Hey folks, Harry here... DAMN... I'm getting really really fired up. You see.... it is BUTT-NUMB-A-THON time again, and man... I swear the last one felt like it was a week ago... and if the past year has past so quickly... imagine how fast this next year will past... and when it comes time for BUTT-NUMB-A-THON 3.... Why, immediately afterwards, I imagine it'll be time to start getting in line for our first installment in Peter Jackson's rendition of Tolkein's LORD OF THE RINGS.... Oh giddy joy. We are about a month away from the first theatrical trailer.... Which means we are 2 months away from the inevitable SUPER BOWL spot.... after that it'll probably be about 4 months to the first full fledged trailer..... then we'll be about 4 months away from the second major trailer.... then 2 months from the Television spots... the posters on the sides of buildings, throughout all of this magazine covers, photospreads of effects behind the scenes... Interviews, rumblings.... Anticipation, fevered late night chat sessions and drunken blathering conversations amongst friends... A re-read of the books... Endless personal doodles... Scanning in photos and making more wallpapers and screensavers.... Then... about a month before hand.... we all begin foaming at the mouth.... We'll see the new Coen brother film, we'll attend the HARRY POTTER film.... and we'll be thinking... LORD OF THE RINGS... LORD OF THE RINGS... LORD OF THE RINGS....

2 weeks before, Toy Biz begins hitting the toy shelves with action figures, we begin bitching and moaning about why LORD OF THE RINGS' toy rights didn't go to McFarlane... People begin using the word, "Playability"

At the same time We all begin losing control... you'll feel an electricity... a sense of on-coming wonder... Zealots like me write more pieces like this.... and suddenly... It is here. It is here and we..... react.

Will it be stunned silence and awe? Will it end with thunderous orgasmic screams and applause? Will the second week bring out the folks in costumes? That night.... will you return home and look at the calendar and say, "How can I wait another year?" Plans for the following year's Halloween costume begin.

I'm dying. With every interview.... every picture.... every word I hear leak through the cracks.... I get more excited. Ahhhh.... I love all this stuff... the anticipation, the uncertainty, the dream of it all and the nightmare as well... I wonder, is it the same for Peter Jackson?

Well.... Here is an interview with Peter Jackson that again shows how cool and calm and zen-ed out he seems. When asked about how much pressure this is upon his career.... He just shrugs it off as not being about having a career, he's just been making movies since he was a kid and he loves doing it. Oh yeah.... And again we hear about a small intimate New Zealand film to shoot after he's finished LOTR.... Oh please.... BAD TASTE 2 or A FEEBLE SANATARIUM or KING KONG... hhehehehe.... That's an intimate film.... No no... it is, no really.... really it is. Or how about, a film about the Motorcycle Guys that got beaten to death in NZ way back when THE WILD ONE hit Kiwi shores... I don't know, but whatever it may be.... I will be there to see it. Especially if it is called, "DEREKS NEVER QUIT"!!!!!
