Comic Con: Dig Dug digs Brad Bird's INCREDIBLES panel!

Harry here... saliva forming in gallons, mussst seeee moooooovie noooowww!

A few quick thoughts.

This was a great panel, maybe my favorite of the day (the Return of the King was cool for the footage, but this panel had great questions, cool clips, and awesome free stuff).

-Brad Bird is a genius, though we already know that. It sounds like he had free reign for The Incredibles. The movie will be Pixar's first PG rated film. Brad wanted to stress that parents with real sensitive little kids (I think the age he used as an example was five or six?) will want to exercise discretion and not take the rug rats to the movie. He suggested that the kids would run out screaming pretty quick.

-As of 10:00 AM Friday, The Incredibles was 'done.' Still needed some sound mixing and 'little' stuff, but the bulk is finished.

-the clip/s shown included a scene where Mr. Incredible is 'moonlighting' on an assignment. It seems he's a little over-weight and has problems fitting into the old uniform and shooting through the 'hatch' to get to his assignment. He has to fight some huge circular type robot (directions: take out, do it quickly, don't destroy). I LOVED the mix of action and comedy. I was literally in tears laughing at some of the stuff, and cheering at the action. The clip ended with Mr. Incredible taking his costume to 'an old friend' (what I can only describe as possibly a characature of Frau Farbissina from Austin Powers) to repair the damages. A great sequence details why super heros shouldn't have capes. The 'friend' of Mr. Incredible is voiced by Brad Bird.

Don't know what else to say. Brad kind of compared the tone of the movie this was:

if Nemo is in the center, Moster's Inc skews towards kids, and The Incredibles skews towards adults. It looks like the best Pixar movie since Toy Story, and going off of the scenes previewed, it could be the best Pixar movie period.

Great panel, and I'd love to see those clips online somewhere... ;)
