You Geek 'Nuff' AICN'S MOVIE TRIVIA CONTEST! Now with GEEK ALGEBRA 101!

Hola Colas! This is Doc Falken. Since I'm going to be sitting here reading the daily reports from ComicCon like you are, I thought it would be a great time to have a contest. I'll daydream that I'm roaming the aisles of the show and collecting swag.

Not just any contest though. How about the WORLD'S FIRST RSS CONTEST!!! What does that mean? It means that for the next 5 days we'll be leaving a movie trivia puzzle in our RSS feed once a day at 4:20pm CDT. It will be available in our feeds 30 minutes before we put the clue here on this page (the clue will show up on this page at 4:50pm CDT each day). The RSS folks will have a head start, but everyone will be able to play.

If you subscribe to the feed, and are alerted to the clue, solve it as fast as you can, surf to the correct article, and email me back with what you find.

Our friends at Sideshow Collectibles will be rewarding our winners with exclusive items, so this should be fun. (Also check out the Sideshow Collectibles LIVE web cam and interviews from the show all week). Here are the details of this contest:

Tomorrow and everyday this week until Sunday, at 4:20pm CDT, we are going to have several clues show up as the first entry in all of our RSS feeds at the same time. This clue will be a math trivia puzzle where each clue resolves to a number that will be included in an equation. The equation will result in an answer that will be the same number as an article ID. When you have that answer, surf to the particular entry on the site, and you'll see an image with a code on it. Be the first person to email doc @ aintitcool.com the code, and you'll be the winner for the day. Here is an example of a clue that would show up in the RSS feed:

(The first year that McFly goes back to in BACK TO THE FUTURE) + (Number of people killed in HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES) + (The combination on the briefcase from PULP FICTION) = ????

The answers would be:
1955 year + 57 killed + 666 combination = 2678

You'd then surf to article 2678 by appending our URL with the number:

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=2678 On that page you'd see a large obvious graphic with a prize winning code on it. Go ahead and surf to the example winning page and see what I mean. Be the first to email me the code (doc@aintitcool.com) and you'd win.

What is this RSS stuff?

RSS is a simple format for headlines and other web site information. RSS readers allow you to subscribe to web sites that have RSS feeds, and you'll know when information is added to the site. As our friends at FeedBurner have surmised, "Consumer Bottom Line: RSS makes reviewing a large number of sites in a very short time possible."

Where can I find these Ain't It Cool RSS Feeds?

They can be found here on our site. You'll need a feed reader like Sage (for Firefox), Pluck, NetNewsWire, or FeedDemon. We'll have the clues on all of the feeds so you only need to subscribe to one of them for this contest.

What prizes?

Sideshow Collectibles has provided enough product so that we can award a prize each day during Comic Con, and the winners from the 5 days will be eligible to win the GRAND PRIZE!!! The GRAND PRIZE will be rewarded through a random drawing of the winners of the previous 5 days.

Here are the details on these prizes:

WEDNESDAY PRIZE:
Anna Valerious #55702

THURSDAY PRIZE:
Kroenen (from Hellboy) #8903

FRIDAY PRIZE:
Dr. Zaius Exclusive #75011

SATURDAY PRIZE:
Hunchback of Notre Dame, Silver Screen Edition #44241

SUNDAY PRIZE:
Goldeneye Bond #7725

GRAND PRIZE (AWARDED MONDAY):
Luke Skywalker (Exclusive with goggles!)

When will I get my prize?

Sometime late next week we'll work with the fine folks at Sideshow and get them sent out the door. They have all of these products on hold for this contest, and we'll get them to you quickly.

Who Won on Day One of this Contest? What happened?

Blaming his bad public school education, Doc Falken put together a puzzle and didn't know the correct answer. He incorrectly awarded a wrong answer as the winner, and at the same time ignored someone who had the correct answer posted to this site. So both folks will receive the day's award and both will be eligible for the Luke Skywalker give-away. Today is a new day, and we'll forge ahead with the next days trivia and have closed the book on Wednesday's debaucle. Thank you for your patience and good luck.
