J.J. Abrams on LOST 3.X: 'I'm Planning On Writing Some'!!

I am – Hercules!!

It’s a TV Guide made for ComicCon week!!

TV Guide’s dreamy Shawna Malcom (whom I actually met for the first time at a “Lost” event in Hawaii last summer) conducted an interview with “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams that wound up in my mailbox and likely the mailboxes of many another TV Guide subscriber today.

Abrams, who co-wrote and directed “Lost’s” hilarious and heartbreaking and terrifying pilot about two years ago, has previously spoken of directing an episode of “Lost’s” third season. But in his interview with Malcom, he says he’ll be back to scripting too!!!:

I definitely look to be more involved this season, certainly more than I was last season [when directing “Mission: Impossible III”]. I look forward to directing an episode and I’m planning on writing some.

Abrams hasn’t officially (and maybe unofficially) written a “Lost” episode since the pilot. He also told Malcom that Swan Station Boy Desmond lives.

What Abrams wouldn’t really talk about (despite the claim on TV Guide’s cover) is the new “Star Trek” he plans to direct for Paramount. He wouldn’t even confirm Variety’s story that the film would be about Kirk and Spock’s early days. (Though he does note at some point that the original Kirk/Spock series was his favorite of the Treks.)

There’s also this bit on page 24 from Terry O’Quinn:

I miss that first-season Locke, who hunted boar and had the answers. I don’t know where he went, but I miss him and I hope he comes back.

I encourage all geeks to pick up the TV Guide with (among other things) Jim Kirk and Mister Spock on the cover. It has loads of scoop on:
* Battlestar Galactica (one of the 12 models will die permanently; a “pretty significant” human – Herc’s guessing Helo or Tyrol - dies in 3.3);
* Blade (Krista “explores her attraction to Marcus”);
* The Dead Zone (Stillson gets closer to the White House);
* Eureka (the new sheriff gets in a love triangle);
* The 4400 (Collier claims to have come back from the future);
* Hex (lesbian ghosts);
* Smallville (archery boy Ollie Queen – played by the blonde guy who almost played A.C. on the CW’s aborted “@qu@m@n” series - wants the Kentster to join his new a league of justice!);
* Stargate (SG1/Atlantis crossover);
* Supernatural (everyone survives);
* Who Wants To Be A Superhero? (evildoers are vanquished).

Plus “Lost” showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse talk about “The Twilight Zone,” “Star Trek,” “The Prisoner” and “Star Wars.” There’s also a bit about Adam Brody creating a comic book – just like his character on “The O.C.” did! … the hell … And Brannon Braga reveals where CBS’ “Theshold" would have gone had it not been cancelled.

Out Now!! Before "Lost," Carlton Cuse masterminded The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.: The Complete Series

Also Out Now!! * Amazing Stories: The Complete First Season * Avatar: The Last Airbender Book One Volume 4 * Carnivale: The Complete Second Season * The Incredible Hulk: The Complete First Season * Jack of All Trades: The Complete Series * The New Adventures of Flash Gordon: The Complete Series * The Pee-Wee Herman Show * Ren & Stimpy: The Lost Episodes * Ultraman Vol. 1
