Special Latin AICN Report: Wanna know what JURASSIC PARK 3 is about'

Hey folks, Harry here. While I was on that Floating Film Festival with Dusty, the Dude, Ebert and Corliss and the rest of the Floaters... I was cultivating spies throughout South America. But in Costa Rica, I planted extra seeds. You see, El Tico was given a crash course in spying. All the secrets like, reading your local paper. Print a shirt with the word "CREW" on the back in white letters against a black shirt. Carry two sandbags and you can walk into any set. Well, El Tico was in deep cover awaiting his 'Red Queen' to pop into service. And seeing the pre-programmed words... JURASSIC PARK 3... did it. From the sounds of things, this is going to be far more action orientated and violent. I mean... set locations like Hospitals, Morgues? Doesn't that denote BITINGS and DEATHS? Well... stay tuned, I'm sure we'll be hearing more from LATIN AMERICA and our spies like Lobo , Ulysses and the infamous COFFIN JOE!!! Remember folks, these guys are our eyes and ears in this grand area of the world. If you hear of ANYTHING headed in that direction... drop them a note so they can put it on their regular Tuesday morning column!

Hi Harry

Long time reader El Tico here. Probably you remember me, we actually met for a couple of hours here in Costa Rica right at the end of your trip of floating Film Festival.

I just read an interesting article that appeared on La Nacion, the biggest local newspaper, about Jurasic Park 3 and location filming in Costa Rica.

The article is an interview with Luis Jimenez, a Costa Rican working as an advisor on JP3. According to him the script has the dinosaurs showing up and wreaking havoc on the Costa Rican mainland. He maintained that the script is constantly going through many changes. His job is to get them photo documentation of the airport, one of our biggest hopitals, the morgue, police uniforms, ambulances, police cars, churches, etc. and other stuff on Costa Rica.

He says that probably only second unit stuff would be done on location. According to him Kathleen Kennedy said that her experience filming Congo here was problematic because of the constant rain (that’s probably because they were filming in the RAINforest) and some trouble getting the equipment through customs cause the officials though they were here to sell it! (I can believe that one.)

He mentions that principal photography starts in mid june in Hawaii and the scenes that take place on the Costa Rican mainland on August 14. A small city would be built on Universal Studios. On the first movie the only scene showing our capital city was when “Newman” was selling the embryos and it only showed was a small shabby seaside town! (Costa Ricans didn’t feel insulted in anyway, it was actually the biggest laugh we got from the movie) As you saw it yourself San Jose, our capital city, holds more that one million persons!

The only aspect that I hope they get right is that they don’t show a Costa Rican army since we don't have one! The military were abolished back in the late forties making Costa Rica one of the 5 countries in the world that doesn’t have an army! As for the rest I really don’t care that they get Costa Rica right, all I hope for is that Joe Johnston makes a movie that does kick some serious ass.

Pura Vida!
