Jessica Rabbit checks out SHAUN OF THE DEAD and...

Hey folks, Harry here... If you've never had the blessing upon your life to see SPACED, then weep openly because you have not seen one of the greatest television shows ever. SPACED is like Seinfeld for geeks, but funnier than Seinfeld ever was. One episode has our fearless leader playing some zombie kill video game, but he imagines himself in a reality where he had to blow away zombies, and he's constantly being woken out of his daze for various inane things that are far less important than keeping the brain-eaters at bay! An entire film dedicated to fighting the undead with the level of humor sustained? BLISS! Well, that's my feeling about it, here's someone that's seen it... remember, she's not bad, she's just drawn that way....

Hey Harry,

I've written a few times before as __________ , but since I think the people I work with have figured that out, better not call me that. You'd probably better call me Jessica Rabbit.

Anyway, I got the chance to see Shaun of the Dead in London last night - what a top to a day which began with Jackson winning every Oscar going!

Simon Pegg and director Edgar Wright introduced it, and said that they finished it that morning. Apparently there are a couple of songs still to be fitted over the credits - one from Ash with Chris Martin, the other I can't remember - so they told us to "hum to ourselves and jig about a bit on the way out".

But what of the film itself, I hear you cry? Well, I don't want to give everything away, but I'll give you a few clues. All those who have seen the trailer (its online somewhere) have already seen how funny this film is - but I can assure you that this is not one of those "all-the-best-bits-are-in-the-trailer" situations. The humour builds up slowly until you're just falling about the place every other line. It's very much the same sense of humour as Spaced, the series, so it is never going to appeal to the masses, but for those of us who know and love Spaced, it's manna from heaven.

The horror is pretty gory - there is much blood and guts and people being ripped limb from limb. Since I am complete girl about zombie movies, I was pretty scared at times too, but all the manly men I was with were unfazed and continued laughing through the attacks.

All in all, a triumph. Some of the humour and references are unashamedly English, so all y'all Americans might not get it, but this is a cult film if ever I saw one. This is going to rule the college crowd forever. my friends and I came out and spent the next half hour just trotting lines from the film back and forth and, in one case, walking like a zombie. This is the most fun you're going to have in the cinema this year.

Peace out!

Jessica Rabbit
