Hey folks, Harry here... Folks haven't heard too much about Ron Howard's THE MISSING... for most, it's fallen under the radar. I'm hearing that it is the best film of Ron Howard's career and that those that have been in the know on the film... they feel it is a real triumph. I love the look of the trailer - and while the story feels a bit like THE SEARCHERS in a way, except... imagine if John Wayne (played by Tommy Lee Jones) was the sympathetic white man tarnished by his Indian association and Jeffrey Hunter (played by Cate Blanchett) was a puritanical woman with a hatred for the heathens... and that they were both searching for a little girl relative. Instead of SCAR - you have an Apache Witch that's deformed. ANYWAY - the original novel by Thomas Eidson is a bit of a pulpy Western - as opposed to a real literate examination of Western life. Depending what Ron and company have done... making a nitty gritty old school Western that isn't afraid of showing some of the barbarism of both sides of the "Americans" and "Native Americans" as opposed to showing that everyone was good and misunderstood. I want a bloody pulpy Western. I hear that's what this is. Let's hope!
