THE PERFUME to be adapted with Tom Tykwer directing!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... I've been following Perfume : The Story of a Murderer as a project for a while now. I first picked up Patrick Süskind's novel about a year ago and was absolutely captivated by the read. First off, Tykwer is a great director for the project, but even moreso... the casting of Orlando Bloom as the terribly talented Grenouille... well, if it comes to pass... it will challenge Orlando's acting skills in a way that no other film he's been in to date has. If you wish to find out more about the book, click on the above link... and if perchance, you pick up the book... be prepared, it's a deliciously wicked read!

Hi Harry!

I've got some news about the upcoming adaptation of Patrick Süskind's novel "The Perfum". Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) will be the director!!! Great news, I think. I translated the article, it was published by yahoo.de (the German version of yahoo) today:

"Munich (dpa) - The German filmmaker Tom Tykwer (38, "Run Lola Run") will direct the adaptation of the bestseller "The Perfume" by Patrick Süskind. Shooting will start this year. Producer Bernd Eichinger bought the rights three years ago. First, Ridley Scott was set to direct, and Caroline Thompsom ("Edward with the Scissorhands") wrote several (rejected) drafts. Director and artist Julian Schnabel also worked on a script, and wanted to cast Johnny Depp in the main role, but Eichinger chose Tykwer, who wrote a script with him and Andrew Birkin ("The Name of the Rose"). No actors are confirmed yet, but "Lord of the Rings"-and-"Curse of the Carribean"-star Orlando Bloom is supposed to play Grenouille."

I thought this could be interesting for you.
