Hey folks, Harry here... I'm dying to see this one. I love with a passion Ryuhei Kitamura's first film... VERSUS, and love watching my Dvd of it where I see a whole helluvalot of Japanese characters followed by, "Harry Knowles - Aint It Cool News" and not having a clue what I'm saying. But whatever they say I'm saying, I probably said it, cuz I was bonkers in love with VERSUS. Ryuhei has made two other films since that time, both of which I regret to say, I have not seen. I've heard both raves and complete dismissals of Kitamura's ALIVE and ARAGAMI, but I'm dying to see them for myself. Miramax has the rights to VERSUS, so that means we'll probably see it... someday... in some unique Miramax form. However, Ryuhei Kitamura has a new film coming in Japan. And it ain't even listed on IMDB yet. It is called AZUMI and it is based on a Japanese comic by Yu Koyama, who is best known to me for his GAMBARE GENKI series which I've only seen a couple of issues of. But these three trailers look FANTASTIC! There's this one shot of these two characters fighting and the camera is somehow doing this amazing move which looks so friggin fantastic that I just dropped my jaw in reverence. God willing, I'll see this film!

I've just found the trailers for new Japanese action flick AZUMI based upon the comics by Yu Koyama, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (VERSUS). The movie is about a young female assassin AZUMI whose first mission is to kill her best friend. Althugh I have little knowledge about the comics AZUMI, I know that in the movie, there's the sequences when she kills 200 people (the first time in movie history?). I hope the movie will be released in the US.
