DMANN Gives Tonight's DREW CAREY *****!!

I am – Hercules!!

I'm not a regular viewer of "Drew Carey" (it's on opposite "The West Wing," among other things), but tonight's episode: it intrigues me.

Here’s Dmann:

Drew Carey’s Rock & Roll Back To School Special

Reviewed by Dmann

Don’t expect this to be one of the usual Drew Carey Shows, this is a bizzarre episode, featuring Jenny McCarthy, SheDaisy, Sugar Ray, Peter Frampton, SmashMouth, Unkle Kracker, and sketch comedy.

The show starts out telling us this, and then the skits come faster, quicker and with less bullshit than any of the skit com shows on today. Look for Ryan Stiles shop teacher skit, Drew’s PSA about Cooties, and the Bobby The Babysitting Bear cartoon. It's not a Smeigel cartoon, but it's still damn funny!

Stiles and Dedrich Bader also shine in the little skit after SheDaisy plays, doing a riff on the “bad backup dancer” skit from SNL, showing that less really can be more. But more than that, the entire cast just kills! The writing, the acting, all are just hillarious.

The only real thing that keeps this from being perfect is the musical performances. It’s hard to say what is wrong, but they just don’t have the spontenaety of SNL or other live shows. It may just be that they are on tape, in a studio, and that Drew Carey doesn’t have the historical signifigance of SNL. They are good, but I think they could have had a little more of a live feel, rather than a video feel, they could have been great.

I don’t wanna give too much away, but DON’T miss this…tape it while you watch Enterprise, or vice versa, because this is one for the books! It's the best “stunt” episode on the show that has done some of the best stunt episodes ever.

    Drew Carey is not Funny

Ok I take that back! He is pretty funny! The funniest thing he does is laugh uncontrollably on "Who's Line is it Anyway".

My faith in the AICN reviewers is just going further down hill. I usually LOVE Drew Carrey, but tonights was fairly boring. The only real laugh was the exploding crotches. The rest was just cheesy and boring...

Drew Carey may have his moments but...

    by Cooler-than-Thou

he is definitely the show's weakest point. More times than not, Drew Carey just annoys the shit out of me on his show. The only time he's at his best is when he's being an asshole to someone and unfortunately that doesn't happen nearly enough. Plus it's incredibly cheesy. Now I'm a huge fan of Kevin Smith, so right off the bat you know I have a stomach for cheese. But the amount dished out on 'The Drew Carey Show' is enough to make the strongest man constipated. there is way too much. example- The Winford/Lauder olympic episode where all the employees where competing in the warehouse for that cheap fridge. it was awful. If it weren't for the fine comedic timing of Oswald, Louis & Mr Wick, I don't think I (or anyone else for that matter) could stomach this show.

Why did I waste my time?!?!??!!!

I agree. This review sucked. I tuned into Drew and taped "Enterprise" and wasted a night. I could have been doing my laundry instead. The only funny bit was the exploding fly scene. That was EPIC.
