Hey folks, Harry here. The following story was WRONG. Both me and The Hollywood Reporter got our facts screwed up, but here is the truth to the matter. In the last 72 hours I have heard 3 different directors for this remake of DEATH RACE 2000. First, it was Paul Verhoeven, which I now know was a misunderstanding between me and my source (someone involved in the film). Specifically, I said, "Gosh who's directing it... Paul Verhoeven?" and right as I said Paul, the source (extremely high up) started laughing and didn't hear the Verhoeven. Then seemed shocked that I 'guessed' it. Well, I held the story for a couple of days... Went to run it, when I saw the Hollywood Reporter's story saying that Paul Thomas Anderson was directing. Now, as excited as I was about Paul Verhoeven... Paul Thomas Anderson really got me jonesed for the project. But now it has been made VERY CLEAR by a good dozen or so sources that Paul Thomas Anderson is not involved, but rather... Paul Anderson, director of EVENT HORIZON, MORTAL KOMBAT and SOLDIER. I loathe those three films as movies that put style over substance, that personify the lack of humanity and soul in film. I hate those three movies completely. And I am completely and 100% unexcited about DEATH RACE 3000. I wish them the best of luck. I want Paul Anderson to magically become a real director instead of the wooden one he's been thus far. But I'd like to apologize to you fans that may have, for a brief amount of time been excited about this project. Currently... I am not.

Ya know, In a million years I don't expect you to believe this story but... Ya know, it happens to be true. It seems that some time back, I hear around 8 months ago, Tom Cruise acquired the rights to remake DEATH RACE 2000. And then a little birdy told me that he wants Paul Thomas Anderson to direct it, while Tom produces, but doesn't star in it.

Now folks, I don't know about you, but the mere concept of what would happen if Anderson and DEATH RACE 2000 should ever actually make it to screen... Ahhhhhh god, that'd be soooo cool. The word is that they have talked, but that no DEAL has been cemented as of yet. They are 'exploring' the concept at the moment.

Just imagine an Unrated Paul DEATH RACE 2000 movie. It'd be gloriously anti-MPAA. Be assured that I'm keeping my eye on this project... It's got my curiousity roaring for info. SO if you have any... let me know!

WHOA! THat is weirrrrrd! No sooner do I post this story up than, I go over to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER and... there in all it's glory is a story reporting the same darn thing! How friggin weird is that?!?!? They did have additional details though... That it is being called DEATH RACE 3000 and is being written by J.F. LAWTON. Sigh... Oh well... I'm still excited!
