Emerald Luxury laughs about STUCK ON YOU!

Hey folks, Harry here... A super genius I know did some writing on this flick, so I know it was supposed to be very funny, but both trailers really haven't done a thing for me, even though I think that Greg and Matt are like... so dreamy... super keen. Anyway, here ya go...

Hello Harry,

I just had the pleasure to do a first screener for the film "Stuck on You" by the Farrelly Brothers. Yeah, as you know, those kooky guys that made little films like "There?s Something about Mary", "Me, Myself, and Irene", and "Dumb and Dumber." The movie stars Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity) and Gregg Kinnear (As Good as it Gets) as conjoined twins that grow up in a small town and live as small town heroes. But things are about to get more complicated for the joined-at-the-hip twins when Gregg's character decides he wants to move to Hollywood to pursue his dream to become an actor.

O.k., now the idea of conjoined twins sounds weird at best and the trailer did not inspire me to think differently. So I was not that excited to go see this movie. However, as I watched the movie, I thought of the Farrelly brothers, who are so linked to each other in making their films and I began to understand where their idea for a conjoined twins movie might have developed.

The Matt Damon character is the shy, nerdy, intelligent type that has difficulty with girls yet began a relationship over three years over the internet and the Kinnear character is popular, good with the ladies, and is charming, and believes he has talent as an actor. These guys are doing their separate things growing up and are very successful at what they do"alone, yet completely together" as they cannot be separated. But how does a conjoined twin make it in Hollywood (especially when the other twin does not act)? These brothers are naive enough to go for their dreams because they have tried things and always ended up succeeding. They give each other ultimate support and help each other when they are down. Yet there comes a time when romance and conflict make even close brothers want to go their separate ways. What do conjoined twins do?

The comic timing and chemistry between the two actors, Gregg Kinnear and Matt Damon make these bothers so charming and hilarious, sometimes you forget they are conjoined (well, that is pushing it). Of course, the Farrelly's make the twins conduct "normal" lives playing sports, hitting on women, doing jobs, which are some of the best scenes in the movie. Something changes in the movie where you begin to root for these conjoined twins and laugh throughout. I mean, take away the "attachment" and you have a regular movie about brothers growing up?put in the conjoined aspect, and hilarity ensues.

Now, I wouldn't say that the plot of the story is not slightly predictable. But it didn't really matter, because some of the scenes are just so funny, that it is worth it just for those shots. As I sat in the theatre, I noticed that the entire audience was laughing throughout, so it seemed to have its effect on others as well.

Now, granted, this was only a screening of the movie, and I am sure that the Farrellys will complete some changes to the movie to make it better. Some of my criticisms would include scenes with cameos of Cher and Meryl Streep as themselves. Now, I know you might think that Cher would be a drawback to a film, but they sort of made fun of her character in the movie, so it wasn't that bad. Sorry, I really liked Cher in some of her long past roles (Mask, Moonstruck) but I don't know what she is thinking with the plastic surgery her lips are so ballooned, I couldn't stop looking at them. The Meryl scene seemed too long, but hopefully they will change that part. However, Eva Mendez character as a ditzy actress wannabe that is friends with the twins was fun and she looks incredibly hot 'of course.

Anyway, I had a good time in this movie. I had been waiting to see a few movies that could really make me laugh after a dry spell this summer. This Farrelly Bros movie was funny and had the same sweetness and optimism that is in "There's Something About Mary."

Well, I hope the Farrelly's get a good opening on this movie. I enjoyed myself. Just thought I should share since I got to see an advance and the trailer on the movie was so average.

All the best!
