Them Duke Boys sure entertained the troops! DUKES OF HAZZARD reviewed!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with an early review from one of our boys in camo with a review from a USO screening of THE DUKES OF HAZZARD! I missed the hey day of DUKES... of course I know of it and have seen many episodes, but I'm not a true blue fan... I'm actually more of a fan of the Broken Lizard guys, so I'm really expecting to dig the hell out of this movie. I see it on Monday, so I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts then, but in the mean time this outta hold you over. Spoilers below!

Hey Harry, got to see a pre-screening of Dukes of Hazzard last night at a USO event in Georgia. Guests were able to talk to the cast, director and producer of the movie. Jessica Simpson, Johnny Knoxville, and Shawn William Scott were all there to entertain the troops.

First off, this isn’t the Dukes of the old show. It has been modernized for today’s audiences. The movie starts out with the Duke boys delivering moonshine for Uncle Jesse played by Willey Nelson. Bo ( Johnny) starts getting busy with the farmers daughter until the farmer and his son get back from hunting with their shotguns. This is where it gets interesting; the Dukes jump into the General Lee and take off with Dad and brother farmer in tow. I might mention that the General doesn’t look like it did in the show until later. You get to see the first chase seen in the movie with the brother shooting at the Dukes while in hot pursuit. Needless to say the Dukes get away when they jump a washed out bridge. I have to say that the jump scenes have got to be some of the best I have seen, even better than Gone in 60 Seconds.

Once the Dukes land they end up getting stuck between some construction equipment and have to hoof it back to the Boar’s Nest where we finally get to see our first glimpse of Daisy. Jessica Simpson can only be described as one word, HOT! Once you see her in those tight, short shorts you will be hooked for the rest of the movie just for more skin shots. There ends up being a big brawl after some things are said to Luke (Shawn William Scott) about him shuckin’ Daisy’s corn. Needless to say Sheriff Roscoe shows up and tells the boys he has “fixed” their car.

We next see Daisy, Bo, Luke, and Cooter in the garage with the General Lee totally trashed. The whole story is about Boss Hogg trying to strip mine Hazzard County and having a race to keep everyone occupied so they can’t voice their objection; Luke is supposed to race the General there and is totally pissed about what happened to it. Cooter thinks he’s crazy for wanting the car back in running order by the race on Saturday. Needless to say the boys investigate the construction site for the mine and Cooter calls in backup to get the General up and running.

The boys get a core sample and have to take it to the University in Atlanta, so they go back to Cooter’s to find that he has the General looking like new with all the original paint and bodywork as on the series. Sheriff Roscoe is waiting for them outside when they come racing out of the garage and the camera does a slow motion pass by of the General in all his glory. I just have to say that from here on the action just gets better and better. The chase scenes are just sick.

Most of the chase scenes and race scenes take place in the country, but the best out of all of them has got to be the chase scene with the Dukes in Atlanta being chased by the city police and arguing about a girl Bo slept with and Luke liked. The boys are racing through the streets with the General going sideways the whole time, just amazing how they filmed this. The end of the chase scene is the preview on the television of the general flying through the air onto the interstate.

Needless to say the Duke Boys save the day, Boss Hogg has some explaining to do and Daisy is HOT! Johnny Knoxville and Shawn William Scott add humor to the movie that had the audience rolling during the whole film. The scenes with Jessica Simpson had all the men hooting and hollering, especially the scene where she takes off her coat and is wearing nothing but a string bikini underneath. I can’t forget to mention the shower scene either. This has got to be the best action, comedy, and downright fun movie that has come out in a long time. It is a must see! Everyone in the theater loved it clapping at the end.
