Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
It’s not often that I root against a film, but I really, really, really don’t want to see Justin Lin’s take on this material. OLDBOY is a singular film, and it’s not any one of its elements that makes it great. It’s the combination of star, style, director, score, cinematography... everything working together perfectly. It’s dark as shit, and I simply don’t believe that Universal’s going to let them make the film that Park Chanwook did.
Having said that, the casting we’ve been hearing so far is interesting. Up ‘till now, it’s been Nicolas Cage we’ve been hearing mentioned as the Americanized Oh Dae-su. Now this rumor breaks:

Oh god......... I hate the thought of any remake of Oldboy in any shape or form but here's some news of Thomas Jane playing the lead. I hope he likes dumplings...... Or pizza cuz it's THE AMERICAN remake so I guess it would have to be a american takeout equivalent.

The one, the first, the original "Oldboy" opens solidly!
Lastly I'm a little miffed at all this hype over Oldboy being over-the-top violent. Please. You'd think this is Ichi the Killer or something.
