Here's the Handbill For The MAD MAX 4 Audition In Sydney, Australia!!!

Published at:  Oct 08, 2001 10:08:22 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here.... that wonderful fella from MillerToTheMax.Com (aka The George Miller Website) named Les sent me a note saying that he had found the Handbill advertising the casting as well as other... ummm more remarkable activities that apparently go down at this high class Sydney establishment... Sounds a lot like the places young seaman Quint has been frequenting with his latest courtesian Ms. Meat. Well, here ya go...

    vital ingredients

    by y282

There are 2 things that make Mad Max, the character & the cars. Proper muscle car action, not tractors, etc and a ruthless driver are essential to get the real fans involved here. Of course a few extras from clubs like the one above can't hurt...

    NOT WITHOUT MEL!!!!

    by purple toupee

Mad Max IV could be great....IF they get Gibson back. It can only work with the original Max.

    Max without the Mullet?

    by wonton mercenary

    HELL NO, THAT WON"T GO!!!

Whatever, I'm looking forward to seeing Mel snap back into 80's style, even if it is without the mullet. After Mr. Gibson got his ass kicked at the box office with "Braveheart Moves To South Carolina, Has His Wife Killed Again, and Fights the Brits Again," I had sort of lost hope in the boy. But this is promising - especially since they are rounding up all these S&M freaks in Aussie Land - which is basically what they did with the originals. I mean come on, the reason they picked Gibson in the first place was because the night before he was in a barroom brawl and his face looked like someone had covered his face with Vienna sausages and let Marlon Brando go after him. Mad Max is a tough ass series, no CGI bullshit here. And since Hollywood hasn't made a good car chase film in years (even if I was amused by the beginning sequence in "Jeepers Creepers"), I'm really looking forward to this considering that "The Road Warrior" is tied in my book with "Bullit" as best chase sequence ever - and don't come on this damn thing sayin' "What about Nic Cage's 'Gone in Sixty Seconds'?" or "What about 'The Fast and the Furious'?" because I will then be forced to send BLASTER to your house to royally kick your ass, Kevin Smith style.

Overall, I'm excited. Get Morgan Freeman to play some visionary in it along with Guy Pearce as a long haired nomad warrior armoured with truck tire treads and this movie will kick so much ass, I'll have to wear Atari t-shirt daily for a year to prove that the 80s were the greatest.

Oh yeah, as long as Bret Ratner doesn't direct and there is no black comic relief (aka Chris Tucker, aka Jar Jar "Ya Massa" Binks). We offer this prayer to THE CINEMNA GODS ON HIGH...

No No No Screw Mel Gibson he's too old!!! T.V series!!

    by starman1066

I will tell you what would be cool... well in my opionion..
If they had any sense they should take those squillions of dollars and make a kick ass t.v series. Get the guys who make "Farscape" and have a "Kung Fu" style of man traveling though screwed up new towns, righting wrongs and kicking some serious ass. Get all the freaks and geeks that they always have in the films, but concentrate on what happened to the world after M.M3. How the world stuggles to get back it's humanity. That would make a great T.V series.
Mel, if they could afford him could get the ball rolling, before they hand it over to someone who could give the licence some new blood.
    What do people think??

    MAX

    by alcester

what i thought made THE ROAD WARRIOR great was the tone and atmosphere of the wasteland. and also the music. it was intense and dangerous. BEYOND THUNDERDOME was like a Disney version of a MAD MAX movie. so im not getting all excited about this new one. just like after RETURN OF THE JEDI and THE PHANTOM MENACE, i dont give a damn about STAR WARS anymore!

    "no CGI bullshit here?

    by van dog

George Miller (The Age's Good Weekend Magazine,Australia):
"One of the reasons for doing the film now is a new dispensation in filmmaking, and that is CGI. Working on the Babe films and seeing what you can do now in the digital realm makes the Mad Max films a whole new ball game. Courtesy of digital development, you can pull off shots that would have been quite literaly physically impossible previously."

I actually saw "Braveheart Moves To South Carolina, Has His Wife Killed Again, and Fights the Brits Again," and I must say it was not the P.O.S. flick I thought it would be. I would even go so far as to say I liked it. Nice show down at the end and all. People are saying

Mel has gotten too big for Mad Max

    by hawauer29a

gosh, he dumped movies in the past like Gladiator and Perfect Storm, both good films, and just last week silently moved out of that potentially huge USS Indianapolis movie, for this? No, don't think so. He's Mel Gibson for crying out loud. As much as I want to see Mel back as Max, I suspect he will get involved only on the production level.

No CGI ! And did Spielberg have a hand in Thunderdome?

    by horus

One *George* is already wrecking his film franchise with shite and obvious cgi , we don't need another one going the same route.I watched Road warrior the other week , and it's hardly dated at all.Know why? because pretty much all the effect are *live* and full scale.Theres a few process shots at best.It all looks gritty ,and *on location* in a really brutal future. The shot where the refinery goes up is awesome..Beyond Thunderdone ,lost that entirely , with bad obvious indoor sets, and some piss weak model work.Plus as an aside , it looked like someone cut the balls off that project.I'm pretty sure Spielberg had a hand in it.The toned down violence , rollercoaster ride {none}thrills and those f**king wild kids, have his mark all over them.I remember that Road Warrior came out at the same time as Raiders of the lost ark.Max stole a lot of Spielbergs glory{outdoing his truck scene} I'm sure he produced Thunderdone on the quite and undermined it at the same time.A mate of mine in Australia sent me some news cuttings , that told how Aussie film technicians were striking over , what they saw as an ,Hollywood take over of the project.Having G.Miller direct a segment of His Twighlight Zone movie shortly afterwards ,{The only decent part!}adds to the theory.
