More On Jeunet And TINTIN!!
Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.
So first a TalkBacker named FaceFlusher said the TINTIN story was false:
Hey. French guy here, I was in Deauville for the American Film Festival that takes place there every year, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet was one of the members of the jury this time. It's not a big festival. What I mean is, it's not Cannes. So you can approach the celebrities more easily, and so we did. Having been intrigued by that same news in french Premiere, we managed to ask Jeunet if any of it was true. Question to which he answered (litterally) : It's nonsense. I personnally would very much like to see Tinitin adapted on the big screen but it's probably one of the most difficult stuff to adapt. Just like Astérix. Look at the movie that came out a couple of years ago. It was...ugly. Over.
But then I got this letter from a fellow journo in Germany:
Dear Moriarty:
We haven't been in touch before, so let me just introduce myself:
I'm a German film reporter, working for some high-profile outlets here. Among others I'm handling the film section of GQ Germany.
Some weeks ago I did an interview with Jeunet in Munich, and yes, I can
confirm, he is considering Tintin as a potential project. Literally he said:
"I am thinking about Tintin, but it's very complicated". He also noted that
this would be a live-action movie.
Keep up the great work.
Best wishes
Rudy
Okay... works for me. One other Talk Backer took the time to send me a fun e-mail. I didn't realize there had been TINTIN movies before. Never seen a frame of one. Now I'm curious and will be searching...
Hey Moriarty,
I just posted a talkback on the Tintin movie article. It was about a sixties real-action Tintin flick, check it out. Well anyway, just found a link with a little more info on the movie:
Don't know if you or Harry already knew about this but maybe something to
search out.. although I think apart from the characters and atmosphere it
had little to do with the comics (Hergé had nothing to do with the scenario,
apparently). Still, I remember seeing it when I was eight or something
(already a big Tintin freak- I used to ask my mom to cut my hair
Tintin-style!) and it's probably fun enough to just see all the characters
in real live action.. as I mentioned in the TB I had a picture 'book of the
movie' at the time, it should be on the attic at my parent's place
somewhere..
Always nice to see a national pride in the news, especially if it's Cool
News ;-)
Hope this can be of interest to you,
greets
Pelvis Restley
