Episode 12 - 12:00 - 1:00 a.m.
As Nina takes delivery of the virus from Amador, the CTU moves into
place to intercept it; Sherry fails in her first attempt to blackmail
Milliken; and Kim learns that ChloeÃs baby isnÃt really hers.
At the CTU Adam chafes when he learns Tony has brought in a master
computer expert, Dalton Furelle, to assist JackÃs operation. In
Mexico
Ramon orders Pablo to take Hector (whoÃs dying after being shot by
Ramon) to a hospital, but Jack convinces Ramon that Hector will never
make it, and Ramon finally shoots and kills Hector to put him out of
his misery. Nina tries once again to warn Ramon that Jack is still
working for the CTU, but Jack reminds Ramon of all heÃs done to help
Ramon and his brother, so Ramon agrees to go ahead and they head for
the meeting with Michael Amador. Back at the CTU Adam sees Kim
sitting
with baby Amber, and asks Kim who she belongs to. Kim says the baby
is
ChloeÃs, but Adam says he did a background check on Chloe and knows
she has no children. Chloe sees Kim talking to Adam and calls Kim on
thephone to see whatÃs going on. Kim asks who the baby really belongs
to, but Chloe refuses to say.
Back in Mexico Chas! e takes a position above the old mine where
Jack,
Ramon, and Nina will meet Amador. As their caravan arrives and they
get out of their vehicles, Nina tells Ramon she can prove Jack is
aiding the CTU, saying that if he is, they will have posted a sentry
on either some high ground ahead of them or at the tree-line to the
west. So Ramon orders Pablo and Phillippe to check it out. Meanwhile
Palmer tells Sherry he has told their daughter, Nicole, that Sherry
would like to speak with her, and Sherry heads off to a meeting with
her first source in her battle against Milliken, telling Palmer she
would do this even if he werenÃt helping her mend fences with Nicole.
Back at the mine Phillippe radios Ramon, saying he hasnÃt found any
CTU sentries. Then Pablo checks in, also saying he sees no one. As he
clicks off, however, we see Chase holding a knife to PabloÃs neck.
The
call satisfies Ramon, who warns Nina that if she tries to get away at
any time during the meeting with Amador, several snipe! rs will be
waiting to kill her.
At the CTU Kim finally gets a chance to ask Chloe face-to-face about
the baby, and Chloe says Amber belongs to her boyfriend Eric, whoÃs
hiding the child from his ex-wifeÃs abusive boyfriend. Kim asks why
they havenÃt notified Child Protective Services, and Chloe says Eric
did, just this morning. A moment later, though, Kim asks Dalton to
check the Child Protective Services database, and they find no record
of EricÃs complaint, nor of any complaint in AmberÃs name. Finally,
at
the mine, Nina warns Jack that if anything goes wrong during the deal
with Amador, Ramon will kill Jack, too, but then Ramon tells his
assistant Luis that if anything goes awry, kill Nina first.
Sherry arrives at a low-rent trailer park, where she visits a scruffy
man named Kevin Kelly. Sherry confirms that Kelly knows Alan Milliken
was the drunk driver in a hit-and-run accident that killed KellyÃs
daughter 12 years ago, and that he took a multi-million-dollar payoff
to keep quiet. Sherry offers to help Kelly get back at Milliken, but
Kelly asks for a favor in return: a full presidential pardon for his
son Patrick, whoÃs serving a life sentence for murder. Back at the
CTU
Kim tells Tony that Amber is not ChloeÃs baby, and that she suspects
Chloe is mentally unstable. Tony, however, insists they need ChloeÃs
technical expertise to get through this mission, and refuses to
address the baby issue until after itÃs complete. Meanwhile Sherry
calls Palmer to ask about the pardon for Patrick Kelly. Wayne advises
him not to get involved, but Palmer says he hasnÃt decided what he
should do. Back at the trailer park Sherry returns to KellyÃs
trailer,
but finds! it stripped of its furnishings. Scared, she rushes back to
her car as another set of headlights approaches. It turns out to be
just a couple of elderly residents, and Sherry drives away as quickly
as she can. Finally, in Mexico, Chase transmits an audio signal to
the
CTU as Amador and his driver arrive at the mine. Then, while Jack
watches from nearby, Amador greets Nina and shows her a briefcase
containing a metal cylinder holding the virus.
Amador removes the virus vial from the cylinder and Nina analyzes it
with a high-tech spectrascope. As Chase watches through binoculars
and
narrates to the crew at the CTU, Nina confirms the virus is real, and
Tony orders the CTU Delta teams to move in. Chase says the teams are
about a minute and a half away, and orders one team to go after
Amador, whoÃs leaving the mine after concluding his transaction with
Nina. After Amador is safely away, Ramon and Jack intercept Nina.
Then
Ramon takes the virus case and orders Jack and Nina to their knees at
gunpoint. Then, as Jack tries to stall for time, Chase shoots Ramon
in
the shoulder and Jack grabs his gun. RamonÃs men move in, but Chase
and Jack pick them off one by one. Still, though, Ramon gets away and
runs off into the woods, and as the Delta team helicopters finally
arrive, Chase orders them to go after Ramon.
From her car, Sherry calls MillikenÃs wife Julia, and says she knows
Julia would like to divorce Milliken, but isnÃt willing to lose
everything to do so. When Julia confirms this, Sherry says she knows
a
way Julia could win her freedom without losing her financial
security,
so Julia agrees to meet Sherry in 45 minutes. Back in the woods Jack
finds Ramon pinned by the spotlight of a Delta team chopper. Jack
orders the team to hold their fire, and tries to talk Ramon into
giving up. Ramon says heÃd rather make sure theyÃll all die. Then he
unscrews the top of the virus vialÖ but instead of the virus inside,
he sees too late that it contains a plastic explosive which goes off
in his face, killing him. After recovering from the explosion, Jack
and Chase realize Amador must have switched the real virus vial for a
booby-trapped one when he concluded the deal with Nina. Then Chloe
reports, via radio, that the other Delta team has cornered Amador. As
that team moves! in, however, AmadorÃs own men appear and mow down
the
Delta team. Then, as the CTU agents react, Amador smashes his cell
phone so he canÃt be tracked further, and drives off, tucking the
real
virus vial back into its padded metal case.
Episode 13 - 1:00 - 2:00 a.m.
As Jack flies Nina back to Los Angeles, she unleashes a computer
virus
she planted at the CTU; and Sherry confronts Milliken about his
involvement in the hit-and-run murder.
As the CTU staff learns Amador has ambushed and killed their Delta
team, Chase and Jack split up in the woods to chase Nina. As Chase
follows a light, however, Nina steps up behind him, holds a gun to
his
back, and forces him to radio Jack, saying everythingÃs OK. Then, as
Nina starts to march Chase off, Jack steps out and punches Nina, then
asks Chase to leave him alone with her. Jack intends to kill Nina,
but
she convinces him to let her live, saying she knows Amador is headed
for Los Angeles, and knows his contact there. AfterJack calls Tony to
say heÃs bringing Nina back, Tony confronts Chloe about the baby
sheÃs
watching. Once again she refuses to say whose baby it is, and says he
can call the police if he wants to. Meanwhile Palmer gets a call from
Sherry, who reports that someone got to Kevin Kelly before she could
convince him to speak up about MillikenÃs involvement in the
12-year-old hit-and-run murder of KellyÃs daughter. Sherry says sheÃs
on her ! way to talk to Julia Milliken, and Palmer warns her not to
confront Milliken himself, which Sherry promises not to do. A few
minutes later Jack, Nina, and Chase board a CTU plane for Los
AngelesÖ
while Amador, on his own private jet, calls his L.A. contact, Marcus
Alvers, to say heÃll be there in an hour with the virus.
About the same time, Sherry calls Julia Milliken, who gives her
instructions for getting through the security gate at the Milliken
estate. Then Julia goes to MillikenÃs bedroom and tucks him in,
saying
sheÃs going downstairs to make some tea. Back on the CTU plane Nina
tells Jack that AmadorÃs L.A. contact is named ìAlvers,î so Jack
relays this to Tony, who assigns his staff to investigate. After the
call Jack tries to mend fences with Chase, whoÃs still cool toward
him
but finally does agree that their real goal is to press Nina and find
Amador and the virus. A few minutes later, at the CTU, Dalton and
Adam
pinpoint Marcus Alversà full name and history, and set to work
tracking him down. Tony radios Jack, who tells Nina what theyÃve
learned. To JackÃs surprise, Nina provides more details about Alvers,
revealing that she knew the basics already but just wanted to see how
fast the CTU could dig up the information. Finally Nina gives Jack a
phone number to rea! ch Alvers, but when Jack dials it and punches in
a string of numbers she provides, the line goes dead and Nina smiles:
the CTU computer systems start to crash, and Nina tells Jack that the
call he just made triggered a worm she planted long ago at the CTU,
which will gradually jam its entire network.
As the CTU staff rushes to fight the worm, Jack calls Tony to report
what Nina has done. Jack tells Tony to put Chloe on the problem, but
Tony says he canÃt because the LAPD has just arrived to arrest her.
Chase learns Nina has a code that can cancel the virus, but she
refuses to provide it unless they turn the plane around and let her
go
in Mexico. Jack refuses, saying the CTU staff might be able to stop
the virus on their own. Back at the CTU Chappelle gives Chloe one
more
chance to tell him who the baby belongs to, but Tony intervenes and
puts Chloe back to work fighting the computer virus. Meanwhile Sherry
arrives at the Milliken estate, tells Julia about MillikenÃs
involvement in the hit-and-run murder, and promises that if Julia
helps her send Milliken to prison, Julia will get all his money.
Sherry asks Julia to find out all the phone calls Milliken made from
his cell phone in the last three hours, but Julia says the phone is
with Milliken in his bedr! oom. Julia says sheÃs afraid to try to get
itÖ but Sherry says sheÃs not, and a few moments later she tiptoes
into MillikenÃs room. He seems to be asleep, but as she picks up the
phone and leaves, he stirs.
A bit later, after Sherry calls a technical contact to report the
numbers Alan has called recently, she starts to leave, but then
Milliken appears and accuses Julia of stealing his phone. Sherry
admits that she did it and boldly asks him what happened to Kevin
Kelly (the man who disappeared from the trailer park a bit earlierÖ
and who can incriminate Milliken in the murder of KellyÃs daughter).
Milliken doesnÃt answer her, so Sherry starts to leave, but Milliken
asks her to stay and sit down. Back on the plane Jack calls Tony
again
and learns the computer worm is just three minutes from shutting down
the entire CTU system. Jack tells Nina sheÃll have to tell him now
how
to stop it, or it will be too late and sheÃll have no more leverage.
He puts her on the phone with Chloe, but instead of stopping the
worm,
Nina gives Chloe a code that slows it down, which buys them another
20
minutes to negotiate. Then Nina demands again to be returned to
Mexico
and freedÖ ! but again, Jack refuses.
Later, as the plane begins its approach into L.A., Jack insists Nina
give him the kill code for the virus. She refuses, and suddenly the
plane reverses its descent and begins to turn around. Jack asks
whatÃs
going on, and the pilot reports Tony ordered him to give in to NinaÃs
demands so sheÃll provide the kill code. Jack pulls a gun on the
pilot
and orders him to land anyway, then calls Tony. As they argue, Chloe
and Dalton finally get the virus under control, and within moments
they regain control of the CTU computers. Jack reports this to Nina
and the plane finally comes in for its landing. Back at the CTU
Chappelle again confronts Chloe while Child Protective Services
workers take the baby into custody. Finally Chloe tells both
Chappelle
and Kim that the baby is ChaseÃs. Meanwhile, at the Milliken estate,
Sherry gets into a heated argument with Milliken, who suddenly starts
to wheeze and clutch at his chest. He asks Julia to fetch his pills,
but Sherry s! tops her, indicating that they should just let Milliken
die.
Episode 14 -2:00 - 3:00 a.m.
Jack returns Nina to the CTU, where Tony questions her; Jack is
questioned by Internal Affairs; Kim confronts Chase about the baby;
and Sherry tries to cover up her involvement after MillikenÃs death
is
discovered.
After Milliken dies, Sherry convinces Julia to go to bed and
ìdiscoverî the body later, telling no one that they were present when
he was stricken. Meanwhile, after the CTU plane lands, Jack ushers
Nina off while Chase gets a call from Chloe, alerting him that she
has
told Tony the baby is ChaseÃs. Meanwhile Michael Amador meets his
contact, Marcus Alvers, in the back room of a seedy restaurant, where
Alvers removes the virus from its canister and begins dividing it
among 12 small vials. A few minutes later, at the CTU, security
officers whisk Nina away for questioning while Chappelle orders Jack
to the medical department to have his drug withdrawal symptoms
checked. Then, as Nina is walked through the building, Kim sees her.
Kim stops Nina and her guards, then punches Nina in the face. Then
Jack enters, sees Kim crying, and sweeps her into a hug before Kim
can
do anything else.
After Kim calms down, Jack tells her heÃs going to get his drug
problem evaluated, and Kim watches Chase enter. Meanwhile Sherry
arrives at PalmerÃs office and tells him that she did finally take
his
advice, and instead of going to the Milliken estate, pulled her car
off the road, made some phone calls, and then just came back to the
office. At the CTU Chase goes with Jack to the clinic, admits to Jack
that he has a baby daughter, and promises ó at JackÃs insistence ó to
explain everything to Kim right away. About the same time, Kim
apologizes to Tony for losing her cool and punching Nina, but Tony
assures her that if she hadnÃt done it, he might have. After Tony
leaves, Chase joins Kim and explains that he didnÃt know his previous
relationship had produced a child until the mother dropped her off a
few weeks ago, saying she could no longer care for the baby. He says
Chloe has been helping him keep the secret because theyÃre old
friends. Meanwhile Michelle a! nd Dalton set up recording equipment
in
an observation room while Tony goes into the interrogation room next
door and begins questioning Nina about Marcus Alvers. Nina tries to
distract Tony with references to their past relationship, but he does
manage to learn that Nina and Alvers had an intimate relationship.
At the Milliken estate a housekeeper finally finds MillikenÃs body
and
summons Julia, who doesnÃt let on that she already knew Milliken was
dead. At the CTU Jack heads for the interrogation room, but Chappelle
stops him and orders him to talk first with Mike Lafabe, an Internal
Affairs agent. In the interrogation room Nina points out that TonyÃs
neck wound is starting to bleed, and when he goes out to the hall so
Michelle can tend to it, he tells her to bring in their new torture
expert, Peter Johnson. At the same time, Kim asks Chase for more
details about his relationship with the babyÃs mother, while he
finally retrieves the child from another agent, Marcy, whoÃs been
watching her. Then, finally, Johnson joins Tony and Nina in the
interrogation room and readies his instruments.
Back at the restaurant Alvers calls another contact and promises, in
Russian, to meet him soon... and Amador agrees, as long as theyÃll
have time to leave the country before the virus is released. At the
CTU Jack explains to Lafabe that he started using heroin before he
re-established contact with the Salazars so he could be a believable
junkie by the time he met up with them. Lafabe doesnÃt believe it,
but
Chappelle supports Jack and Jack insists he has nothing to hide.
Meanwhile, at PalmerÃs office, Wayne learns from a newscast that
Milliken is dead, and asks Palmer where Sherry was when the death
occurred. Palmer assures him Sherry didnÃt go to the Milliken estate,
but then confronts Sherry and demands the truth. At first Sherry
denies she was at the estate, but finally tells Palmer that Milliken
had a heart attack while arguing with her and Julia. She denies,
however, that she did anything to cause it. Back at the CTU Chase
tells Jack that Johnson is wor! king on Nina now, but Jack says
thatÃs
not a good idea because he doesnÃt know her well enough, and she
could
take advantage of him. Meanwhile, in the
interrogation room, as Johnson presses a blade to NinaÃs neck and
Tony
asks how much more she can take, she jerks her neck back, forcing
JohnsonÃs blade into an artery in her neck. As she starts to bleed
profusely, Tony calls for help, then unlatches her from her chair.
At his office Palmer tells Wayne that Sherry was at the Milliken
estate when Milliken died, but claims she didnÃt have anything to do
with the death. Wayne is skeptical, however, and calls Julia, who
finally breaks down and says Sherry prevented her from giving
Milliken
medicine that could have saved him. Meanwhile, at the CTU clinic, a
doctor prepares to operate on Nina and orders a medic to start an
anesthesia drip. The medic does, but doesnÃt see Nina pinch the tube
to prevent the drug from entering her veins. At the same time Tony
reports NinaÃs actions to Jack, and before he has time to react, an
alarm rings out, alerting them that Nina has escaped. Chappelle
orders
the building locked down, and as everyone runs off to look for Nina,
Kim sees a dead guard in a corridor, pulls out her gun, and comes
face
to face with Nina, who also draws a gun on Kim. For a moment thereÃs
a
tense standoff, but then Jack appears, shoots Nina in the head, and
grabs Kim in a protective embrace.
Episode 15 3:00 A.M. - 4:00 A.M.
Jack finally catches Michael Amador, but only after Marcus Alvers has
escaped with the virus and prepares to release it at a large hotel;
and the police learn Sherry was at the Milliken mansion when Milliken
died.
In the aftermath of NinaÃs death, Jack tells Chappelle that he shot
her in self-defense, but Chappelle says heÃll need to make sure of
that. At the seedy nightspot Amador and Alvers welcome their client,
Saunders, who says he chose a rather limited first target for the
virus because he just wants to send a message. Back at the CTU Tony
tells the other agents about NinaÃs death, but says he may have
another lead on finding AlversÖ and then displays a photo of a
bio-warfare detonator which heÃs just learned was stolen three weeks
ago in the Ukraine, and which he says Amador and Alvers may be
attaching to vials of the virus. At the nightclub Alvers demonstrates
the detonatorÃs trigger mechanism for Saunders, who approves.
Saunders
also scolds Amador for being duped by Jack in Mexico. Amador says he
still got his job done, though, and reminds Saunders that he and
Alvers havenÃt been paid yet. Saunders gives him an authorization
code
for a Swiss bank account, but! when Amador checks the account on his
computer, he finds only half the promised balance. Saunders says
theyÃll get the rest after Alvers releases the virus at the hotel
theyÃve chosen. Meanwhile Chloe, monitoring various data streams,
sees
someone access the Swiss account, which is registered to one of
AmadorÃs aliases. Tony orders Kim to trace the computer accessing the
account, and Adam says they can find AmadorÃs location in less than
ten minutes. At the same time Jack tells Chappelle how he came to
shoot Nina, but because Jack blocked security cameras during the
shooting, Chappelle doubts that it was entirely self-defense. Before
they can argue, however, Chase tells them about the lead on AmadorÃs
location, and Chappelle finally agrees to let Jack go there with
Chase
and a SWAT team.
At PalmerÃs district offices, Wayne confronts Sherry and tells her
that Julia told him how she withheld medication from Milliken as he
was dying. Sherry insists she was just cleaning up the problem like
Palmer wanted her to. Wayne says sheÃs insane and Palmer will have to
know the truth, but Sherry says they canÃt tell him, and Wayne
realizes sheÃs right. Meanwhile a detective, Mike Norris, questions
Julia about MillikenÃs death. Julia is surprised when Norris tells
her
that the housekeeper saw a Mercedes driving away from the house just
before she found MillikenÃs body, but Julia says she doesnÃt know
whose car it might have been. Norris also tells Julia that the
houseÃs
security cameras were shut down about an hour before MillikenÃs
death,
but again Julia says she doesnÃt know how that came to be. Back at
the
CTU Kim forwards a grid showing AmadorÃs location to Jack and Chase
in
JackÃs SUV. Meanwhile Alvers arrives at the St. George Hotel, goes
into a gues! t room and takes out a folded garment, a tool box, and
the vial with the detonating device, which he tests before starting
to
change clothes.
At PalmerÃs office Wayne again offers to resign if he has become a
liability to PalmerÃs presidency, but Palmer still wonÃt hear of it,
saying he trusts Wayne more than he could anyone else. At the same
time, Jack and Chase arrive in Chinatown and take command of a SWAT
team getting into position outside the seedy nightclub. Inside,
however, Amador sees the men on a security screenÖ just as Jack,
outside, notices a motion detector and realizes that Amador knows
theyÃre there. A moment later Amador races out of the building,
shooting at the SWAT team, and darts across the alley. Jack chases
and
corners him, and they scuffle, but Jack finally pins Amador. As Chase
calls in the capture, however, Amador says theyÃre too late to
prevent
the virus from getting out, and Jack and Chase drag him back inside
for questioning.
A few minutes later Jack readies a hot frying pan inside the
nightclub, and asks Amador where the virus is, saying he can protect
Amador if he talks. Amador refuses, noting that Jack hasnÃt even been
able to protect his own family members lately. Finally Chase presses
AmadorÃs hand into the hot frying pan, but Amador just passes out.
Jack calls Tony and tells him theyÃve got Amador, but the virus has
already been passed on. Just then, however, Chloe, whoÃs been
searching AmadorÃs computer, finds schematic drawings of the St.
George Hotel. Jack says the hotel may be Alversà target, and Tony
dispatches a team there. Tony also calls Craig Phillips, head of
security at the St. George, and orders him to lock down the building
immediately and start keeping an eye out for Alvers. After the call
Tony prepares to head for the hotel with the rest of the CTU team,
but
Michelle sees that heÃs still weak from his earlier wound, and talks
him into staying behind while she! goes instead. Finally, at the
hotel, Alvers, now dressed in a maintenance uniform, leaves his room
and heads out into a corridor.
A bit later, at PalmerÃs office, Sherry gets a call from Detective
Norris, who says Julia Milliken says Sherry was with her when
Milliken
died. Sherry denies this, and says Palmer will confirm sheÃs been at
his office all evening. At the hotel Phillips sees a maintenance man
(Alvers) he doesnÃt recognize, and asks his assistant to check him
out. Then one of the CTU agents, stationed outside, shows Michelle a
photo of Alvers entering the hotel, which was taken by the hotel
security cameras. Michelle realizes itÃs too dangerous to order
anyone
from her team to go inside, so she decides to go herself, As she
heads
for the door, Gael and three other agents decide to brave the
premises
too. A few moments later, inside, Phillips tells Michelle that he may
know where Alvers is. Meanwhile, in the hotelÃs ventilation room,
Alvers places the virus vial under the systemÃs main fan, sets a
timer, and leaves. As heÃs passing through a utility room, however,
Michelle conf! ronts him and manages to cuff him to a pipe. Then she
asks where the virus is, noting that if he doesnÃt tell her, heÃll
die
along with everyone else. Finally he says itÃs in the central heating
unit, and after she radios this to Gael, he races to the ventilation
room and finds the vial near the fan. Just as he reaches for it, the
timer ticks down, thereÃs a small explosion, and a fine white powder
is blown all over GaelÃs face and up into the fan, where it starts to
spread throughout the hotel.

reports, via radio, that the other Delta team has cornered Amador. As
that team moves! in, however, AmadorÃs own men appear and mow down
the
Jack returns Nina to the CTU, where Tony questions her; Jack is
questioned by Internal Affairs; Kim confronts Chase about the baby;
and Sherry tries to cover up her involvement after MillikenÃs death
is
Jack finally catches Michael Amador, but only after Marcus Alvers has
escaped with the virus and prepares to release it at a large hotel;
and the police learn Sherry was at the Milliken mansion when Milliken

Episode 12 - 12:00 - 1:00 a.m.
As Nina takes delivery of the virus from Amador, the CTU moves into place to intercept it; Sherry fails in her first attempt to blackmail Milliken; and Kim learns that ChloeÃs baby isnÃt really hers.
At the CTU Adam chafes when he learns Tony has brought in a master computer expert, Dalton Furelle, to assist JackÃs operation. In Mexico Ramon orders Pablo to take Hector (whoÃs dying after being shot by Ramon) to a hospital, but Jack convinces Ramon that Hector will never make it, and Ramon finally shoots and kills Hector to put him out of his misery. Nina tries once again to warn Ramon that Jack is still working for the CTU, but Jack reminds Ramon of all heÃs done to help Ramon and his brother, so Ramon agrees to go ahead and they head for the meeting with Michael Amador. Back at the CTU Adam sees Kim sitting with baby Amber, and asks Kim who she belongs to. Kim says the baby is ChloeÃs, but Adam says he did a background check on Chloe and knows she has no children. Chloe sees Kim talking to Adam and calls Kim on thephone to see whatÃs going on. Kim asks who the baby really belongs to, but Chloe refuses to say. Back in Mexico Chas! e takes a position above the old mine where Jack, Ramon, and Nina will meet Amador. As their caravan arrives and they get out of their vehicles, Nina tells Ramon she can prove Jack is aiding the CTU, saying that if he is, they will have posted a sentry on either some high ground ahead of them or at the tree-line to the west. So Ramon orders Pablo and Phillippe to check it out. Meanwhile Palmer tells Sherry he has told their daughter, Nicole, that Sherry would like to speak with her, and Sherry heads off to a meeting with her first source in her battle against Milliken, telling Palmer she would do this even if he werenÃt helping her mend fences with Nicole. Back at the mine Phillippe radios Ramon, saying he hasnÃt found any CTU sentries. Then Pablo checks in, also saying he sees no one. As he clicks off, however, we see Chase holding a knife to PabloÃs neck. The call satisfies Ramon, who warns Nina that if she tries to get away at any time during the meeting with Amador, several snipe! rs will be waiting to kill her.
At the CTU Kim finally gets a chance to ask Chloe face-to-face about the baby, and Chloe says Amber belongs to her boyfriend Eric, whoÃs hiding the child from his ex-wifeÃs abusive boyfriend. Kim asks why they havenÃt notified Child Protective Services, and Chloe says Eric did, just this morning. A moment later, though, Kim asks Dalton to check the Child Protective Services database, and they find no record of EricÃs complaint, nor of any complaint in AmberÃs name. Finally, at the mine, Nina warns Jack that if anything goes wrong during the deal with Amador, Ramon will kill Jack, too, but then Ramon tells his assistant Luis that if anything goes awry, kill Nina first.
Sherry arrives at a low-rent trailer park, where she visits a scruffy man named Kevin Kelly. Sherry confirms that Kelly knows Alan Milliken was the drunk driver in a hit-and-run accident that killed KellyÃs daughter 12 years ago, and that he took a multi-million-dollar payoff to keep quiet. Sherry offers to help Kelly get back at Milliken, but Kelly asks for a favor in return: a full presidential pardon for his son Patrick, whoÃs serving a life sentence for murder. Back at the CTU Kim tells Tony that Amber is not ChloeÃs baby, and that she suspects Chloe is mentally unstable. Tony, however, insists they need ChloeÃs technical expertise to get through this mission, and refuses to address the baby issue until after itÃs complete. Meanwhile Sherry calls Palmer to ask about the pardon for Patrick Kelly. Wayne advises him not to get involved, but Palmer says he hasnÃt decided what he should do. Back at the trailer park Sherry returns to KellyÃs trailer, but finds! it stripped of its furnishings. Scared, she rushes back to her car as another set of headlights approaches. It turns out to be just a couple of elderly residents, and Sherry drives away as quickly as she can. Finally, in Mexico, Chase transmits an audio signal to the CTU as Amador and his driver arrive at the mine. Then, while Jack watches from nearby, Amador greets Nina and shows her a briefcase containing a metal cylinder holding the virus.
Amador removes the virus vial from the cylinder and Nina analyzes it with a high-tech spectrascope. As Chase watches through binoculars and narrates to the crew at the CTU, Nina confirms the virus is real, and Tony orders the CTU Delta teams to move in. Chase says the teams are about a minute and a half away, and orders one team to go after Amador, whoÃs leaving the mine after concluding his transaction with Nina. After Amador is safely away, Ramon and Jack intercept Nina. Then Ramon takes the virus case and orders Jack and Nina to their knees at gunpoint. Then, as Jack tries to stall for time, Chase shoots Ramon in the shoulder and Jack grabs his gun. RamonÃs men move in, but Chase and Jack pick them off one by one. Still, though, Ramon gets away and runs off into the woods, and as the Delta team helicopters finally arrive, Chase orders them to go after Ramon.

Then, as Nina is walked through the building, Kim sees her. Kim stops Nina and her guards, then punches Nina in the face. Then Jack enters, sees Kim crying, and sweeps her into a hug before Kim can do anything else.
After Kim calms down, Jack tells her heÃs going to get his drug problem evaluated, and Kim watches Chase enter. Meanwhile Sherry arrives at PalmerÃs office and tells him that she did finally take his advice, and instead of going to the Milliken estate, pulled her car off the road, made some phone calls, and then just came back to the office. At the CTU Chase goes with Jack to the clinic, admits to Jack that he has a baby daughter, and promises ó at JackÃs insistence ó to explain everything to Kim right away. About the same time, Kim apologizes to Tony for losing her cool and punching Nina, but Tony assures her that if she hadnÃt done it, he might have. After Tony leaves, Chase joins Kim and explains that he didnÃt know his previous relationship had produced a child until the mother dropped her off a few weeks ago, saying she could no longer care for the baby. He says Chloe has been helping him keep the secret because theyÃre old friends. Meanwhile Michelle a! nd Dalton set up recording equipment in an observation room while Tony goes into the interrogation room next door and begins questioning Nina about Marcus Alvers. Nina tries to distract Tony with references to their past relationship, but he does manage to learn that Nina and Alvers had an intimate relationship.
At the Milliken estate a housekeeper finally finds MillikenÃs body and summons Julia, who doesnÃt let on that she already knew Milliken was dead. At the CTU Jack heads for the interrogation room, but Chappelle stops him and orders him to talk first with Mike Lafabe, an Internal Affairs agent. In the interrogation room Nina points out that TonyÃs neck wound is starting to bleed, and when he goes out to the hall so Michelle can tend to it, he tells her to bring in their new torture expert, Peter Johnson. At the same time, Kim asks Chase for more details about his relationship with the babyÃs mother, while he finally retrieves the child from another agent, Marcy, whoÃs been watching her. Then, finally, Johnson joins Tony and Nina in the interrogation room and readies his instruments.
Back at the restaurant Alvers calls another contact and promises, in Russian, to meet him soon... and Amador agrees, as long as theyÃll have time to leave the country before the virus is released. At the CTU Jack explains to Lafabe that he started using heroin before he re-established contact with the Salazars so he could be a believable junkie by the time he met up with them. Lafabe doesnÃt believe it, but Chappelle supports Jack and Jack insists he has nothing to hide. Meanwhile, at PalmerÃs office, Wayne learns from a newscast that Milliken is dead, and asks Palmer where Sherry was when the death occurred. Palmer assures him Sherry didnÃt go to the Milliken estate, but then confronts Sherry and demands the truth. At first Sherry denies she was at the estate, but finally tells Palmer that Milliken had a heart attack while arguing with her and Julia. She denies, however, that she did anything to cause it. Back at the CTU Chase tells Jack that Johnson is wor! king on Nina now, but Jack says thatÃs not a good idea because he doesnÃt know her well enough, and she could take advantage of him. Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, as Johnson presses a blade to NinaÃs neck and Tony asks how much more she can take, she jerks her neck back, forcing JohnsonÃs blade into an artery in her neck. As she starts to bleed profusely, Tony calls for help, then unlatches her from her chair.
Jack finally catches Michael Amador, but only after Marcus Alvers has escaped with the virus and prepares to release it at a large hotel; and the police learn Sherry was at the Milliken mansion when Milliken died.
In the aftermath of NinaÃs death, Jack tells Chappelle that he shot her in self-defense, but Chappelle says heÃll need to make sure of that. At the seedy nightspot Amador and Alvers welcome their client, Saunders, who says he chose a rather limited first target for the virus because he just wants to send a message. Back at the CTU Tony tells the other agents about NinaÃs death, but says he may have another lead on finding AlversÖ and then displays a photo of a bio-warfare detonator which heÃs just learned was stolen three weeks ago in the Ukraine, and which he says Amador and Alvers may be attaching to vials of the virus. At the nightclub Alvers demonstrates the detonatorÃs trigger mechanism for Saunders, who approves. Saunders also scolds Amador for being duped by Jack in Mexico. Amador says he still got his job done, though, and reminds Saunders that he and Alvers havenÃt been paid yet. Saunders gives him an authorization code for a Swiss bank account, but! when Amador checks the account on his computer, he finds only half the promised balance. Saunders says theyÃll get the rest after Alvers releases the virus at the hotel theyÃve chosen. Meanwhile Chloe, monitoring various data streams, sees someone access the Swiss account, which is registered to one of AmadorÃs aliases. Tony orders Kim to trace the computer accessing the account, and Adam says they can find AmadorÃs location in less than ten minutes. At the same time Jack tells Chappelle how he came to shoot Nina, but because Jack blocked security cameras during the shooting, Chappelle doubts that it was entirely self-defense. Before they can argue, however, Chase tells them about the lead on AmadorÃs location, and Chappelle finally agrees to let Jack go there with Chase and a SWAT team.
At PalmerÃs district offices, Wayne confronts Sherry and tells her that Julia told him how she withheld medication from Milliken as he was dying. Sherry insists she was just cleaning up the problem like Palmer wanted her to. Wayne says sheÃs insane and Palmer will have to know the truth, but Sherry says they canÃt tell him, and Wayne realizes sheÃs right. Meanwhile a detective, Mike Norris, questions Julia about MillikenÃs death. Julia is surprised when Norris tells her that the housekeeper saw a Mercedes driving away from the house just before she found MillikenÃs body, but Julia says she doesnÃt know whose car it might have been. Norris also tells Julia that the houseÃs security cameras were shut down about an hour before MillikenÃs death, but again Julia says she doesnÃt know how that came to be. Back at the CTU Kim forwards a grid showing AmadorÃs location to Jack and Chase in JackÃs SUV. Meanwhile Alvers arrives at the St. George Hotel, goes into a gues! t room and takes out a folded garment, a tool box, and the vial with the detonating device, which he tests before starting to change clothes.
At PalmerÃs office Wayne again offers to resign if he has become a liability to PalmerÃs presidency, but Palmer still wonÃt hear of it, saying he trusts Wayne more than he could anyone else. At the same time, Jack and Chase arrive in Chinatown and take command of a SWAT team getting into position outside the seedy nightclub. Inside, however, Amador sees the men on a security screenÖ just as Jack, outside, notices a motion detector and realizes that Amador knows theyÃre there. A moment later Amador races out of the building, shooting at the SWAT team, and darts across the alley. Jack chases and corners him, and they scuffle, but Jack finally pins Amador. As Chase calls in the capture, however, Amador says theyÃre too late to prevent the virus from getting out, and Jack and Chase drag him back inside for questioning.
A few minutes later Jack readies a hot frying pan inside the nightclub, and asks Amador where the virus is, saying he can protect Amador if he talks. Amador refuses, noting that Jack hasnÃt even been able to protect his own family members lately. Finally Chase presses AmadorÃs hand into the hot frying pan, but Amador just passes out. Jack calls Tony and tells him theyÃve got Amador, but the virus has already been passed on. Just then, however, Chloe, whoÃs been searching AmadorÃs computer, finds schematic drawings of the St. George Hotel. Jack says the hotel may be Alversà target, and Tony dispatches a team there. Tony also calls Craig Phillips, head of security at the St. George, and orders him to lock down the building immediately and start keeping an eye out for Alvers. After the call Tony prepares to head for the hotel with the rest of the CTU team, but Michelle sees that heÃs still weak from his earlier wound, and talks him into staying behind while she! goes instead. Finally, at the hotel, Alvers, now dressed in a maintenance uniform, leaves his room and heads out into a corridor.
A bit later, at PalmerÃs office, Sherry gets a call from Detective Norris, who says Julia Milliken says Sherry was with her when Milliken died. Sherry denies this, and says Palmer will confirm sheÃs been at his office all evening. At the hotel Phillips sees a maintenance man (Alvers) he doesnÃt recognize, and asks his assistant to check him out. Then one of the CTU agents, stationed outside, shows Michelle a photo of Alvers entering the hotel, which was taken by the hotel security cameras. Michelle realizes itÃs too dangerous to order anyone from her team to go inside, so she decides to go herself, As she heads for the door, Gael and three other agents decide to brave the premises too. A few moments later, inside, Phillips tells Michelle that he may know where Alvers is. Meanwhile, in the hotelÃs ventilation room, Alvers places the virus vial under the systemÃs main fan, sets a timer, and leaves. As heÃs passing through a utility room, however, Michelle conf! ronts him and manages to cuff him to a pipe. Then she asks where the virus is, noting that if he doesnÃt tell her, heÃll die along with everyone else. Finally he says itÃs in the central heating unit, and after she radios this to Gael, he races to the ventilation room and finds the vial near the fan. Just as he reaches for it, the timer ticks down, thereÃs a small explosion, and a fine white powder is blown all over GaelÃs face and up into the fan, where it starts to spread throughout the hotel.
