TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello has much cool casting news in his weekly Q&A column.
1) Veronica Mars is a freshman at Heart College this season, so “Veronica Mars” has cast newspaper heiress, kipnap victim and John Waters fave Patty Hearst - granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst and great-granddaughter of George Hearst - as the granddaughter of the founder of Hearst College. But she does not play herself!
2) Joining “Veronica Mars” in a recurring role is Laura San Giacomo, who played a love interest for Enrico Colantoni’s character on the sitcom “Just Shoot Me.” She will now play a (married) potential love interest for Colantoni’s Keith Mars.
3) “The Unit” co-creator Shawn Ryan, who wrote five early episodes of Joss Whedon’s “Angel” before he created “The Shield,” originally cast “Angel’s” Amy Acker as new recruit Scott Foley’s wife on “The Unit” (but recast the role before the series aired). Now Ryan has cast Whedon’s “Firefly”/“Serenity” star Summer Glau as the wife of a newer recruit.
