YIPEE! Folks... many of you are asleep right now... unaware of this maelstorm of coolness that Ang Lee is going to open up on your ass later this year. From all accounts I've heard... this is it... this is that KUNG FU FANTASY FLICK... that has 100% REAL EMOTIONAL FEELING AND ACTING... that this is that type of film that comes along and changes the way a genre is thought of. The way folks are talking... this is a legitimate badass action flick with very real odds to get nominated for awards (select the institution of your choice). Well, if that be so, then in the tradition of action spectacles.. there must be more to the series... Characters that existed before... what came of them after... and according to our spy in China below... SUch an announcement has been made... and only just at that. Folks... I'm dying to see this thing... is it really all that... Word from the highest authorities on Hong Kong and Kung Fu cinema are telling me that this is the best martial arts work captured on film... at a level allegedly exceding IRON MONKEY, but with a script and actors to boot... BE VERY EXCITED... a storm is coming... below this article I have a review... one from HONG KONG... keep em coming my Far East friends... let the world know what is coming!

Ang Lee has announced Sequel and Prequel of CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON

Hi Harry,

I am Ye

According to an article from today (July 6th)’s Life Daily in China, there will be a sequel and a prequel of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Here is the translation of this article:

There Will Be Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Prequel

By Wang Shang

Since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’s success at the Cannes Film Festival in May, film critics and fans from many counties have suggested Ang Lee to shoot a sequel. Yesterday, Lee finally agreed with this suggestion. Being excited, Lee said, not only a sequel, I also plan to shoot a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Prequel.

(Warning: if you don’t want to know the ending of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, don’t read the following.)

The ending of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is: Jen (Zhang ziyi) jumped off the cliff for love, beau Lo (Chang Chen), who had falled in love with Jen, started to cry; meanwhile, there was nothing but dense fog under the cliff, an open ending was left.

(Warning ended)

Lee said, actually, Wang Dulu’s original novel has 5 episodes and he only shot the 4th episode. Yesterday, during a whole day talk with the producer Xu Ligong, Xu had continuously persuaded me. He told me that good words about the movie have been spread out, so finance will not be a problem. Lee has changed his decision of never shoot big headache martial art movie again. Lee and Xu will co-write the sequel and planed a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Prequel, like the Star War Prequels.

And now for a review from HONG KONG, where... according to our agent in the crowds... it stunned the audiences into silence and awe and applause. "BEST KUNG FU FILM EVER" are mentioned... as well as the possibility that it could very well be one of the greatest films of all time. Hyperbole... well before you start belching your bullshit below... remember... SO FAR... EVERYONE HAS BEEN USING THIS TYPE OF HYPERBOLE THAT HAS SEEN THE FILM AND WRITTEN. This reviewer was left shocked and numb. He loved it... and the word is now International... from Cannes to TIME to Hong Kong...

Hi Harry,

Beige Babapapa here from Hongkers .... CTHD has just opened today in HK and judging by the queues people have been waiting for this. Now before I go over old ground, I thought I'd write as a first time reviewer, so please excuse the amateurness(sp?) of the prose ....

Well, I am shocked....numb...over what I have just seen. I had a feeling it would be good, but not to that degree. It's a conundrum. you know how to make .the stew .... you know what ingredients are in it, yet it never tastes as good as your mums or grandma's. You have the 2 Chinese actors, a good director and a script of chop-socky ....so sounds like the normal ??? NOOOOOOO... this is a beautiful film, rich in texture and substance and with the age old elements of unrequited love, forbidden love, betrayal, honour, vengeance and good old arse kicking ....

This is no ordinary kung-fu flick. This is a labour of love from Ang Lee, and he is aided in this by the 2 best Chinese actors working today, and a stunning turn from an up and coming actress .....Ziyi Zhang or "little Gong-Li" as she is now being referred to as .....

Enough of my banter ...... this is possibly the greatest Kung-Fu film ever made ...forget the Kitschness of Enter the Dragon, or the raw quirkiness of the early Shaw Bros ...this is a KFu film with soul and heart .... a story with actual acting where the KFu is not the main focus. Not the broken acting or cheap scenery you maybe used to, and don't get me wrong I love that shit, but this inhabits a different planet.

The backdrops and settings are awesome, and the stunts and fight scenes are as good as you've seen ....the audience ...who take chop-socky as second nature, and openly laughed at Romeo Must Die thinking it was an outright comedy .... gasped and fell silent at moments, not quite able to take in what they were witnessing ....a true mark of respect.

It begins with Fat and Yeoh talking over tea .... there is something unspoken between them but you can't quite make it out ....yet. He has asked her to take a sword to a friend of theirs, but this is no ordinary sword though ...this is "The Sword" (you'll know it when you see it) which acts as a catalyst to draw the main charachters together...basically it all kicks off from here ...she takes the sword, the sword gets stolen by a masked "thief" with a style of Kung-fu only shown to a select few. the thief is unmasked and other tales are woven in ......

What follows is a meandering story of love and death. This film has it all ...

I don't want to write too much, or add spoilers, I just want to share this experience and perhaps wet your appetites for what you arte about to receive ..... the greatest Kung Fu film ever ????? ....NO ......one of the greatest films ever ......my film of the year by a country mile ....someday all films will be made this way ......
