Ooo! LoneGunMan Had Only 3.5 For Tonight's GALACTICA 1.5!!

I am – Hercules!!

Ah hates me some limey British! They’s been gettin’ the new “Battleystar: Galactiker” whilst we god-fearin’ Americans gotta wait till the SciFier gets around to cablecasting!!!

Ya heard me right! We United Staters, what rules the world, am still two months behind on all the Galactiky good! Dang you, Tony Blair! Dang you Hugh Grant! Dang you, Posh Spice! Dangs you all to heeeeeeeeeeeck!

We begins with the “LoneGunMan”:

Hi all, I bit of a let down in the pace for Galactica this week, especially after the astounding first four episodes. Oh well, everything must have its quiet time... Here's my take on this week's action.

Battlestar Galactica 1.5 FAQ

What’s it called?
"You can't go home again"

How does it begin?
Continuing from last week's cliffhanger, Starbuck is stranded on a desert planet with a CO2/Methane atmosphere, only 40 hours of oxygen and a smashed radio and frakked knee.

Was there a lone downed Cylon like that classic episode from the original series?
Sorta. But not what you'd expect. Starbuck manages to scramble along, eventually discovering the downed Cylon Raider. She finds where her shots hit, but the red goo that is smeared down the front looks remarkably like blood. She opens a hatch, finding a mass of exposed bloody flesh. Eww!

So what else is going on then?
There's a little on Cylon occupied Caprica with Helo and Boomer mk2, being discovered by Cylon Centurions, but a lot of questions are raised. Where did the electricity come from to power the toaster? Why the strangely bleached out lighting? And what has happened to Boomer mk2? Otherwise, Six is wearing less in Baltar's mind, but that is understandable.

What's Good?
Starbuck is cool again, rummaging around in the literal blood and guts of the Raider trying to fathom the controls. Adama gets to shout at everyone in his determination to find Starbuck - "We leave no one behind!"

What's Bad?
After the amazing first 4 episodes, the pace is finally letting up and not a hell of a lot happens. Adama seems forgiving towards Starbuck after his "get out of here while you still can" of the previous episode, I'd have liked to have seen more of his wrestling with the thought of her thinking he hated her. The President tells everyone off and does her best school teacher rant at Apollo and Adama, which leaves you kinda frakked off with her. And Starbuck's escape is really quite predictable, if executed well. Good episode, but certainly not the nail-biter of previous weeks.

How does it end?
All's well that ends well, everyone's happy and likes everyone else. No cliff hanger, no nothing...

Battlestar Galactica 1.5 FAQ

What's it called?
"You Can't Go Home Again". Of course you can. You just need a downed Cylon raider and a little bit of mechanical know how. But more on that later.....

What does TV Guide say?
"Lee and Adama are determined to rescue Kara who is MIA, despite reservations from the crew about the use of precious resources."

What do we learn?
Finally, some significant developments on the Helo/Boomer front. She 'disappears' following a totally jaw-dropping gun fight between Helo and two Cylons (honestly, I've never been 100% sold on the look of these new Cylons but boy, do they look cool in action or what?!). Also, by the episode's end, the fleet's fuel resources are getting dangerously low.

So, another Starbuck episode?
Not particularly, although Katee Sackhoff seems a lot better suited to the material she is given this week (stranded, low on oxygen and trying to figure out the inner workings of her makeshift getaway craft). Instead, this episode focuses mainly on Apollo and Adama's desperate search for their missing comrade. We do, however, get a glimpse at some of the (so far) under-developed character relations in the process - The President/Col. Tigh, Apollo/Col. Tigh etc etc.

Does Apollo still suck?
Liking him better, more this week than last, put it that way. He gets to square up to Col. Tigh when the Galactica's second in command calls for the fleet to move on, which was rather impressive. There's also a great scene where he calls his father on his motivations for this seemingly hopeless search and rescue mission ("If it were you, we'd never leave.").

The good?
The aforementioned Helo/Cylon throwdown. An interesting 'confrontation' between Apollo's Viper and Starbuck's Cylon raider (I swear, he's like two seconds away from saying "The Force is strong with this one!"). And the emotional finale, of course!

The bad?
The President. The writer's seem to be falling into the trap of having her spoiling the military guys' fun all the time. It's like she's the Prime Directive made human.....

How does it end?
Adama gives up his last cigar.
