Want to see what Scooby will look like in SCOOBY DOO'

Hey folks, Harry here and Hellboy sent me a pair of what seem to be promotional pics of SCOOBY DOO in the Movie of the same name. I love the look of Scooby here. And Lillard and Linda look great as Shaggy and Velma... BUT Freddie and Sarah look dead here. And while Scooby looks great, and I like Shaggy and Velma's look... I can't forget that the entire film is built on a script that sucks ass. But hey... Scooby looks cool... Now if they would digitally remove the offensive script and make a good one... we might be headed in the right direction!

FOR ME TO POOP ON! no they look ok.

How big is that damn dog?!?

    by Kieran

I swear, that dog could eat Buffy for dinner and still leave space for some Scooby Snax afterwards. Gotta be a Mistake. Woof!

    1st pic?

    by Spoons

What's the first pic? The link appears to be broken. I'm sure this movie will be terrible, but I'll see it because it has one of the most gorgeous actresses in Hollywood. I'm talking, of course, about Linda Cardellini, late of the well-missed Freaks & Geeks. I don't dig the 'do, though.

    Doobie Snacks

    by BigDogg

This movie will blow harder than a Washington intern. Scooby in my opinion doesn't look "cool", he looks like a fucking plush doll (which I'm sure will be released to make money). Everybody knows Freddie Prinze Jr. can't act, the only reason he gets roles is because the girls think he's cute. Prinze has the amazing superpower of draining all charisma from a scene and making all men whose dates dragged them to the theater plus girls over 20 run from the theater in horror, wondering why they wasted their money!

    doesn't look too bad....

    by cameron fry

It doesn't look too bad. The dog, that is. F.P. and Lillard look like a couple of schumcks. Didn't the casting director remember the age-old Principle of F.P. which states that any movie which features Freddie Prinze Jr. will suck beyond all standards of a shitty movie. Well, Bufyy looks hot so I'll be there opening weekend.

Only if Scoob is anatomically correct. That would be worth the entrance fee - giant CGI testes bouncing across the screen. Daphne certainly seems anatomically correct. Shan't complain that they got her costume wrong.

    Scoob dosen't look bad

    by Terry_1978

The guys that did baby Dino for Viva Rock Vegas worked on him, I think....and they did some nice CGI work there. SD looks pretty much like you'd expect....cartoony exaggerated features but semi-realistic. The movie may suck, but at least CGI is as good as ever....?

    by Sith Witch

Scooby looks cool...would have been better as a real dog. And why is Shaggy's hair not a bowl cut? What, are they screwing this up by ALSO setting it in the present day rather than where it should take place, in the seventies? This is definitely suffering from the movie-by-committee syndrome ala Inspector Gadget, and anyone working on the film knows it. The question is, why will know do anything to fix it? Laziness and ambivalence I tell you. Sure it might make a quick buck, but five years from now no one will even remember it...All that effort down the drain.

Does anyone remember the video that was shot on the set where SMG makes a big deal about her cleavage being a major part of the movie? Looks like she wasn't kidding. How many Scooby Snacks did it take to get her to do that?????

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 10:50 a.m. CST

Scooby looks ok...Still won't see the damn movie though

    by PR_GMR

Scooby looks ok...Still won't see the damn movie though. If the script is as 'suck ass' as Harry has referred to it,regardless of the movie's look, it will be the biggest stink bomb in theaters. No need to go into how Freddie Prinze Jr has the acting ability of a clam. And who in Hollywood has come up with this Freddie Prinze Jr/Matthew Lillard buddy movie relationship? Last they were seen in 'Summer Catch' the three people who actually saw that. They're not Chris Tucker/Jackie Chan or Mel Gibson/Danny Glover buddy movie material. Stop casting these two wankers together as if they're some sort of divine comedic pairing. Wing Commander anyone? Lastly, with a god-awful script, this movie should be a bomb but if by some sick sense of humanity this movie becomes a blockbuster hit...I propose people coming out of the theater should be pubicly flogged (You people who made 'Tomb Raider' and 'The Mummy Returns' into hits take notice)Heh.

    New Scooby Doo Movie

    by StinkyCrapFace

I grew up watching Scooby Doo and Daphne never looked that good!!! Freddy is pathetic looking, Shaggy and Velma look halfway decent. Scooby Doo looks ok I guess. Just from seeing the picture of the Scooby Doo Detective Agency, I am pretty sure I won't bother going to the theater and paying good money to watch it! I can wait til it is out for rent!

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 10:59 a.m. CST

    Scooby looks kinda creepy

    by Bad Guy

Something about his eyes... no matter where I go, the eyes seem to be following me, Mwahhhhhaaahhaaaahaaa!!! Actually, he looks pretty good, as do Shaggy and the girls, but Freddie Prinze Jr, looks like a douche bag. And this is not me jumping on the "Bash FP Jr Bandwagon". Besides one of those awful "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movies, I don't think I've ever seen one of his flicks. (I'm not exactly his target audience.) But the guy just doesn't look right at all in this part. Freddy should be bigger, more jock-like, and waspier. Even with that awful blonde hair, he looks too ethnic. I mean since when is their a shortage of blonde haired, blue eyed, all-American type actors in Hollywood?

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 11:07 a.m. CST

    What happened to Daphne?

    by 0007

Man, she looks almost nothing like the cartoon. She is really short even though her animated counterpart is tall, and she never wore go-go boots! Also, in the cartoon she was not anorexic looking! She was more leggy, quite a bit of a build like Nicole Kidman. Finally I agree with Sith Witch: What?, are Fred and Daphne not swingers anymore? If they had the scarves, got rid of the go-go boots, and changed around the script here-and-there during post-production then it would make up for any other egregious errors. I just wonder if the end titles has the theme reprise with these alternate added lyrics: Oh will there be---a Scooby 2? We're waitin' and we're willin'.

Hey, could they show a little more cleavage on Sarah? Geeez, I hope they dont have her running around too much like in the cartoons, because she's likely to give the kiddies a show.

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 11:09 a.m. CST

    It's all wrong

    by kryton

Since when has Shaggy been more than a 90 pound bean pole? And Velma was chunky, not the same weight as Daphne. And Fred shouldn't be that much smaller than Shaggy. Of course Fred should also be a man, but that's another story. Guess they knew the movie was going to suck so they pumped up the guys, slimmed the girls and bought anti-gravity bras from NASA. Maybe NASA also supplied all the barf bags that will be needed in the theaters for the people who go and actually see this stupid thing.

    Will Shaggy smoke pot?

    by Kris1

If Scooby would have been too cartoony, it would suck. If they would have used a realistic looking dog, it would suck. By using a perfect mix of the two, the designers have struck gold. It looks far better than I could have hoped. The only downfall... because they want to appeal to as many people as possible, i.e. children, Shaggy will probably be portrayed as a loveable idiot instead of a total pothead. That is a shame.

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 11:30 a.m. CST

    by Terry_1978

how well he interacts with Shaggy, the rest of the Mystery, INC. crew, and how he reacts to seeing the various ghosts and demons that they'll be encountering. Hopefully his animation will be top-notch.

Mathew Lillard in another movie with FPjr?WTF!

    by Rico_Escobar

Why is lillard in this movie? does fpjr really have enough pull to get this guy in every damn movie he's in? They were both in WCommander,Summer Catch...urghh!Why wont people realize they both suck, putting them together in one movie will make them suck harder! I dont know why Lillard pisses me off, may be because he make more money than me for the shitty work he does, or may be because he has a peanut head and acts like a little-white-boy-wanna-be-rapper in EVERY movie. I am now convinced that they both have contracts with satan.

    by exador

i know, i know....there seems to be this weird pact with these 2 guys....and frankly, i've never thought that freddy prinze jr. was good in any role yet....but as for llilard....I just like they guy....he has this infectious grin..and this sort of 'goofy' cool.......ever since "hackers", I've watched with interest to see if he would amount to anything.....and so far, it's been a wee bit of a disapointment.....with any luck this will be the last of his freddy's buddy movies, and maybe he can do something on his own.....we'll see......but if you haven't seen hackers, i'd suggest renting's far fetched, but an entertaining ride, and lillard as the hippy-esque 'cereal-killer' is just hysterical.....a great comic lee miller in the lead roll opposite angelina jolie....this flick rocks the casbah!....later folks...

    Scooby looks like Will Ferrell.

    by Cash Bailey

FP,Jr would be tolerable as just another talentless, lottery winner, pretty-boy if he wasn't such a complete tool in real life. Read that hilarious interview with him on Dark Horizons a few weeks ago where he totally talks himself up, and how great an actor he thinks he is. My favourite quote from it: "All my characters are different". He also can't help but say what an incredible Spider-Man he would have made. Tosser.

    by slaps_Forehead

I'm pretty sure Daphne in the cartoon of SD wasn't a street-walker turning tricks for smack. I'm postive she didn't wear a low cut dress like that. The answer to this puzzle of puzzles is that poor old SMG can't act for $hit so she might as well bear some cleavage to get the punters through the door. That whiney little voice of hers drives my cat up the frickin' wall. I don't have a crystal ball but I can tell you this movie will flop bigtime. I damn well hope so as I don't want a sequel to this abomination filmed in my hometown again.

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 4:41 p.m. CST

WTF! Do you want to know everything that is wrong with this pict

Since you obviously do, Lets start with Daphne: bad casting to start with, Daphne was tall very leggy, they got her costume completely wrong and thank god I'm not the only one who noticed no scarf.BTW, she had red red hair not blonde. Sarah Michelle Gellar's most likely to do a chop job on actually pulling off Daphne's personality. (hey Sarah stick to Buffy and only Buffy please?????) Freddie Prinze Jr.???? That would basically be all I would have to say about that but I'll go on... No scarf bad costuming once again, and since when did Shaggy become more muscular than Fred? Fred was supposed to be the man in this movie, guess they went wrong there. And one little other comment on him, does anyone else notice that Freddie Prinze Jr. looks simply ridiculous with blonde hair? Grrrr.......... To go on, the only thing I have to say about Velma is that I basically think that they did a fairly good job with her, but wasn't she supposed to be a bit on the chunky side? Oh well... So much for variety... Matthew Lillard. hrm, where to start? Too muscular, Shaggy is supposed to be thin and boney, clumsy and dumb looking...oh wait, he already IS dumb looking...sorry maybe a baggier shirt would make him look smaller instead of clinging to his muscles. Hmph.... As for Scooby, he was supposed be a large dog and to the dismay of many, that looks fairly accurate... There is my little piece of venting from Hollywood (or at least somewhere close to it)maybe if we actually don't go see this the casting and costumers will end up throwing themselves off a bridge... If we are so lucky, one can hope.

  • Sept. 24, 2001, 4:43 p.m. CST

That dog is WAY to smart-looking

    by Stephen Dedalus

Scooby was supposed to be sorta dumb-looking. That's part of what made him so loveable. And did Freddie Prinze Jr. put crisco in his hair? He reminds me of the "Calvin and Hobbes" strip where Calvin steals crisco from his mom's pantry because he thinks it will make him look cooler. Where's Hobbes when you need him?

    by magusreno

Freddie's a weakling? Shaggy's buff? Daphnie's short? The only one who looks remotely like the cartoon is Velma. How can they think casting the star of the week will make them more money than actual GOOD CASTING? At least they went with good looking actors unlike Cowwoman as Betty in the Flinstones...

    Well... what can I say??

    by Gabba-UK

Scooby is rather cool looking I have to admit. Velma looks like Velma as I remember her. Shaggy looks like well, like he's shagged out. Geller look's as hot as she ever does. Although I have to say that I remember Daphne was a redhead and I don't think SMG is right for the part. Denise Richards gets my vote! And then we come to Fred.... the only thing that Prinze has in common with Fred is the name. I mean forget the fact that he can't act, has no charisma that anyone has located as such (I'm sure he's a nice guy in real life. SMG certianly can't be going out with him 'cos of his talent!). But he is just so wrong!!! Look at him, just look at him! I always got the impression as I grew older watching the cartoon that Fred was a nice bloke that could if nessercery kick ass but with Prinze playing him I can't see him kicking up a fuss over something!! My 10yr old brother could kick Prinze's version of Fred into the middle of next week!! He looks like such a wimp! All those that have said that we should lay off FP, that he might be good in this film can't possably defend him now! He is just....wrong!

The characters of Fred and Daphne are SUPPOSED to be vacuuous, lame-brained bimbos. Sure, Freddy Prinze Jr. always has the same "Keanu-on-downers" look in his eye, but Sarah seems to be... oh forget it. Eventually, Freddie will run out of steam and end up playing a young college professor on a sitcom, with Lillard as his goofy-but-lovable basketball coaching best friend. And how can you teach children to read if they can't even fit inside the building?

Straight from Hollywood! The real reason Freddie Printz Jr. was

    by Smeg For Brains

His handlers have desparately been searching for a role where he could stare blankly at his costars (as is his style) and yet not get confused when they refered to him by a different name! This job is the first in a string of movies staring Printz as a man named Freddy (a'la Jackie Chan's many Jackie characters) and a last ditch effort at maintaining the career of a massively untalented cash cow!........ seriously I agree 100% with Harry on this one. Shaggy looks fine (though a little buff, my pal Harvey would have been perfect in that role) and Thelma is great (Mmm... Cardallini.... Mmm... Thelma...), but Geller and Printz are ridiculous in those roles. Printz is as far from the tall, blonde, all american cliche that Fred was, as you could possibly get, and geller is totally wrong for a sex pot, redhead bombshell. Keywords, blonde, and redhead.

Lillard looks like a crack head, not the mary jane smoker that Shaggy was. The cast is out of place, WHERE IS DHAPNE'S RED HAIR!!! This cast stinks but the movie will do good since most teenagers are MORONS!

Um.. in case this wasn't answered yet. To that person who thought scooby being that big was a mistake. Scooby is a Great Dane. One of the tallest dogs in the world. They are HUGE. I have seen some the size of ponies, heads that end near a grown mans chest. That is why he is so big. I think they all look great, except for maybe shaggy. In that pic he looks a bit to buff and confident. I have to look at it again, but his arms look a little to big and he has an I CAN KICK ASS smirk. Wasn't Shaggy a weak really skinny coward... yes yes he was. All of then look pretty damn good though.

    by Hunny_Dew

Freddy does have some sense in him, as soon as the movie was over, HE SHAVED HIS HEAD. I guess he felt the same way about the hair as we did. But for the reality of Daphne in THAT photo, you people need to remember that this is like the AFTER kinda photo. You know, like how they changed? I donno if Daph got intoduced to mr bleach or fred mr. I'm-a-puny-shrip-but-at-least-my-hair's-gelled-right, but I'm not expecting genius from this movie. Remember guys, this movie is directed towards post pubecent hormonaly driven teenagers, not overly skeptical 32 year olds. Maybe SMG's Boobs bounce when she runs, maybe Freddie will have an erection the size of kingdom come, but hey, who cares! all i know is when i download it off of the internet, I'll be enjoyin the erection. people listen to me... IT'S SCOOBY DOO.

    by Cthulu

Is this some kind of mass hysteria I'm witnessing? Did anyone here think a good feature could come out of Scooby Doo? SCOOBY DOO? Don't get me wrong, I'm not the least bit bothered by the mindless fun of the horribly dated Hanna Barbera cartoons involving a bunch of kids and their talking dog who drove around in a late 60s love van de-bunking ghost scares. It's actually pretty amusing stuff when you put your brain into sleep-mode. Casey Kasum's voice is always a hoot as well. I'm just bewildered by all the Cahiers Du Cinema-esque angst on this talkback. People are talking about the script for this thing like it's the long-awaited screen adaptation of Catcher in the Rye or something. People listen to me: THIS IS SCOOBY DOO. Even if the most talented group of filmmakers and actors put any thought into making a feature (live, CG, 2-D animation, what have you) out of this, the end result would be a big joke anyway! IT'S SCOOBY DOO. It was already bad. That's what made it so much kooky fun. I personally thought J&SBSB revealed just how out-of-date the original was to begin with. That being said, I will be seeing this movie in the privacy of my own home when it comes out on video for one reason and one reason alone. The incredibly spank-able Linda Cardellini. Now you know the real reason why I'll need the privacy...

I dont know which picture you're all looking at, but that dog does not resemble Scooby Doo. Sure, it looks like a very well done CGI real/cartoony dog, but it doesn't resemble Scoob. Not the head, at least. And it wouldn't have been difficult to make him more like Scooby. They have plastic Scooby toys, which held from any angle, look like Scoob. A good example of a cartoon to CGI crossover would have to be the Simpsons, when Homer went 3D. But I suppose in comparison with how the rest of the characters look apposed to thei cartoon selves, Scoob fits in. Which means...none of them look right. And with a movie like this, the look is very important! Secondly, we'll have to listen to how they sound! Scoob better sound like Scooby, not Arnold Scwarzeneggar ""get the heroes!"" Rawhkey

    Hey, Velma's being dieting...

    by Elliot_Kane

I don't remember her being that slim in the cartoons. Linda seems to have captured the essential 'Velma-ishness' though. SMG looks like Buffy in a halloween costume rather than Daphne, but then she is totally wrong for Daphne and they only cast her so that her fans would see the film. It'll probably work too. Matt Lillard actually looks fairly close - or as close as a real human could get. Freddie looks a match for SMG - which is to say, very poor casting. Scooby... Looks OK. Not great, not bad. I doubt I'll watch this.

This thing has taken too many bad turns

    by Egocentric

Okay, first, this movie could have been a great idea. Jeneane Gorofolo (or however you spell it) is perfect for a tongue in cheek Velma, Jim Carrey as Shaggy solely for his height and use of physical comedy, Fred's difficult, maybe Tim Daly (Joe on Wings, or The Fugitive if anyone watched that), and Daphne, well, she's completely peripheral. But, this cast is all wrong! People who would want to see a Scooby Doo movie are not the same people to see a Freddie Prinze Jr./Matthew Lillard movie. If that isn't bad enough, just imagine how unnerving it will be once previews come on and we have to start hearing Lillard do his best Shaggy voice. Speaking of which, did anyone see Rob Lowe do his impersonation of Shaggy on SNL? It was uncanny! How much you want to bet that Scrappy shows up in the end as some sort of horrible Lost In Space-like hint of a sequel?

    by Elipse

Oh, please tell me wacky funnyman Rip Taylor was available to play the demented fiend du jour in THIS one! Or at least, jovial, portly old Jerry (The Beev) Mathers! I smelled "bad" long ago, when I first herad speculation on a SCOOBY mixed feature, and my wife passed a spoon of shredded wheat through her nose wen I left the photos up on the computer, this morning. This shrieks "My God, I Am One DOOMED Flick" in a thousand and one tortured voices. The loose ends on this one are too numerous to really touch on, but what the heck. Things that struck me most were: 1) That unsetlting and really, really unhealthy Pat Boone quality of suddenly-sensitive Freddy. I won't ay "gay," but has anyone ever wondered just who painted the Mystery Machine all purple and green, with those tastefully oversized flowers? Hmm? 2) Velma's thick soled footwear. The original style from the series was clearly the Ultra Nerdette Penny Loafer. Those went out of stuyle around '69, and just _didn't_ have those skyhigh soles. Well, maybe one of the key plot elements this time 'round is that she falls and gets devoured in the opening scene, leading to all sorts of ungodly angst for her vapid little pals. 3) That new, blonde look of "Tough Boots" Daphne. Is this to be a new, ultra-vixen Daph? SEE! Daphne stake each and every rubber-masked terror she encounters, "just in case." REALIZE! That this may well spell considerable legal annoyance as the monsters are, after all, generally clueless thugs who have yet to realize that a real gun with real bullets carries a tad more terror value than a poorly painted WalMart cast-off mask. THRILL! To the lengthy court battle and subsequent life sentences for those zany kids (and their puppy, too)! I find myself hoping for a TRON-ish shock ending as Scoob derezzes in slo mo. Fact it, folks. This may well be the Terrorists' end-game ploy. The JOSIE movie being the opening shot...

They didn't do a bad job with Velma, at least they had the decency to stick with her original outfit and hair. FPJ looks really silly; who the hell thought that one up?? As for the animated Scooby... by FPJ_SUX

I decided to use this opportunity to tell the world what I think of FPJ. FPJ redefines the meaning of the words "NO TALENT ASS CLOWN". If I were trapped on a desert Island, and all I had for "Entertainment" (and I use that term loosely) was Freddie P movies, I would bonk myself in the head with a coconut and then lay in the tide until a shark came along and ate me. I don't know who in GODS name keeps giving this worthless chunk of dung roles, but if they happen to read this PLEASE, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE, we are BEGGING you - DON'T do this to us anymore. Any rational human being would have to agree that continuing to do this is a torture that is inhumane and unwarranted ! I mean, what did we ever do to you ? I would agree to be the official Harry Knowles piss boy if that's what it would take to keep FPJ out of Hollywood. I wouldn't walk across a street to kick this Monkey fart yet some-one keeps casting him in movies and flashing him out to the world like some kid proud of their first crap. "Look Mom, I made a poopie" ought to be tattooed on his head, but like a bad penny - he keeps turning up. This time to defile a cartoon which I admired as a kid. Enough is enough. Turn this undulating pile of vomit out on his keister next time he pops up for a job interview. The public will thank you.

I must say, I didn't picture Shaggy as buffer than Fred. But, hey... I can live with it. I don't mind seeing it done in a different way. This should be an interesting movie. I for one will not base my judgement of the movie on how it compares with the cartoon. But rather I'll base it on the movie itself. Also I won't make any assertians that any of the actors are incapable of playing their roles. For me, jumping to such conclusions would be unfair and close-minded. So my opinions on the look of the characters is now nuetral, and I will come to a conclusion when I see them in action.

It just doesn't look like Scooby. Why change Scooby's look so m

    by Videographer

That CGI thing doesn't look like Scooby Doo. Why change his look so much? Is 'Re-imagining' becoming the code word for 'took-old-stuff-and-at-least-partially-turned-it-into-shit'? Remember the CGI Dino in the Flintstones movies? Looked just like the old Dino, just much more detail. Gave the old character new life. Even if you hated the Flintstones movies, the dino thing worked. This Scooby looks too bland. Were they attempting less cartoonish? More cuddly? Looks like they're getting more miss than hit.

Did anyone watch the original Scooby?

    by JerryFallwell

The original Scooby Doo was written poorly, drawn poorly and it always looked like it was done in a hurry -just a fun childhood memory. Is everyone here expecting a new Gone With the Wind or Maltese Falcon? Yeah, right. This will be the same crap as the summer of '01, like Jeepers Creepers, Hardball, Glitter and Ghost of Mars. More filler.

    Scooby movie

    by gulfshores

I've been a Scooby fan all of my life and I want to know how someone who obviously isn't a Scooby fan can make a movie from the cartoon. Daphne is totally wrong, Freddie is too small and looks like his hair has been dyed blonde (oh,wait...), Velma doesn't look too bad except she's too thin . I don't think Shaggy looks too bad except the hair is wrong. But I don't think Scooby looks right at all. Okay, so he isn't a real dog(just don't tell Scooby that) so they're modeling after a cartoon, but if you can't get the main character to look just right then why make the movie at all? Dump the movie and let us all remember Scooby and the gang just the way we love them!

Did Shaggie realy have that many muscles?

    by The Great Me

I mean Shaggie was a realy skinnie boy in the cartoon! If you ask me,I think the actors who play Fred and Shaggie should trade caractors!Although the only person who even the least bit looks like the caractor is Velma! Who did the casting for this movie?Well who ever it was needs to watch the cartoon a couple more times so he will actualy know what the caractor look like!

    by projectionistXXX

Tell you what...did anybody see SUMMER CATCH? No (put your hand down 13 year old girl, i'm trying to make a point)? It sucked...when will Hollywood learn that Freddy Prinze Jr. is good for one genre...the pre-pubescent sleep-over movie? Hanna-Barbara should be ashamed. ASHAMED!!!!

    the cast!

    by neely

I REALLy think a bunch of unknowns should have played the cast of the new movie. 1st they could have been paid a LOT less, 2nd, Freddie Prinze Jr, and Sara Michelle Gellar??? you've GOT to be kidding!!!! can they NOT do anything w/o being joined at the hip? the dog looks cool, but Shaggy..not so sure. they should have used Christina Ricci as Velma...hello? Velma has curves, and the Velma chic...TOO SKINNY!! Also, fix Shaggs hair, and why are they using a Ford/Chevy van, when everyone knows it was a VW van. how hard could it be to find one. did I hear it was going to be set in present day? what were they thinking?? the cartoon was in the late 60's early 70's..NOT 2001! I really think they could have done a MUCH better job, but I am a HUGE fan, and will go see it anyway!

    the cast...again

    by neely

man! i still can't believe they are using FPJ as Freddie. please, what a BAD choice! SMG? he outfit is all wrong. yeah, she acts like a snooty b*tch, but she is ALL wrong as Daph. Shaggy..where is his facial hair? can dude not grow any? c'mon..the casting agents REALLY screwed up BIG time on making these choices! let ME take over me, it would be 100 times better, and the cast would TRULY resemble the cartoons! I'll still go see it..heck, i'll prob. be the 1st one in line:) they better have some pretty cool chase music though, and not gay-crap, like Smash Mouth, or Sugar Ray!!! OR queen bitch Brittney Queers!!! no one wants Backstreet Boys, or Ricky Martin for chase music EITHER!

    The reason ...?

    by misterobb

A Scooby Doo movie. That's right, peoples. This is the movie all of us intelligent movie goers have been waiting for. Just think ... FPjr, SMG and a CGI DOG in a movie together! That's $9.50 and two hours of your life that the brain surgeons going to see this piece of turd are going to be sacrificing. I really would like to be face-to-face with the professors that actually put money into making this movie. Isn't there some kind of forum where you can challenge some of these dumb ass producers and make them accountable for the dumb ass movies that they make? And just think ... when the general public start rumbling because all their questions from this shit stain on film aren't answered, there'll be brilliant sequel in the works so we can see FPjr and SMG do things to make their characters even MORE interesting.

That pic of Scooby with the meddling kids is not too big. I mean, have you ever been near a Great Dane? They are huge! I once saw one that came up to my chest in height, and I'm 5'5. Most of them are very sweet animals, but they are pretty intimidating.

heres what it all comes down to

    by mr.normal

ok, unlike most people that "post" i hardly hate any movies, and this is my opinion on the scooby bashing. get over it ! its like with X-Men, sure Wolverine was a foot taller than normal, but he was awesome. sure Rogue had a real name and was too young, but she was an oscar winner !. Sometimes you have to think about the ability to act as opposed to looking right., now for all those people bashing FPJ and SMG, its obvius that you are bashing the "popular " and praising the "outcasts". ok , yes, FPJ and ML should not do movies together, and yes FPJ is bland, but he is playing Fred, the most worthless character on the cartoon, why do you hink he was faded out as Scrappy came in, he was dull. Fred and Velma are better dramatic characters, where as Shaggy and Daphne are comedic. as for SMG, yes i love "buffy" she does some great dramatic work there, and some great comedic work, but except for Cruel intentions, no movie has given her chance to shine, in a different role (take not FPJ "different", play a junkie for once), Matthew Lillard, up side ("Hackers",Scream") and bad ("Wing Commander") he can play a possible stoner (this is a PG movie) with his arms tied, buff or not, you can all admit the concept of matthew lillard running around with scooby away from ghosts in live action makes you smile. Linda Cardelinni, right on the money, cause there is no such thing as an ugly character in a movie based on cartoon, but she can handle the velma wit. now should i mention the thing all of you are forgetting here, Rowan "Mr. Bean" Atkinson is playing th cheesy villian, whether or not he has a mask or twp to be ripped off to expected gasping, i thing it will be funny. and you know they will look like they having fun making it since 3 of the 4 are close freinds of a sort, only casting i see as better is Reese Witherspoon as Daphne, her man Ryan Phillippe as Fred, and his pals Breckin Meyer and Seth Green as Shaggy and Scooby, well maybe last bit a stretch, but, with SMG cast maste Alyson Hannigan as velma. OK for my 1st post I have talked alot, but i hope this puts things in perspective.

scooby doo cast and something to say

    by masonireton

Hey they wanted to do this movie I think that they are a good cast and you guys think that linda is a freak, matthew is not the right person for shaggy, prinze jr's hair is bad, gellear sexy, and scooby doo looking like a cgi freak show. Well you know what they made this movie because they wanted to do a sequal to it and they think that its gonna be a huge box office hit.

    by JonnyCinema

Well, judging from the picture of the cast, I'd say that Scooby Doo lovers are going to be in for a big let-down. My biggest problem is with Sarah Michelle Gellar. I mean, what is up with that outfit anyway? Daphne was sexy looking yes but she didn't dress like she was "workin' the street", if you know what I mean. Put some clothes on PLEASE!!! And what is up with Velma's shoes? Can she actually run in those clogs? Oh and Freddie...a little less bryl-cream in the hair, OK?

  • Nov. 18, 2001, 11:44 a.m. CST

    thats wrong, Very wrong

    by Frinkenstein

Who the hell did the casting job. Shaggy is taller than Fred, and he's strong. Why is Velma pretty (although in my opinion she's the closest to the cartoon.) If you're gonna do it with live action (which is a bad idea in the first place)at least make them look good. About a year ago on SNL, Rob Lowe was hosting, and he did this one bit, as shaggy, and he was perfect. He looked like him, he acted like him, he fucking sounded like him. So to summarize, keep velma & scooby, get Rob Lowe as Shaggy, and just completely redo fred & Daphne.

    scooby doo

    by kuteangel

wells....even though I havent seen the new scooby doo movie yet, but it seems kind of interesting. The only part of the movie that seems kind of wierd is Scooby Doo, the dog. He looks ind of fake. Fred(Freddie Prinze Jr.)'s clothes seems very similar to the cartoon one since I use to eatch Scooby Doo all the time. But Sarah Michelle Geller's clothes is just ugly, i don't think that she can even act. The person acting shaggy seems too HUGE....looks so funny and wierd

  • Dec. 2, 2001, 3:23 p.m. CST

    seems interesting!!!

    by shelly111

in mah opinion, this movie look cool! i use tah watch scooby all the time. I will surely bethere to watch this movie when it comes out. A few thngs seem to be not right in the movie. Firstly, what is wrong with Sarah Michelle Geller?? I can't believe people actually chose her as daphane!! The way she is dressed is just not right! and plsu Shaggy is suppose to be soo skinny, but the actor for shaggy in this movie is soo fat and ugly, even though shaggy is ugly in the cartoon anyways. Well Fred, freddie prinze junior seem like he is kind of the normal one in the movie. and velma seems normal too and similar to the cartoon. Those two are th only ppl that actually seem normal in the movie. even though so many people say that fred prinze jr. cant act, but i can't really tell whether he can or not. the only part i hate so nuch bout the movie is shaggy, the fat one!!

everyone is talkin bout the newly cominh out scooby doo movie, and i myself find it kind of good, just by lookin at the poster. Just don't like the scooby doo doll....wat is even wrong with it?? it looks like one of those ugly hard furry dolls. The actors in the movie is also ridicilous. Shaggy is known as being skinny, but it don't look like he is skinny to me anymore according to the movie!! But i do like the way how fred is dressed and sarah too! they both look cute together in tbe movie. Since they look cute together, that is why i am planning to watch the movie, but one thng bout freddie, his hair is a mess, but he is a okay actor i guess. Velma is not very pretty in the movie, but she is not suppose to be anyways. I think that she is the closest looking one to the movie. This movie mght turn out kind of funny, with a ugly shaggy and a fake dog...!!

    Lay off Sarah Michelle Geller!!!!

    by architectjunky

Leave her alone!!! Okay, I admit that she may not look the part of Daphne, but I think she can pull it off. You people are all WAY too critical and frankly, very two-dimensional to weigh your whole opinion of a movie on what the characters look like. Everybody bitched about Tom Cruise in Interview With the Vampire because he didn't LOOk like Lestat, and he turned out to be WONDERFUL! You guys are OBSESSED with type-casting. Get over it. And okay, the costumes are different. This is the 21st Century, and who said that the movie had to take place in F**king 1975!?! And quit calling Sarah a $10 whore! She didn't pick out the costumes!!!! Oh, but I do think Freddie Prinze Jr. is an assclown!!!

Being an obsessed fan of Scooby Doo since I was a kid, I can't help but to be pumped for this release. I am however not so impressed with the way that Scooby is looking, nor with the characters. But I'm not going to knock it untill I've seen it on the big screen. Just give it a chance, that's all I say.

    Scooby cast

    by amazon1225

Is it just me or does Sara Michelle Geller look like the real Aaron Brokavich. Yes she does. It will probaly win 10 oscars. But I have three other cast I'd rather use. Number 1 Cast Shaggy - Brad Pitt Velma - Rachel Leah Cook Dafney- Terry Reid Fred - Freddie Prince Jr Mary Jane - Jenifer Anston Montavarious - George Clooney Parents- Mr Rogers - Ron Howard Mrs Roger - Cheryl Ladd Mrs Dinkley - Sally Field Mr Dinkley - Tony Danza Mrs Blake - Heather Locklear Mr Blake - Ray Romano Mr Jones - Mel Gibson Mrs Jones - Jodie foster Cast # 2 Number 2 Cast Shaggy - Keanu Reves Velma - Sandra Bullock Dafney- Cameron Diaz Fred - Mark Walberg Mary Jane - Chalize Throne Montavarious - Tom Cruise Parents- Mr Rogers - Al Pacino Mrs Roger - Sharon Stone Mrs Dinkley - Sigourney Weaver Mr Dinkley - Robert Deniro Mrs Blake - Kim Basinger Mr Blake - Sylvester stallone Mr Jones - Alec Baldwin Mrs Jones - Michelle Pieffer Number 3 Cast Shaggy - Colin Hanks Velma - Natalie Portland Dafney- Kristin Dunst Fred - Josh Hardnick Mary Jane - ?????? Montavarious - John travolta Parents- Mr Rogers - Tom Hankd Mrs Roger - ????? Mrs Dinkley - Carrie Fisher Mr Dinkley - ?????? Mrs Blake - Meg Ryan Mr Blake - ??????? Mr Jones - Tom cruise Mrs Jones - ???? For the cast they have now this movie, especially with Gellar is going to be the worst movie ever.

    Shudder at the thought

    by SavageLucy42

I'm scared. Scooby looks awesome, as do the costumes, but the actors cast are all wrong. I can't stand Sarah Michelle or Freddie Prinze Jr. And Mathew Lillar doesn't look a thing like shaggy... Very sad. Velma looks okay though... This coulda been such a great movie, but I'll wait to see it to judge.
