Aronofsky on FLICKERS, LONE WOLF & CUB, BATMAN YEAR ONE and More!

Hey folks, Harry here with an update on Aronofsky and his world. We've known for a while now that his BATMAN YEAR ONE was about as alive as the common DoDo, but we'll just pray that Nolan and Goyer nail it and are allowed to make it. Anyway I'm happy as can be that FLICKER is his next flick, absolutely fantastic book, run to AMAZON and get it now! I so want that script it ain't even funny! As for LONE WOLF AND CUB... I'll believe it when I see it. I'm completely satisfied the the Ogami Itto legend as brought to life by Tomisaburo Wakayama. Those six films are legend.

Dear Mr. Knowles,

Darren Aronofsky was at UC Berkeley tonight as part of the ASUC Superb Directors Series.  It was basically an hour long Question & Answer session.  When asked, he gave hints about future and possible projects.  He said he had to be careful of what he told us because it might end up on aititcool.com although I have a feeling that a lot of this might be old news to talkbackers.

Aronofsky said that he wrote a faithful adaptation of Year One with Frank Miller.  Warner Bros. owns the screenplay and he understands that they are very protective of the Batman franchise and is unsure about what will becoime of it.  He did say that is is definitely not his next film.

It seems clear that his next film will be Flicker based on the novel written by Theodore Roszak.  Rosak was actually in the audience tonight.  Aronofsky introduced him and shared some inside jokes with him throughout the session.

In regards to The Fountain, Aronofsky said that he has been working on it for the last two to three years and that it was still on the slate.  He did not mention Pitt or development hell but did  seem to be really excited about it.  He did mention that there is work being done on a graphic novel that will be released along with the film.

Aronofsky said that there were a lot of other things in the works.  He said that they were working on the rights for Lone Wolf and Cub and an adaptation of a chidren's book which he would not reveal.  Personally, the idea of Aronofsky doing a children's book seems the most interesting because its so far from what I would expect from him.

There seems to be a lot to look forward to for fans of Aronofsky fans.

Hope this is news worthy,

King Scissors
