Wait... They Hired A Writer For JONATHAN STRANGE & MR. NORRELL''!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

Somehow I missed this one. I lovelovelove this book. It’s one of the great reads I’ve had in recent memory, a complete surprise, dense and wonderfully rich in detail. You can’t compare it to HARRY POTTER or LORD OF THE RINGS or any other current fantasy property in the public eye. Susanna Clarke has an amazing original voice, and the idea of this particular writer adapting her novel into screenplay form bodes well for where New Line’s going with it:

Hi Harry

Neil Gaiman describes this book as "unquestionably the finest English novel of the fantastic written in the last seventy years." High praise indeed, well Mark Ordesky of Lord of the Rings fame has brought this project into New Line Cinema and Academy Award winner Christopher Hampton (/Dangerous Liaisons)/ is adapting the script.

Thanks

Jonathan

Depending on who they hire to direct this, it may well end up being one of the most anticipated films of the near-future in my book. I’ll definitely try to keep a closer eye on this one from now on.

"Moriarty" out.
