More STAR WARS DVD Rumors Surfacing Regarding Original Editions, Special Editions, and Ultimate Editions'!

Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...

I heard a rumor recently from someone in a position to know who claimed that George Lucas has begun to quietly petition the DGA to let him alter the credits for both EMPIRE and JEDI when they are finally released as “THE ARCHIVAL EDITIONS” in 2007, since he feels they’re essentially new movies after all the work he’s done on them. Yeah, that’s right. EMPIRE would say “Directed By George Lucas and Irvin Kershner” now. Same thing on JEDI. A shared director’s credit.

If the idea of films being altered so much that they have to change the “directed by” credit scares you so much that you can’t even cope with it, then check out these rumors, which might make you feel a wee bit better...

Harry,

This is my first time sending something... hope it's worth it...

Today, davisdvd.com posted this on the rumors section of their website:

"Earl, who sent in the big "Vader Invitation" news a couple of weeks ago, checks in with another piece in the Star Wars puzzle: 'I found some more interesting information regarding the Star Wars DVD. A friend of mine subscribes to Electronic Gaming Monthly and it clearly states [in the article] that the footage that is used in the new Star Wars game Rebel Strike is digitally remastered and taken from the DVD 'to be released next fall.'"

The only reason I found this interesting is because of what I read earlier today on theforce.net...

"Obi_Shawn_Kenobi sends this in:

I just wanted to let you guys in on a little bit of information regarding the Original Trilogy. There has been talk about George Lucas not releasing the classic trilogy in its 'original' form (not the 'Special Edition') and even more talk about the original versions not even existing anymore. Well, I finished 'Rebel Strike' for the GameCube and at the end of the game they show the end celebration scene from 'Return of the Jedi.' Except that it isn't the one from the "Special Edition." It's the original cut with the original ewok music in it's full crisp dvd-quality widescreen glory! I was surprised and very pleased to say the least. Could this mean that the rumours about the Original Trilogy being released on DVD in 2004, in it's original form are true? Could the people at LucasArts have inserted this clip as a bit of a teaser of things to come? One can only hope...."

Is it possible that ol' George may go back on his word and please the fans with the "orginal" original trilogy after all...???

Anyway, thought it was interesting to put these two pieces of info together and thought you might like to know!!!

AICN Jedi Council RULES !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. I have a feeling we’ll get a better picture of the shape of things to come after that November 5th event he’s holding for licensers. Too bad no press is allowed in, eh?

"Moriarty" out.
