Alabama Geeks Be Proud... they deliver on BIG FISH!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Yesterday we got that tiny report on BIG FISH and now look what we got... Technicolor coverage - Alabama does proud and keeps that crimson tide spirit alive... Let's keep the news coming through production though folks, this is a Tim Burton project which generally means coolness when the studio isn't trying to ... well as Walter Sobchak would say, "Fuck a man in the Ass!" You know, like rushing a film into production without adequate planning time or support... ah, but that's never happened to Tim now has it? :) Bastards...

Hey Harry:

Long time listener, first time caller.

Big Fish is pretty big news around here (Montgomery Alabama). From the buzz, you would think this one production was going to turn Central Alabama into Vancouver South.

A closed junior high school is serving as the base of operations. Trailers have amassed on Fairview Avenue and cast has been spotted on the grounds of the school in vintage clothing, apparently being photographed for pictures seen in the film.

There was a call for extras six weeks ago. They needed 6000! Word on the street was that they were close to getting all of them on the one call. The line went around the block.

They have shut downtown Wetumpka down for a couple of days and put up some new facades on a couple of businesses. They have also shut down the nearby Bibb Graves Bridge (CLICK HERE). Supposedly some filming will take place on the bridge.

The local newspaper is running stories on fiming near daily it seems. They are compiled here Click Here!

Next we have a tip from a reporter for the Montgomery Advertiser that's giving the Hi and Lo down on the flipping and flopping of that BIG FISH coverage in Alabama... here ya go...

Hi Harry -

Longtime reader of your site here - I visit it every day and really love the work you guys do.

I saw your item on the filming of "Big Fish" in Alabama. I'm a reporter for the "Montgomery Advertiser," and will be fortunate enough to do some reporting on the filming of the movie. I had a story today (Tuesday) on the first day of filming, and my editor, Rick Harmon, got to to talk with the screenwriter and some of the producers as well.

Anyway, I thought you'd want to know that we're running a special section on the paper's Web site (Click Here) about the filming of "Big Fish," including all our coverage as it goes on. While we aren't being allowed near Tim Burton or any of the actors yet, you can at least start there to get some glimpses of the sets and an idea of what's going on.

The section should be accessible from the site's main page. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks,

Blu Gilliand
