HERC Reviews ROSWELL 2.12!!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

Ah, it's good to be back at the Moriarty Labs. I didn't think my feet would ever be warm again. Now, as I sort through the accumulated e-mail from the past 10 days, I see that HERCULES THE STRONG has sent in a look at tomorrow night's ROSWELL, gathered with his alien engineered device known only as... Mr. Pointy. Clue us in, Herc. What's going on out there in the desert?

ROSWELL 2.12 FAQ

WHAT’S IT CALLED?

“We Are Family.”

WHO’S REPSONSIBLE?

Teleplay is credited to series co-producers Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts (they also co-wrote Warner Bros.’ upcoming David Boreanaz movie “Valentine”).

WHAT DOES TV GUIDE SAY?

“A judge suspends Sheriff Valenti for his actions during the investigation of a missing girl. Valenti’s authority is then partially restored by an FBI agent who requires his assistance.”

ANY GOOD?

Another typically solid season-two installment. No big laughs, but we do get compelling character development (especially in Jim, Tess and Kyle) and loads of intriguing plot twists.

THE BIG NEWS?

2.12 features a series-rattling conclusion -- designed to make us rethink what we thought we knew about the aliens.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE JIM TO HOOK UP WITH THE FBI?

About ten seconds. He’s suspended before the titles and hooks up with the bureau in the opening minutes of the first act.

DOES THE FBI SEND JOHN DOGGETT, CHESTER DESMOND OR PHILLIP JEFFRIES?

Try Coco from TV’s “Fame.” Erica Gimpel plays hot young special agent Suzanne Duff. It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot more of her. Tre jolie, Coco! Tre jolie!

WHO WAS THAT GIRL JIM, ISABEL AND MAX PULLED OUT OF THE GROUND AT THE END OF THE LAST EPISODE?

Her name is Laurie Dupree. “Her last address was the Pinecrest Psychiatric Hospital in Brownsfield, Texas,” Valenti reads from a file. “Paranoid schizophrenic. No parents or guardians on record, and she ran away from there one week before the kidnapping.” We’d learn more, but Laurie escapes from her hospital room before the title credits.

DOES LAURIE TURN UP AGAIN BEFORE THE EPISODE’S CONCLUSION?

Yes.

DO WE LEARN WHY LAURIE WAS BURIED?

No.

IS DREAMY GEOLOGIST GRANT SORENSON CAPTURED?

Nope. He’s MIA this week.

DO WE LEARN WHY ISABEL SAID “IT’S LIKE I KNOW HER” AT THE END OF LAST EPISODE?

We get clues.

WHAT ISN’T TV GUIDE TELLING US?

Michael quickly discovers something was buried beside Laurie.

WHAT?

Uncertain. At first it looks like a chunk of Kryptonite, but it’s actually more like glowing lime Jello.

IS SEAN DELUCA BACK?

He is, and Devon Gummersall’s low-key take on the character continues to amuse and impress. The interest the former jailbird continues to exhibit in Liz also serves to clarify the status of Liz’s relationship with Max.

WHY DIDN’T WE SEE THAT NICE HANKS BOY LAST WEEK?

Alex Whitman was vacationing, boarding with a foster family in Stockholm for a month. He returns with photos of a new romantic interest.

DOES KYLE OR LIZ EXHIBIT ANY SUPERPOWERS THIS WEEK?

No.

ANY SIGN OF SKINS, DUPES OR BRODY DAVIS?

No.

IS JIM VALENTI REINSTATED BY EPISODE’S END?

No.

WAS THERE A REASON WE BARELY SAW MICHAEL LAST WEEK?

Yes.
