John McClane returning in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... I love me my DIE HARD films. Even DIE HARD 2. I even have that neato Neca John McClane action figure posed on top of my DVD shelf. But even I will admit that LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD is an awful title. However, people will just call it DIE HARD 4 anyway. I mean, DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER is pretty awful, too... and come to think of it... DIE HARD WITH A VENGEANCE isn't a great title either.

I don't get a good vibe off this project for some reason. I don't know what it is. I trust Bruce Willis in the role. I like the idea of another McClane outting, but the more I hear about this movie, the less it feels like a DIE HARD film to me.

Len Wiseman (UNDERWORLD flicks) is directing and has talked to USA Today about the film. He says that no other cast members are returning, no other characters from previous films... meaning no Sgt. Al Powell making a triumphant return, Twinkie in hand. That sucks. And the fact that McClane is going up against "techno-terrorists" trying to shut down the nation's computer systems doesn't sit well with me.

I'm still going to hope for the best. The last thing in the world I want to see is a bad DIE HARD movie. The flick will start shooting soon and will go up against TRANSFORMERS and RATATOUILLE in 2007's Fourth of July weekend, I guess taking the spot Fox had set aside for FANTASTIC FOUR 2. Fingers crossed...
