Director of WITHNAIL & I to return with H.S.T.'s THE RUM DIARY!!!
Hey folks, Harry here - this would be fantastic news. First, RUM DIARY has long been in development with Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro attached. But Bruce Robinson directing, oh that's happy news indeed. It has been way way way too long that we haven't seen his wit applied. Now, what's Josh doing in this exactly? Hmmm, let's check that link!
Hey AICN guys!
THIS is ~cool~ news!!!!!!
The above interview with Josh Hartnett reveals that Bruce Robinson
("Withnail & I", "How to Get Ahead in Advertising") is now directing
the long-delayed adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel "Rum
Diary" starring Johnny Depp & Benicio Del Toro!
After a directorial absence of nearly 13 years, this is outstanding
news to those of us who've waited patiently for his return. In
addition to the above two films, Bruce only ever directed one other -
"Jennifer 8", his big studio cock-up, which was written for Al Pacino,
but ended up starring Andy Garcia.
The only question that remains - will he find a role in the film for
Richard E. Grant?
