Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... I saw this report about DeNiro and Scorsese doing a sequel to their brilliant TAXI DRIVER on IMDB last night and while I love reading IMDB's news... well, let's just say that if you see it first on IMDB it's probably not true. That's not always the case, but in my experience it's more often than not true. Now the story is spreading around the internet, so I figured I'd open up a discussion for you folks about what this could be.
Robert DeNiro: "I was talking with Martin Scorsese about doing what I guess you'd call a sequel to Taxi Driver, where he is older."
So, is it true? Well, I bet DeNiro did say that, but who knows if that'll lead to anything real. While I'd be morbidly curious to what a Scorsese directed follow-up starring Robert DeNiro would be like, I can't shake the feeling that this is a bad idea. TAXI DRIVER is one of those films that shouldn't have a sequel. It's perfect as it stands. But if they announce Paul Schrader as writing the sequel, then consider me interested. If this is even true to begin with. I'll look into confirming it, but in the mean time, what do you folks think?
