Harry just saw the RETURN OF THE KING trailer and it fried my brain!

Sweet Hushpuppies, Harry here... The trailer... Shelob... Big light thingee shot up in sky... Frodo's ring necklace hanging out before Gollum's eyes as he's climbing big rocky crags over I believe Minas Morgul... Damn insane ass kicking moment of a Ring Wraith on his crazy flying bastard swooping out the sky to knock shit out of a bunch of horse-bound riders... THE TRAILER FRIED MY BRAIN...

The only image that I think I saw that I've seen before is the one of Merry and Theoden as Merry kneels before him. Every single other shot is new... I believe. I saw it once in 35 mm, then saw an incredible film called TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE... heh... I have super-powers... I'm just glad the same Fed Ex truck brought that trailer and the print of TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE to the same MYSTERIOUS theater at the exact same time, and I, suggested, they be married for my enjoyment... Muhahahhaa...

First off... I swear, this film looks sharper, in terms of print quality than either of the first two... It may just be that my eyes have hungered so long for images of RETURN OF THE KING on the big screen, that I just... embraced them with a feeling akin to... I don't know... It's like seeing new UBER-COOLNESS for the first time again! The trailer moves so quickly, attempting to sweep the viewer into the concept that... TONS OF STUFF IS GOING ON!

The words that pop on screen, if memory serves were:

FOR EVERY VICTORY...

THERE ARE GREAT LOSSES...

FOR THOSE WHO SURVIVE...

MANY WILL SUFFER...

That shot on the DVD of Gollum talking to his reflection in the pool... well here, we see the tail end of that (after what we see on the dvd) Sam jerks him away from the pool screaming to Frodo that he's going to try to kill them.

The shot of SHELOB isn't of all of her... just her head and tiny moving parts, not the whole of her magnificent form... HOWEVER... What is shown... looks fantastic, and what is scary... Isn't so much the look, but the way SHELOB moves... inhumanly fast. If it sounds like I'm being coy, it's because there's a few people out there that don't know who Shelob is, but she's such a doll face, that I'll let them discover for themselves her exquisiteness.

The shot of... I believe BARAD-DUR teeming with an unreal, unnatural explosion of light shooting up into the sky... I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THAT IS?!?!?! Whatever it is, I'm dying to find out. It looked... incredible. Like BARAD-DUR was reborn as a Light Saber, but not like the ones we see in the movies, but imagine those Badass McQuarrie lightsabers with the jagged flaming pure edges... but GIGANTIC and AMAZING! AND - the scene of like 4 RingWraiths diving into the fray of the Pelennor Fields... AWE-INSPIRING... I got goosebumps as I saw the red hot shards of Narsil being reforged... Watching Legolas getting ready to whup some Oliphaunt ass... at least that's what I think is gonna happen there... COOOOOL.... Lots of Liv looking yummy yummy. The shot of Frodo climbing with Minas Morgul beneath him is... unreal... It is like something from true magic... Gorgeous, creepy, scary, desperate. The rocks he's climbing look like they'd shred your fingers. Brutal.

It shows a lot, but nowhere near giving anything significant really away... especially when you stop and think about it. This is a lapdance of a trailer. Something to get the audience fully ready and rearing to go. I CAN NOT WAIT! Oh... and then there's this over the shoulder of Gandalf on full steam ahead Shadowfax gallup, thrusting his staff out before him and this explosion of white light emanating from the top towards a mass of Orcs... I believe they were Orcs...

The trailer is just drenched in coolness... I CAN NOT WAIT for Monday to watch the trailer frame by frame about a hundred times on full screen. I need to figure out what all I just saw... All I know was it is allegedly longer than 2 minutes, but felt like a blink.

If you go to check out SECONDHAND LIONS and see this trailer... know that the trailer is gonna knock the air out of ya... and SECONDHAND LIONS is a good way to calm down and relax afterwards... A good movie after getting all worked up.
