Quentin Tarantino in France Shooting WWII flick allegedly called GLORIOUS BASTARDS'

Hey folks, Harry here.... I've been seeing all sorts of talk about Quentin Tarantino and his alleged future film directing directions at the moment. Dark Horizons is running a story, which references UK tabloid THE GUARDIAN, New York tabloid the NEW YORK POST and the New York Magazine... that Quentin is currently in France shooting his WWII film which they're calling GLORIOUS BASTARDS.... and that he's currently working on the screenplay to THE VEGA BROTHERS.

Well, about a week ago I was drinking a Crown and Coke and Quentin was having a Screwdriver here in Austin, Texas at the TEXAS FILMMAKERS HALL OF FAME awards kicking of South By Southwest. We were talking everything from the dear place in his heart for GARBAGE PAIL KIDS THE MOVIE to the history of Chris Mitchum to the glory of SEVEN BLOWS OF THE DRAGON to the ABC broadcast version of SUPERMAN THE MOVIE and how he's finally come into owning a crisp beautiful 35mm print of ROLLING THUNDER after a near decade of searching...

Now I bring all this up, cuz by the time he got to ROLLING THUNDER he said that it would definitely be a part of QT5 here in Austin.... The Fifth Quentin Tarantino Film Festival, which would be extremely heavy on REVENGE flicks given that the film he is CURRENTLY writing is the Uma flick (aka KILL BILL) which he plans to shoot this Fall. He called this his next film... And certainly while we talked for 2 hours he never brought up the WWII flick, which... Now... who knows, maybe he's keeping it way below radar... and as much as my heart wants to believe that, and to believe that it is titled GLORIOUS BASTARDS... Quentin left Austin to return to Los Angeles.... not France. And has anyone heard of Adam Sandler signing or flying to France yet? Cuz he apparently has a role in this flick that... well... He's still shooting with Paul Thomas Anderson.

As for information about the WWII flick, AICN had an exclusive interview between our trusty crusty seaman QUINT and Tarantino back in September of last year (CLICK HERE TO READ THE WHOLE INTERVIEW), but this is what Tarantino had to say about the film... We'll be following up to see if there is any truth to these France rumors.... Edgard and the Euro Team will definitely know before the rest of us... They's the shit!!! Here's the excerpt from Quint's interview....

SINCE WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SANDLER, I HAVE TO ASK ABOUT THE WORLD WAR II FLICK THAT YOU1RE DOING.

Well, I’ve been writing a World War II film for the last year and half. Actually, I’ve been writing it for the last year and researching it for the half a year before that. I’ve taken college courses on World War II. I’ve been writing and yeah I do have a part that would be great for Adam, just fantastic. So, yeah, we’re going to do it when I’m finished with it.

I ALSO HEARD RUMOR THAT MICHAEL MADSEN MIGHT BE INVOLVED...

Yeah! Where’d you hear that from?

I HAVE MY WAYS... YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW THEM, BUT I HAVE MY WAYS.

Yeah, it’s true. Michael would be... oh yeah.... I’ve got a great part for Michael in it. As a matter of fact, the part I want Michael to play... OK. I wanna have a Charles Bronson kind of guy in the movie, BUT it’s not like writing a part for Charles Bronson and trying to get an actor to be like Charles Bronson. No. The kind of part Charles Bronson would play in a movie like this. Not the ‘70s where Charles Bronson was the star, but the kind of Charles Bronson played in The Great Escape. The kind of part he got cast in in The Magnificent Seven, the kind of part he got cast in in The Dirty Dozen. The kind of part he got cast in in all these big, ensemble mean muthafuckin’ guy movies.

Michael Madsen could have got cast in any one of those roles. Not the Bronson roles where Bronson was the star, but the roles of ‘60s, Michael Madsen could have been cast in any one of those that he was in back then. In fact, I’d probably cast Michael Madsen in the Bronson role before I’d cast him in the Steve McQueen role, even though you might see more a connection between one than the other, but do you know what I mean?

YEAH, TOTALLY. THE PERSONALITY AND THE FEEL HE HAS.

And that great sense of violence about Michael. He could go all the way. Charles Bronson’s real name is Buchinsky, so I decided to just give a tribute to him, I’m naming Michael’s character that he’s playing in the movie Babe Buchinsky.

ROCK ON. I WAS HEARING IT WAS GOING TO BE KINDA LIKE GUNS OF NAVARONE MEETS DIRTY DOZEN...

The story line isn’t anything like any of those, not much. It’s a bunch of guys on a mission, but not like a handpicked... a bunch of guys thrown into this situation and having to deal with it.

SO MORE LIKE ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, THEN.

No, no. No, like the Dirty Dozen. They’re on their way to be executed, all right and they get this reprieve kind of situation. Stuff like that. Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II
