So There

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

I had a loooooong conversation with Harry this weekend, the first we’ve had time for since I ran the link to the FAHRENHEIT 911 trailer last week. First of all, I don’t think Harry’s a “commie pinko,” but I do think that many people get that idea from the site. Harry’s political ideas are as hard to pin down as my own, and as we talked about politics and Michael Moore and a number of other subjects, I couldn’t help but think how much better discourse in America would be if people would just take the time to hear each other out instead of slapping labels on one another. One of the reasons I’m not fond of Michael Moore’s films these days is because I think he looks for the sound bite, the easy quote, instead of actually digging into some of the complex ideas he sets up.

And is there anyone else out there willing to stand up and tackle these big subjects? Well, director Mike Wilson might be. Check this out...

Hey guys,

Just found a site about a documentary about Michael Moore and thought it was cool. It looks like it's answering the question, "What kind of film would Michael Moore make about himself, if he didn't agree with himself?" And it looks like it could be pretty funny. The director says in the one-sheet that, "While it has its serious side, [this film] is a hilarious romp through the myths about American life." He was trying to finish his film and get it distributed around the same time as Moore's "9/11"...things slipped, and now the target is 27 Aug.

CHECK OUT THE OFFICIAL SITE HERE!!

The director apparently believes that Moore's fans are some of the least tolerant people on Earth. Prove him wrong and post this!

As I’ve said repeatedly, I don’t think Moore’s making documentaries anymore, and any conversation about just what constitutes a “real” documentary and what is simply propaganda is probably a worthwhile conversation. I’m really curious to see this one, and I hope Moore breaks down and gives the guy an interview. After all, when Roger Smith wouldn’t give Moore an interview for ROGER & ME, he got deservedly skewered for it. I’m sure Moore’s learned his own film’s lessons...

... right?

"Moriarty" out.
