Updated! - John Landis to direct new horror musical - BATBOY!

Hey folks, Harry here... Seems that John Landis, like the creature of his upcoming film, will soon be on a cinematic rampage, by bringing BATBOY to the screen. From the poking about the site, it seems this play is "HIGH CAMP" and god willing... Landis will talk Rick Baker out of retirement and make a spectacular return to the silver screen - with a project that has Cult Cool written all over it. Here's the scoop...

Hi Harry.

It's late so I'll be brief (and probably mis-spelt), but the influence of cute and very appealling lady lead to me enjoying a cultured night in london and a muscial called Batboy. A very cheesy and very fun muscial in the tradition of the rocky horror show. (BatBoy)

Now not only was this a cultural night, but it happened to coincide with the 100th performance of the show, and the producer took this opportunity to make very grand announcement.

Now this may already be known, but from the excitement of the producer Micheal M(can't remember the last name), it did sound like he was breaking some news. Long story short he announced that the 100th performance was the perfect time to let it be known that Batboy the musical was about to become Batboy the musical the movie. Directed by none other than...

John Landis.

Okay I know his output has been quiet of late. But imagine Blues Brother's crossed with American Werewolf (and a brief dalliance with Rocky Horror) and never before has material been more suited. This could be very special. Sod Chicago.

If I'm used you can call me Kenbupa.

Cheers. Hope it's of use.

Hey folks - Harry here with the updated news on this exciting bit of coolness!

Harry--

It's true. John Landis is going to direct the Bat Boy: The Musical movie. I'm one of the playwrights, along with Keythe Farley and Laurence O'Keefe. Despite some interest since 2001 (the New York premiere of the play), the three of us have held out on making a movie deal until now, because we wanted the right director attached.

I'm glad we were patient, because John Landis is definitely the guy. Hollywood has been offering him movies that don't interest him recently, so he's been doing his own thing (Slasher--good doc). I feel we're lucky that he's such a fan of Bat Boy. His ideas for turning this into a movie are insanely good. I think we're going to make a kick-ass flick.

Congrats on the scoop (you even beat the London press!)
