Hey Folks, Harry here... Some filmmakers' processes are held secret, hidden from the eyes of men and women such as you and I. These filmmakers have a curtain that people like myself, never have the opportunity to peer behind. We imagine blinding golden light and angelic choral singing that would illuminate our very spirit, if perchance, we would get a peek.

Today, the UK paper, The Guardian... has an illuminating article written by the legendary film editor, Roderick Jaynes. Now Roderick was a superior editor working not for credit, but for craft... He loved the art of putting a film together. He enjoyed living in obscurity as the master editor behind many of the names and films you believe to be edited by others... And then the Coens tracked him down, he had retired, but they managed to convince this man to work solely upon their movies.

Since we all adore the Coens' work so much, and since the editing in their films is such a defining masterstroke... I've often wanted to interview Roderick Jaynes. Alas, when you contact whatever publicist it is that is working to promote the Coens' films... They always schedule the interview that never comes to pass.

So it was with great glee that I clicked immediately upon the link that Iona provided me with.

I am crushed. No golden light. No angelic choral singing. Instead darkness and despair. The picture that Roderick Jaynes paints of the brothers is not very pretty. In fact, in this light, I am forced to think of them as rushing to a TV to watch Wapner.

At least we know that so long as Roderick Jaynes is alive and healthy he will protect us from the real Coens. So much the better.

To the USA Publicity People, I would love to conduct an email interview with Roderick Jaynes. I would email y'all the questions... but now that I've read this, I realize that he is definitely the person to discuss the Coens' work with... or more to the point... his own.
