoying character as JJB. It's like Lucas should have hired the guy from Rowan & Martin's Laugh In in the raincoat riding the tricycle to follow JJB around. "Da-da da da-da da!" F-U-C-K J-A-R J-A-R!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very few topics get me worked up, but Jar Jar defenders are top three. He is the worst. The WORST. -

UN-FUKING-BELIEVABLE...TAKE ME AWAY LUCAS...HE IS A FILM GOD!!!
by darkwind77
and yes TPM kinda sucked but all will be forgiven (even jar jar) if this film is half as incredible as the trailer.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but the music on the teaser is 'Let there be Light', the first piece of music we hear in Close Encounters
What threw me off was those Darth Maul style drums that they've added on the bit with Slave 1 flying through the Asteroids
Great teaser! cant wait for this! cinema is going to be so cool over the next 13 months!! -
Use keywords such as "breathing", "clones", and "episode II". It's there, I just watched it, and fuck big boy's attempt to get you to buy Quick Pro. Sorry bud!

Hey, not to give Lucasfilm any incentive to fuck over the fans even more by taking the hi-res streaming option off the internet but downloading streaming trailer from www.theforce.ca the quicktime file is copied into your Temporary Internet Files in Windows. If you quickly copy it into another file then you have it for good. You have to do it quickly though because it times out after a while and goes to the www.starwars.com site. Does anyone else find it ironic that Lucasfilm has become such a evil corporate empire making movies about a rebelion against an evil empire? And how much did Harry get paid to say we all need Quick Time Pro?

From the script, it seems to me that Lucas has got it right. My only problem with it, is that Star Wars films are known for entertaining Kids. This one is different, it has a more mature attitude about it and I think that this will hold off some kids from seeing it. But then again if the kids are seeking amazing action scenes, they will love it. The number of action sequences which are described in the script far outweighs any SW film before it. As Lucas said on the DVD of TPM, all we have seen is Old Jedi and Lowly Trained Jedi (Luke) fighting now you are going to see the full hardcore power of what a Jedi can do. I raise a glass to Lucas because it takes a strong man to admit that he made mistakes with TPM, he said about Jar Jar that if they dont get it right then it could be a disaster. I will never give anything away about it, regarding scenes but believe me we are all in for what I believe will be a revelation for the Star Wars universe and I cannot help thinking that Hayden is so perfect to play Anakin, which will boost the film after the lacklustre (I still cannot believe how bad) performance of Jake Lloyd. With the year we have just had regarding film, it will be a great year to come. The one thing which is scaring me though is about LOTR, though I am waiting for the film with anticipation for it being a classic. I cannot help thinking that HARRY POTTER has stole its thunder, because the reviews here in the UK are praising it to the heavens which hopefully will boost childrens fascination for fantasy and make them more interested in the literature classic which is LOTR. But it could backfire and if LOTR is not a patch on Harry Potter, it could flop. Harry Potter will be the biggest grossing film of the year thats for sure, but will it be the biggest grossing film EVER? I myself will see all 3 films and think that I will enjoy all 3 wholeheartedly but I cant help think that Harry Potter by coming out earlier than LOTR, has dented LOTR's hopes of being a classic. Only my opinion mind.

I have seen the teaser for AOTC and I thought it was a brilliant teaser, I am a big star wars fan and I have all the movies as part of my collection, all versions of them and media.
ANH, ESB and ROTJ, the storyline was loosely based on the Arthurian Legend, so the storyline is pretty strong. SW episodes 1 to 3 are just the backstory to it and we all know that TPM is like an introduction movie, which makes the storyline for that movie very weak.
TPM has a lot of flaws, I think the main thing was that it was a lazy movie, the script was lazy the directing was lazy. Acting was flat, not the best directing effort from Lucas. He even made a good actor like Neeson act so badly. Nothing in TPM really worked for me, if I have to describe it in one word, the movie was lifeless. It was a CGI overkill(everything looked so fake) most disappointing was the battle scene between the Gungans and the droids. The mother ship got destroyed with an oops tell me if that was not a lazy solution. TPM was also filled with racial stereotype undertones(Jarjar a throwback to blackfaced silly characters, the treacherous asians in the ministers, and the greedy arab in Watto). TPM was a big mess.
AOTC I hope will be better, I hope he will strengthen the storyline, he needs writing help like the one suggested from an earlier post, Kasdan could be a big help. But one thing that would really help I think is to hire Yuen Wo Ping as his fight choreographer, that will be great. I want to see more Jedis too where were they in TPM.
I am a big Star Wars fan but I am a bigger Movie fan, so I look forward to watching LOTR, HP the matrix sequels and spiderman too, I love them all.
-
I don't think CGI was used for "The Rocketeer". I believe it was minitures and stuntmen on wires. Old school and very effective.
-
The trailer is misleading. You know it's still a kids film. George needs to grow up like everyone else did.
LONG LIVE
HOWARD THE DUCK -
Anybody know? There is no Temporary Internet Files folder in Windows 2000 to pull the file from.
