Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an update for all us Luc Besson fans out there. His 3-D animated flick ARTHUR AND THE MINIMOYS has found a home with The Weinstein Co. I've been a little hard on the boys in the past, but I can't deny their desire to work with and support real talents in the business. Besson is one of those people... Now if only they'd release ANGEL-A here in the states, too...
Anyway, for those that don't know, ARTHUR is based on a popular French children's book about a 10 year old (played by Freddie Highmore in the movie) who tries to save the home of his grandmother (Mia Farrow) by finding a treasure hidden by his grandfather in the land of the little buggers called Mimimoys. I think David Bowie voices the bad guy, too... which makes me happy. Bowie the villain in a kid's fantasy movie again? Count me in.
No release date has been announced, but I think they're still completing the movie. I'm sure we'll hear soon when the Brothers Weinstein plan on unleashed Besson's whacked out kid's flick on us.
