Mr. Jones Says GALACTICA 1.12 Amazes!!

I am – Hercules!!

Those crazy Cylons! Turns out the girl robots love us almost as much as they want to kill us!

I don’t think the 13th episode is the last. I vaguely remember something about another six epiosodes being ordered for the first season.

“Mr Jones” says 1.12 is “absolutely superb” and opens with the best two minutes ever televised!

Herc

You don't appear to have received/posted anything relating to the absolutely superb penultimate episode, (and pt1 of a two-parter) of BG, aired here in the UK. Now, unlike most of your previous reviews, I'm approaching this from a 'stream of consciousness' viewpoint, so forgive me for bouncing around a little. Oh, and I can't invisotext or anything exciting, so I'll leave you to judge what should be hidden if you decide to roll with this.

Anyway I thought I'd chime in and point out that this is, by far, the best episode of BG in this series, and one of the better hour's of tv viewing in a while. So, in no particular order....(probably spoilers ahead, peeps, especially for US viewers who haven't seen much of the series yet, as many are tie-ups from earlier episodes)

The opening pre-credit sequence is, quite possibly, the best two minute sequence I have ever seen on tv - i kid you not. Completely, (well almost), without dialogue, inter-cutting between several different scenes over somewhat plaintive music, it's as good a mood-setter as I have seen, juxtaposing (primarily) deep unhappiness between various members of the crew, (and Helo). That alone was worth the price of admission.

Beyond that, the story unravels as BG (and especially the Pres) think they've found Kobol, the famed homeworld of the colonies. As the story unravels, we see a variety of things, a few of which were quite surprising.

The President is evidently slowly going mad, (in my opinion), and in fact is now challenging Gaius as loopiest member of the crew, (although her hallucinations and increasing belief in her own destiny are obviously nowhere near as cute as our favourite God-fearing Cylon!) Prophecies mentioned earlier really come to the foreground on this one.

Gaius is continuing to unravel, but his Cylon really comes into her own this episode as we realise that, real or not, she is in love with him, and is, by turns, angry/bitter/vengeful/loving towards him and his actions. A (not so surprising) coupling between him and Starbuck brings several minor plot threads to a very neat head this week. Oh, and for some reason, (or was it just me), sexy Cylon looked the best yet).

On that note, Starbuck and Apollo continue to dance around each other, although the aforementioned coupling throws a spanner in the works.

Starbuck also realises that Adama does not know where Earth is, which precipitates a further turn of events as the Pres uses Starbuck to further her own delusions of grandeur. If, as Gaius pointed out, he is the instrument of God, the Pres seems to be coming to the conclusion that she is the saviour of mankind. I kid you not.

Boomer, (Galactica version), is quite brilliant in this episode, as she perhaps slowly comes to terms with the fact that she may be a Cylon, and finds herself very, very alone.

Boomer, (Caprica version), wants to sort things out with Helo, (being in love with him n all), but Helo is obviously slightly confused with the issue. Although she patently wants to explain that all Boomers are, in fact, Cylons, he's not listening. However, he can't bring himself to kill her.

And, in the finale, (of the first half), we see Galactica try to jump three raptors over to 'Kobol' to check it out, only for them to find a rather large Cylon base-star waiting for them. With one destroyed, and one managing to jump back to Galactica, the last one is left to crash land on 'Kobol' with it's occupants, including most of the hangar crew and Gaius, (who has been advised by our sexy-Cylon to get off Galactica)...

And the ending? Well, Starbuck goes AWOL to try and help the Pres find Earth.

The only bad thing about this, frankly, is the fact that there's only one left....
