Quint does the Monster Mash with the MASTERS OF HORROR, including Romero, Hooper, Coscarelli and many more!!!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little bit of a photo essay for you. I recently attended the launch party for Showtime and Anchor Bay's horror anthology series MASTERS OF HORROR. Believe it or not I didn't sneak in with Moriarty, but rather found someone fatter than I am outside the little club where the party was held, slit their throat, hollowed out their insides (I am humane, so I fed the intestines to the stray cats and dogs of the area) and climbed in.

Luckily for me, the lady at the door thought I was with the zombies they had hired to help with photo-ops as the Masters of Horror themselves decided to show up.

Being a life-long horror fan, I was very excited to be in that room with all these icons of horror. To name a few, I rubbed shoulders with George A. Romero, Don Coscarelli, John Landis, Robert Englund, Stuart Gordon, Greg Nicotero, Angus Scrimm, Mick Garris, Joe R. Lansdale, Richard Matheson and Steve Niles.

The party was crowded and loud. I ended up talking more with fellow internet quasi-celebrity Garth Franklin as well as Robert Sanchez from iesb.net. So, as you can see other than my bizarre entry to the party, I don't really have too many exciting stories, but I do have lots of pics. Let's begin, shall we?

Here are the zombies at the door... it was funny watching wannabe actors totally overact in front of the cameras... The iesb.net guy is crouched in the bottom of the pic, as well.

Ah, the first crowd shot. Notice Tobe Hooper in the very front (grey beard) and Mick Garris' wife, Cynthia chatting with Stuart Gordon (the older chubby bald dude with a goatee).

This is Orson Welles who was exhumed for the party... No, wait... That's that guy Scott Swan, I think. He wrote one of the episodes with some other nobody with a weird name... Notice Freddy lurking the dark background.

This is a damned scary picture of George A. Romero. Honestly, in person he seems very grandfatherly and sweet. I've been at 2 different events like this with him, as well as in front of one of his cameras, spanning almost 7 years and I have never met the man. I even talked with him on the phone when I was scheduling an interview that fell through at the last minute, but have never introduced myself... Weird how things work out like that.

Here's Don Coscarelli, director of the classic PHANTASM films as well as BEASTMASTER and the recent cult hit flick BUBBA HO-TEP, lookin' sharp in a green dress shirt. His segment will be another adaptation of a story from BUBBA author Joe R. Lansdale, although this one is a lot more on the scary side than the Elvis Vs. Mummy flick... Speaking of scary and Lansdale...

Here's Joe making a scared face.

Lurking around the dark club was none other than the Tall Man, himself, Angus Scrimm, another sweetheart of a guy. I've met Angus many times and can say he's a gentlemen of top class... and balls of steel... c'mon, I had to say it...

Here's another crowd shot where you can catch a glimpse of Mick Garris (profile middle of the picture) as well as John Landis' ear.

Here's a better shot of John Landis chatting it up with Romero... These two made two of my favorite films ever... AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and the original (and still best) DAWN OF THE DEAD.

And then this guy kept bugging me for money. Not quite sure what his deal was or how he got into the party...

That's about it. It looks like I'm going to be up in Vancouver in late May and I may very well drop in on one of the Masters of Horror productions. I personally am so damn excited to see all the above plus Dario Argento, Larry Cohen and John Carpenter going back to their roots, doing low budget uncensored gore stories. I expect nothing but greatness and a lot of these people have something to prove to the genre fans out there. I can't wait to see them step up to the plate and point to the bleachers.

I hope you guys liked the little glimpse inside this launch party. Thanks to Kraken for taking those pictures! I'll be back soon, squirts! 'Til then, this is Quint bidding you a fond farewell and adieu!
