Sweeps Day Six: Herc's Seen 24 2.21!!

24 2.21 FAQ

What’s it called?

“Day 2: 4:00 AM-5:00 AM.”

Who’s responsible?

Teleplay is credited to Robert Cochran & Howard Gordon.

What does TV Guide say?

“Tony and Chappelle face off over the chip, the status of which Jack reports to Palmer, whose earlier actions regarding the bomb come to bear in a meeting with his cabinet; Kim is returned to the scene of a crime after speaking with Jack. Prescott: Alan Dale. Marcus: Nick Offerman. Cole: Maurice Compte. Stanton: Harris Yulin. Wieland: Michael Holden. Sec. of State: John Rubinstein. Sheriff: Paco Farias. Sec. of Treasury: Austin Tichenor.”

The big news?

TV Guide lies to you again, America. Kim does not make it to any scenes of any crimes this week. She is, hoewever, shown en route to Matheson’s house, “so I can pack up my things.”

What about that ubiquitous promo in which Jack is screaming for Kim to shoot? Is she defending herself against the hungry cougars that have been stalking her the whole time?

The scene depicting frantic Kim holding the gun is not in this week’s episode. Cheeky Fox promo-makers!

What else is TV Guide not telling us?

It fails to mention the return of a major character, one first introduced in season one.

Is it Victor Drazen? Mysteriously resurrected?

No.

Is is the fabulous, nakedness-prone lesbian assassin Mandy?

That would be telling.

When does Jack recover the chip from the rednecks?

4:02 a.m.

Stanton is back to continue his betrayal of Palmer?

He is. And the cabinet is shown graphic footage of Palmer torturing Stanton for intel. But the later footage, demonstrating that Stanton really was withholding intel about the nuclear device, has been “misplaced.”

And weaselly reporter Ron Wieland, detained by the president for hours the day before – he can’t have a kind word, can he?

Correct.

And they actually hired somebody to play the secretary of the treasury? Is he the cabinet’s voice of conscience?

He votes to support Palmer.

How does the secretary of agriculture vote?

Against Palmer.

Is is safe to assume any secretary of state played by John Rubinstein is working against Palmer?

As it happens, the cabinet is equally divided on whether to remove Palmer from the presidency – until the Rubinstein character casts the 15th and deciding vote.

Does Mike Novick suffocate Lynne Kresge as she lay helpless in her hospital bed??

Sadly, Lynne doesn’t appear this week.

When do we learn for certain that Chappelle is a puppet of the anti-Palmer faction?

A little past the halfway mark. The minute Chapelle learns Jack has recovered the chip, he hops on the phone: “I need to get a message to the vice president.”

Any new developments with Michelle’s brother Danny, who looks in no way like her?

Danny seems long forgotten. And I think his ex, Carrie, is missing this week as well.

Only three hours left! Does Kate Warner kiss on Jack for saving the world so many times already?

So close! At about 4:45, there’s a long, tear-soaked hug. And just as it looks like Jack is getting ready to plant a big wet one, the cell phone rings.

How does it end, spoiler-boy?

“Alex?” Ughnnnn! Plop. Ughnnnn! Plop. Ughnnnn! Plop.
