Quicktime Teaser of New STAR WARS TRAILER HERE! Damn These Wookies Wule!

Hey folks, Harry here... Paul O. sent me the following teaser of the upcoming REVENGE OF THE SITH trailer. Now - before we get to that, I want to deal with something I noticed in my latest DVD preview talkback regarding my stance on the first two STAR WARS prequels.

Flatly, I love STAR WARS. I love it for the dreams it gave me, the passions it put into me and the stories it told me as a child. The Prequels - I have loved, but as things different from the originals. Everything is slicker, more fluid. So much so, that there's a disconnect from The Original Series to the New Series. Honestly - I've never seen the stylistic connection or technological connection between Chiang's designs and McQuarrie's. However, in the trailers for REVENGE OF THE SITH - there is something happening there. And I'm beginning to understand the disconnect. When Obi Wan talks about the Light Saber being a weapon for a more elegant and civilized time... That's these films. Technology is miraculous, the ships beautiful, the robots and technology more advance... before the Dark times, before... the Empire.

Now - just because I love PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONES doesn't mean I can't see what would have been... EVEN COOLER. I've enjoyed the political back and forths, how the Emperor came to power is technically far more important to the Star Wars universe than Anakin's turn to the Dark Side. Without the Emperor's rise, there would be no Anakin transformation. How evil obtains power over a free society by their own hand - it's one of the single most important lessons that any civilization can understand and acknowledge. BUT - as much as I love politics and the chessboard movements of the Emperor. Watching JEDI kickass and have their ass kicked... well, the boy in me that dreamt of THE CLONE WARS - that's what I dreamt of. Just that pure ass-kicking juvenile holy fuck, what next kinda ride. That's what Genndy did with THE CLONE WARS. It's just awesome mythical violence in a science fiction crusade. And when I say it's even better than the first two Prequels... it is, for that boy that dreamt of what General Kenobi meant. However, that doesn't mean that I'm not wholly aware of the whiners and bitchers that didn't enjoy the prequels on any level - cuz all they wanted was 2 hours of Jango Fett action. And all things with popularity, no matter how big, nor how small, have to deal with their very own Whiney Bitch Society (W.B.S.™).

I'd love to see Star Wars fandom just let go of their anger and give into the dream of what Star Wars means to each of them. Put aside their nitpicks and their rampant dissatisfactions and just remember this is a fairy tale with robots, spaceships and badass wookies!
