Some Music News And Details On Sophia Coppola

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab.

I love THE VIRGIN SUICIDES. I adore it. I think it’s really beautifully crafted, and I’ve been eager to see Sophia Coppola direct again. This e-mail makes me ecstatically happy for all sorts of reasons. Read on and see if you feel the same:

Hey, Harry -

I'm a music journalist out in flyover country.

Don't know if this is out of your ballpark or not, but the new Sofia Coppola film, Lost in Translation, is going to have a soundtrack performed by the illusive My Bloody Valentine frontman Kevin Shields. Sheilds is a fractured guitar genius, so it looks like Coppola is going to be going two for two on producing fantastic soundtracks. Now, her films, however ... We'll see.

Lost in Translation stars Bill Murray and takes place completely in Tokyo. Interesting to say the least.

Like I said, this may be out of your ballpark, but I haven't seen it anywhere else online, so I thought I'd pass it on. Now hurry up and set up a music geek site and I'll deluge you with news.

Call me,

Raef Bogosian

Okay. One of the great things about THE VIRGIN SUICIDES was that amazing soundtrack by Air. Sofia’s shown that she has a particular knack for matching music to movie. Kevin Shields is a really interesting choice, and I admire anyone who uses a less-than-conventional composer for their movie.

More importantly, Bill Murray’s in this. And it’s set in Tokyo. And it’s got a great title.

I’m dying to know anything else about this. When’s it coming? Who else is in it? TellmetellmeTELLME!!

"Moriarty" out.
